OutlookThe defending champs look good once against for the coming season. They aren't as flashy as some of the other top teams in the NFC but just get the job done. New York plays well as a team. Their offense is explosive but a little more consistency running the ball could help. And the defense generates a great pass rush and does well creating turnovers. Expect the Giants to have another good season and make a run at another Super Bowl title. The talent is in place for this to happen. |
|
David Wilson, RB. The rookie back seems setup for good things, playing behind Ahmad Bradshaw, who is far from durable. Wilson should play a big role in the offense from day one. He is a fast back that can catch the ball well out of the backfield and has big-play ability. He is ready to help fantasy teams as a rookie - even with Bradshaw around. The Giants have a history of using two backs, so Wilson stands a good chance to get plenty of playing time in 2012. |
|
Hakeem Nicks, WR. You have to love his talent and he is coming off another good season, but Nicks is a concern this year as he recovers from a broken foot. He should be ready for Week 1 at his current recovery rate but even if ready to play, that doesn't mean he'll be 100 percent. He could start the season a little slow, which will hurt his numbers. And Victor Cruz emerged as a big-time target in the offense, meaning he could steal some more targets from Nicks this season. Nicks isn't likely to produce near his numbers of the past two seasons. |

New York Giants RB Andre Brown could be poised to start in 2013. 'This is my year,' Brown said. 'I have to go out there and I have to produce. I feel like this is a very important season and I have to go out there and show the world what Andre Brown is made of.' | | May 16, 03:12 PM |
The New York Giants likely will continue to use RB David Wilson as their kick returner after unable to sign Oakland Raiders WR Joshua Cribbs. It was believed Wilson would have his return duties reduced because he is expected to be the starting running back. | | May 16, 02:42 PM |
New York Giants LB Aaron Curry thinks he can be an impact linebacker on the team's defense. "I really believe I have the ability to be an impact linebacker on this defense," Curry said. "I feel like I can affect each play that I'm in the game. I'm looking forward to just putting it all out there and emptying my tank every day at practice and taking it to the game just to have fun and win some football games." | | May 16, 02:32 PM |

New York Giants special teams coordinator Tom Quinn said he believes RB David Wilson can still be a kick returner this season even though he is expected to be the starting running back. 'With his expanded role (in the offense), we'll see where it leads,' Quinn said. 'He said he'd like to do both, but it all depends on the game and his carries and what his role is in the offense.' | | May 11, 02:22 PM |
New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said he believes WR Jerrel Jernigan has the opportunity to step his game up during offseason workouts since he will be the main slot receiver with restricted free-agent WR Victor Cruz sitting out the workouts. 'I think it's about time that he steps up. And I think we feel he has enough ability and he's been here now long enough. Until Victor gets back, he'll be the main guy inside at the slot position. It's a chance for him to shine and step forward and do the things that we believe he can do,' Gilbride said. | | May 11, 02:12 PM |
New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese said he does not see much risk with the signing of LB Aaron Curry and hopes that Curry can reinvent himself with the Giants. 'It's an opportunity for him. If he comes on and he looks like the player that he was when he was the fourth pick in the draft, it's a win-win for everybody. Sometimes a guy can go to a new environment and reinvent himself. We're hoping that's what happens with him,' Reese said. Curry currently weighs 265 pounds, which Reese said is about 10 pounds more than his playing weight. | | May 10, 05:12 PM |
New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said he has full confidence WR Victor Cruz's contract situation will be resolved and he will return to the team. | | May 10, 04:32 PM |
