Coleman has good size and a strong arm, but isn't too erratic and needs to get up to speed with the pro game. He has some work to do to be a top NFL backup but is in a good place to learn how to be a top quarterback.

Coleman is a long shot to win the top backup job, so don't bother with him come draft day.

The Green Bay Packers have signed QB B.J. Coleman, TE Brandon Bostick, C Garth Gerhart, OG Joe X. Gibbs, OT Andrew Datko, LB Micah Johnson, CB James Nixon and SS Chaz Powell to futures contracts. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

The Green Bay Packers selected QB B.J. Coleman in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He is bigger and stronger than QB Graham Harrell, but he is not a serious challenge for the No. 2 QB job because of the jump in sophistication of an offseason from a lower level Division I college to the NFL. 'B.J.'s exciting, he's a whirl a minute, he has a lot of questions, he's always talking, a lot of energy,' head coach Mike McCarthy said. 'Talented young man, but he's got a lot to learn.'
