Dallas Cowboys OLs David Arkin and Harland Gunn struggled with their snaps so much in practice Tuesday, Aug. 7, that head coach Jason Garrett had to insert C Phil Costa to work with the third team just so the unit could run plays. Still, executive vice president Stephen Jones downplayed any fears in the event Costa goes down with an injury. 'Center? We feel like we are going to be fine there,' Jones said. 'Arkin, I've noticed days he's had a little problem with the snaps. At some point, we will put the ball in (OG Mackenzy) Bernadeau's hands. He's (played center) before. It's not totally foreign to him.'

Dallas Cowboys C Phil Costa, OG Harland Gunn and OG David Arkin have seen time at center during training camp. All three need time to improve at the position, but the team is not expected to look for a veteran center at this point.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said he saw noticeable improvement in OG David Arkin during offseason workouts as opposed to how he looked last season. Arkin was not active for any of the regular season games last season but knows the team has faith in him because they spent a draft choice on him.

Dallas Cowboys OG David Arkin said he spent the offseason building his strength up - something that was lacking last season. 'I feel like I was able to get in the weight room with Mike Woicik and really work a lot and get stronger,' Arkin said. 'I felt like that was a little bit of a problem for me, my anchor strength, and I feel like I've gotten a lot better with that.'
