Summary

Running Back Rank: #18All Players: #36
Tate didn't have a career season last year but played very well before missing the last few games because of a rib injury. Tate finished the year with more than 900 total yards. He got plenty of starts because of injury to Arian Foster. Tate also set career highs in the passing game, catching 34 passes. He proved he could be a capable option out of the backfield. Tate has more than 900 total yards two of three seasons. He is ready for a bigger role, taking over as the No. 1 back for the Browns. He is a one-cut runner that hits the hole in a hurry and can get to the next level with little effort. Tate also has good size, giving him the ability to run over would-be tacklers. And as mentioned, Tate is an improved pass catcher, which helps his chances to be a three-down back.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Tate has good potential in a starting role. He can be a top fantasy back if all goes well. Tate isn't a sure thing by any means but you have to love his upside. We think he can get 1,400 total yards and nine or so touchdowns. Consider him a low-end No. 1 back or top No. 2 as the workhorse back for the Browns.

comments about Ben Tate

Notes

Cleveland Browns RBs Ben Tate, Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West were held to 69 yards on 33 carries in Week 7, and head coach Mike Pettine suggested a change was coming for the trio. 'We'll have a discussion this week as to how to best rotate those guys,' Pettine said.
Fantasy Impact: It wouldn't surprise to see Crowell eventually emerge as the back that gets the most work out of this group.

Cleveland Browns RB Ben Tate (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 2.

Cleveland Browns RB Ben Tate (knee) is expected to start in Week 5 if he is able to play because Tate's experience allows the team to expand their playbook. RB Terrance West has been in front of RB Isaiah Crowell on the depth chart, but head coach Mike Pettine said Crowell may deserve more playing time. 'It's not an easy problem because if you spread it too thin over three then you run the risk of none of them really getting into the groove of the game,' Pettine said. 'If you restrict it to just two, now you're looking at potentially having a guy that's fresh on the sideline that's not doing anything. It is an issue and you kind of have to play it by ear.'
Fantasy Impact: This is probably a situation we would just avoid for now until it shakes out which back will get the most work.
