Welker had another huge season last year, notching 118 receptions. He also topped 1,300 yards and scored six touchdowns. Welker had five 100-yard games and four with double-digit receptions. Welker has more than 100 receptions and 1,000 yards five of six seasons. He continues to be the go-to target for Tom Brady in the Patriots passing game. Welker remains the top possession receiver in the game and Brady's favorite safety valve. Welker is a small, speedy receiver with plus hands and the ability to make plays in the open field. He is 32 years old but hasn't shown many signs of decline the last few seasons.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Welker isn't a top No. 1 receiver outside of PPR leagues, but just outside of those top options. Remember, he has never had double-digit touchdowns in a season. But you can pretty much pencil him in for 100-plus receptions and 1,000 yards. He is about as sure of a thing as it gets when it comes to fantasy options. It wouldn't be a surprise to see his numbers dip a little this season but don't expect a sharp decline by any means.

Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker knows that with WRs Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker in the picture on his new team, he won't be averaging 112 catches in 2013 like he did in his career with the New England Patriots. 'If I have to catch 112 balls, that probably means we're in trouble,' Welker said. During organized team activities Monday, May 20, QB Peyton Manning showed excellent chemistry with Thomas and Decker, but he also involved Welker some. Welker is on board with having a smaller workload, but Manning knows the benefit of adding Welker to the offense. 'He's just been an extremely difficult guy to cover one-on-one, and then you can tell by watching him on film - he's an extremely smart player,' Manning said. 'He has an excellent feel for zone coverage. This is just the beginning stages of him getting comfortable in this offense, and he and I getting on the same page.'
Fantasy Impact: Welker will have a hard time repeating his numbers in New England but should still get his chances in this offense.

The agency that represents Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker released a statement Tuesday, March 18, saying the New England Patriots made just one offer to Welker during free agency, a 'take it or leave it' proposition that left them no alternative but to go on the market and shop for a deal elsewhere. 'Specifically, both sides are clear that the Patriots made one offer to Wes Welker since the prior negotiations ended in July 2012,' the statement read. 'Both sides also agree that this two-year offer came just hours before the start of free agency despite discussions that began at the NFL (Scouting) Combine. Moreover, this lone offer was presented as a 'take it or leave it offer.' When we asked if there was room for structural changes, we were told no.'
