| | | Denver Broncos |
OutlookThe Broncos have as much talent as any team in the league. Their defense is underrated and can be dominating at times. And the offense is as good as it gets, especially with Wes Welker now in the mix. This passing game could be near unstoppable, especially if early reports of Peyton Manning looking better than last season are true. The Broncos are a legit Super Bowl contender and our avorite to make it to the big game from the AFC. |
|
Ronnie Hillman, RB. Hillman should have a much bigger role in the offense this season - even if he doesn't start. He'll at least be the third-down back in an offense that throws often. You have to like his total yardage potential, especially because of his big-play ability. He is a playmaker, so look for the Broncos to get him involved. He is worth a mid to late round flier come draft day. |
|
Willis McGahee, RB. McGahee could be cut even before the season starts but if he makes the team, expect his role to be diminished. The Broncos want to get younger at running back and McGahee isn't getting any younger. He has a history of injury problems and a lot of carries the last few seasons. He is lacking a little burst from recent seasons. Go with younger, more exciting options at the running back spot this season. |
Team Notes| Jun 17, 08:53 PM |
Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman added about 15 pounds of muscle in the offseason and got his frame up to 200 pounds. The team would like him to play between 190-to-195 pounds. | | Jun 17, 08:53 PM |
Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman praised RB Montee Ball. 'He's a good kid, I can't say kid. He's older than me,' Hillman said with a laugh. 'He's a good dude, he's learning, he's doing good things out on the field. He's going to be good.' | | Jun 17, 01:33 PM |
The Denver Post's Mike Klis estimates that the Denver Broncos' passing offense would reach its peak if Demaryius Thomas gets 85 receptions and Eric Decker and Wes Welker each net around 75. Klis contends that the strength of this passing attack must continue to stem from outside receivers. | | Jun 17, 11:11 AM |
The Denver Broncos could start RB Ronnie Hillman for Week 1, but he is expected to eventually give way to rookie RB Montee Ball, perhaps by the end of September. Veteran RB Knowshon Moreno likely will be used often, as he is the best pass-protecting running back on the team.
Fantasy Impact: Don't discount Hillman this season. He could play a big role - even with Ball around. | | Jun 17, 11:11 AM |
Paul Klee, of the Colorado Springs Gazette, believes the primary reason free-agent RB Willis McGahee (knee, Broncos) is no longer a Denver Broncos roster member is because of his health status. Broncos head coach John Fox said McGahee's decision to skip voluntary minicamp had nothing to do with the veteran's release. | | Jun 16, 11:43 PM |
Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker will get a crack at his former team, the New England Patriots, in Week 12. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft told reporters his club offered Welker more money than Denver, but he left anyway. | | Jun 16, 11:43 PM |
Denver Broncos head coach Mike Fox said the reason RB Willis McGahee was released had nothing to do with the veteran's decision to skip voluntary organized team activities (OTAs), but the team feels he was not healthy, according to sources. He saw only limited carries during the team's mandatory minicamp, and the team has plenty of depth with RBs Ronnie Hillman, Knowshon Moreno and rookie Montee Ball in the mix. | | Jun 16, 11:43 PM |
Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman, Montee Ball and Knowshon Moreno are in a dogfight for the starting job heading into training camp and the preseason. Hillman and Ball are likely the top candidates to start, with Moreno seeing plenty of time on the field due to his pass-blocking abilities. | | Jun 15, 11:23 AM |
Denver Broncos FS David Bruton received some reps with the first-team defense during offseason workouts. Bruton has been mostly a special team players in his first four years with the team. | | Jun 15, 11:23 AM |
Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas received some reps with the first-team offense during offseason workouts.
Fantasy Impact: This isn't a surprise. He could emerge as a starter before long in this offense. | | Jun 13, 04:03 PM |
Free-agent RB Willis McGahee (Broncos) said the Denver Broncos did not ask him to re-sign with them at a lower salary. | | Jun 13, 04:03 PM |
Free-agent RB Willis McGahee (Broncos) said he expected to be released by the Denver Broncos because they are going younger at the position. | | Jun 13, 04:03 PM |
Free-agent RB Willis McGahee (Broncos) said he plans to play this season. 'I will keep playing,' he said. 'I don't feel like I have to go out there and say what I have left. I know what I can do. I'm not worried about it. Once I get the opportunity, it will be all good.' | | Jun 13, 10:53 AM |
The Denver Broncos released RB Willis McGahee.
Fantasy Impact: This isn't a surprise. The Broncos are trying to get younger at the position. McGahee could find work with another team as a possible starter. Stay tuned. | | Jun 11, 02:53 PM |
Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) was running routes during practice Tuesday, June 11. Moreno was previously only taking part in pass protection drills last week after having knee surgery early in the offseason. | | Jun 11, 01:13 PM |
Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee is present for the team's minicamp on Tuesday, June 11. There was never really much doubt, but McGahee's tenuous roster spot and his absence from OTAs for personal reasons may have given the appearance that there was. Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman appear to be part of the new wave and make McGahee not worth much fantasy speculation, however. |
