| | | Miami Dolphins |
OutlookThe Dolphins have to be better than last year but that isn't saying much. They lack a lot at receiver for what should be a pass-first team, so that is a concern. And the quarterback situation is a little muddled with three guys competing for the job. The defense has some holes, especially against the pass. If the pass defense doesn't get much better, the Dolphins could be in for another long season. |
|
Matt Moore, QB. We know the Dolphins drafted Ryan Tannehill to become the starter in Miami but he likely is a year or two away from claiming that job. Moore should be the starter this season. And Moore produced some big games in a starting role last year, so he proved he can help fantasy teams. He moves to a much more pass-friendly system this year and could be more consistent in a starting role for fantasy teams. He can have a big season in this offense, making him worth using for some spot starts for fantasy teams. |
|
Reggie Bush, RB. Bush had his first 1,000-yard season last year but he'll have a very hard time reaching that this year. Expect Daniel Thomas to get more carries at running back. Plus, the Dolphins will be a lot more pass first in their new offense. This could lead to more receptions for Bush, but his carries are going to be down from last year. Don't draft him based off his numbers from last season. He isn't going to match those in 2012. |
Team Notes| May 22, 05:13 PM |
Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Gibson lined up as the slot receiver when the team used three-receiver sets during organized team activities Tuesday, May 21.
Fantasy Impact: Gibson should be the favorite for this spot with the Dolphins. | | May 22, 05:03 PM |
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline, WR Brandon Gibson and CB Brent Grimes worked as punt returners during organized team activities Tuesday, May 21. Head coach Joe Philbin did not rule out the possibility of RB Marcus Thigpen being the punt and kick returner this season. | | May 22, 11:25 AM |
Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller worked predominantly with the first-team offense, but RBs Daniel Thomas, Mike Gillislee and Marcus Thigpen also saw carries Tuesday, May 21, in organized team activities (OTAs). | | May 22, 11:06 AM |
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill was sharp during organized team activities Tuesday, May 21. Tannehill had big passes to WRs Brian Hartline and Mike Wallace. TE Dustin Keller was impressed with Tannehill's first practice. "You would think a guy who used to play wide receiver the best thing he does is run the ball," Keller said. "But he puts the ball right on the money and he's a good decision maker, as well."
Fantasy Impact: Tannehill has a chance for a breakout season. He could take a big step forward. | | May 21, 11:53 PM |
Miami Dolphins TE Michael Egnew began team drills in organized team activities (OTAs) Tuesday, May 21, ahead of TE Dustin Keller. Head coach Joe Philbin said Egnew earned the reps after a strong offseason.
Fantasy Impact: Good to hear that Egnew has made some progress after a disappointing rookie season. It looks like the Dolphins aren't giving up on him just yet. | | May 21, 11:53 PM |
Miami Dolphins OG Nate Garner rotated in at left guard and center during organized team activities (OTAs) Tuesday, May 21. He was the team's backup right tackle last season. | | May 21, 02:33 PM |
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline is getting a look at returning punts at organized team activities. Hartline has never returned punts and will compete with RB Marcus Thigpen. "Possibly, but in what situations, I couldn't tell you," Hartline said of potentially returning kicks. "But they [coaching staff] made a point to tell me to go and catch punts every day." | | May 21, 02:23 PM |
Miami Dolphins CB Brent Grimes (Achilles') shined in organized team activities practice Tuesday, May 21. Grimes looked healthy after coming off Achilles' surgery, batting down multiple passes in practice. | | May 21, 12:33 PM |
Miami Dolphins SS Reshad Jones has changed his mind and will attend organized team activities Tuesday, May 21, after originally planning to sit out this week in an effort to convince the team to start contract negotiations with him. General manager Jeff Ireland said the two sides will 'eventually' discuss an extension if Jones showed up. | | May 21, 11:03 AM |
Miami Dolphins OG Lance Louis (knee) is doing rehab work on the side in his recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in November. | | May 20, 04:13 PM |
Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins SS Reshad Jones does not plan on attending organized team activities this week unless the team begins contract extension talks with him. | | May 20, 02:53 PM |
Miami Dolphins DT Randy Starks will not participate in organized team activities because of his contract situation. | | May 20, 02:53 PM |
Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (knee), TE Charles Clay (knee), OT Lance Louis (knee) and CB Richard Marshall (back) have received medical clearance to participate in organized team activities. | | May 20, 02:53 PM |
Miami Dolphins CB Brent Grimes (Achilles') could be limited during organized team activities because he is still recovering from an Achilles' tendon injury. | | May 20, 02:13 PM |
Miami Dolphins SS Reshad Jones was not present for the team's offseason conditioning session Monday, May 20. The reason for his absence is not known, but some teammates believe it is about his contract situation. It is not known if Jones will participate in the organized team activities this week. | | May 20, 11:33 AM |
Free-agent WR Chad Johnson (Dolphins) was arrested in Florida for violating his probation. He failed to report to his probation officer on two occasions and failed to show proof of enrollment in a domestic violence education class.
Fantasy Impact: The chances of him playing in the NFL any time soon are slim to none. |
