Cleveland Browns QB Brandon Weeden opened up this week at the team's offseason team activities as the starter, with QB Jason Campbell relegated to second-team duties. It appears that the starting quarterback job will be Weeden's to lose this year. The team is hoping Weeden fits better in head coach Rob Chudzinski's aerial attack than he was in former head coach Pat Shurmur's West Coast offensive system.

Although Cleveland Browns QB Jason Campbell will receive a chance to compete for the team's starting quarterback job, QB Brandon Weeden will most likely start in Week 1. The only way Weeden doesn't is if he struggles in training camp and the preseason. He has the strong arm that should mesh well in an offense run by head coach Rob Chudzinski and offensive coordinator Norv Turner.
Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski said Thursday, May 2, that he is not yet ready to hand the starting quarterback job to QB Brandon Weeden, even though the team did not select a quarterback in the NFL Draft. 'I feel good about where we're at right now,' Chudzinski said. 'He's been working with the first group and we'll just see as we go forward. We're (working) on air right now so it's very early but I do like what I've seen so far and we'll see how it goes. Right now it's too early to say anything one way or another.' Weeden will compete with QB Jason Campbell for the job.

The Cleveland Browns made it clear this offseason that they want QB Brandon Weeden to take more of a leadership role, and he's accepted the challenge. He is the clear-cut starter over QB Jason Campbell, although the coaches still could still use the newcomer Campbell if they feels he gives them the best chance to win. Since current management did not draft Weeden, he is believed to have less room for error.

Cleveland Browns QB Brandon Weeden is not concerned about the team possibly drafting a quarterback in the first round. 'It's the nature of this business,' he said. 'There's always speculation. It's this time of year. We're however many days away from the draft, but I'm worried about me. I can't control the other stuff. I'm going to continue to learn this offense. I'm going to continue to get better as a player and grow from year one to year two.'
