Summary

Wide Receiver Rank: #420All Players: #1249
Bess had the worst season of his career last year, his first with the Browns. He had fewer than 50 receptions for the first time in his career. Bess also had less than 500 yards for the first time. He got some work in the offense but was more hit or miss than recent seasons. Bess was apparently dealing with some personal off the field issues, though, and looked to be damaged goods when he arrived to Cleveland. At this point, his future looks clouded. Bess has at least 50 receptions all but one NFL season. He has more than 700 yards three of six seasons. He has been a top possession receiver through the year. Bess doesn't get much work in the red zone (14 touchdowns in six seasons), but he is a top possession receiver. He is less than six foot, but has good hands and runs pretty precise routes. He makes the most of his ability.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Bess is a bit of a risk going forward. You just don't know what you'll get with him because of his off the field stuff. He might be worth a grab late in PPR formats but that is about it. Bess really isn't worth the risk.

Cleveland Browns WR Davone Bess has been in a medical treatment center following the season, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. 'I was in a point of my life where there was a lot of betrayal and mistrust and I didn't know how to handle it,' Bess said. 'So I went and got some help. I went through the process and learned it's OK to express my feelings but I have to do it in a positive way.'
Fantasy Impact: We aren't sure what the future holds for Bess at this point.

The Cleveland Browns plan to void the $3.067 million base salary that is guaranteed to WR Davone Bess for next season because he was not able to play in the final few games of the 2013 season. Bess will have the right to challenge the decision if the team does void the guaranteed money. The Browns could keep Bess on their roster and allow him to earn the salary next season.

Updating an earlier report, Cleveland Browns WR Davone Bess appeared to be under the influence of an unknown narcotic at the time of his arrest. Police responded to passenger complaints of a black man at a TSA checkpoint 'acting irrationally, dancing, singing with his pants repeatedly falling down.' When cops arrived, Bess grabbed a cup of coffee that didn't belong to him off a nearby counter and squeezed it so hard it splashed all over the cop. He got into a fighting stance and was struck by the cop in the leg with a baton. The cop said the strike had no effect. Bess took his shirt off and got into a fighting stance again. He surrendered when backup arrived.
