Kansas City Chiefs DT Dontari Poe has been working with the first-team defense during practice this week and likely will start the final preseason game Thursday, Aug. 30. He may have to start Week 1 if DT Anthony Toribio (ankle) is not recovered from his injury.

Kansas City Chiefs DT Dontari Poe has not received a ton of reps early in training camp. Head coach Romeo Crennel said Poe has a lot to work on if he wants to get on the field more. 'He needs to work on technique, he needs to work on understanding the system, he needs to get the calls correct all the time. He's got a ways to go,' Crennel said.

Kansas City Chiefs DL Dontari Poe acknowledged the difficulty of adjusting to the NFL game. 'It's all different,' Poe said Wednesday, Aug. 8. 'The technique of it, there's nothing the same about the college level. The only thing the same is that it's football. As far as the speed level and the strength and all that, you've got to learn it all over again.' Poe remains behind DL Anthony Toribio at the nose tackle position on the depth chart, and Poe enters the lineup on obvious passing downs when the Chiefs use their nickel defense.
