Royster was unable to win the starter's job before the season and served as the No. 2 or 3 back most weeks for the Redskins, getting very little work. He had fewer than 100-rushing yards for the season. His season high in carries was four. Royster wasn't able to build on the momentum from his rookie year and seems destined for backup duty as long as he is with the Redskins. Alfred Morris will be the starter in Washington for the foreseeable future. Royster doesn't have a lot of burst or breakaway speed, but makes plays and moves the pile. Royster runs pretty well between the tackles and has solid vision. He isn't a flashy runner but just seems to get the job done.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Unless Morris gets hurt, don't bother with Royster. He won't get enough touches to be worth a roster spot. We wouldn't doubt that he improves on last season but not by much, getting around 300 or 400 total yards and a few scores.

Updating a previous report, despite being listed as the top tailback on the Week 1 depth chart released Monday, Sept. 3, RB Evan Royster is still unsure if he will be the starter against the New Orleans Saints. 'I think they're going to keep us pretty much in the dark until probably the day before the game,' Royster said.
Fantasy Impact: Not a surprise. Mike Shanahan continues to drive fantasy owners crazy.

Fantasy Impact: We wouldn't look too much into this as Mike Shanahan changes things on a whim but it seems Royster could at least open the year as the starter.

Washington Redskins RB Evan Royster carried 10 times for 44 yards and a touchdown in the preseason finale Wednesday, Aug. 29, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also added a pair of receptions for 15 yards.
Fantasy Impact: Royster had a solid game but isn't too exciting, having little big-play ability. It remains to be seen if he will open the season as the starter.

Fantasy Impact: Royster continues to be the favorite to start for the Redskins. It seems to be his job to lose.

Washington Redskins RB Evan Royster looked like the best back in the team's training camp last week, according to ESPN.com's Dan Graziano. People from the organization have given Graziano the impression that they believe Royster has a higher ceiling than RB Roy Helu, if each is healthy. They also think highly of rookie RB Alfred Morris, who isn't out of the mix, in part because health is their chief concern regarding both Royster and Helu.
