Shockey made it through the season relatively healthy, playing all but a game. He split time at tight end for the Panthers, having a reception in every game he played. His numbers weren't off the charts but he was a part of the offense, catching 37 passes for 455 yards. His season high in yards was 60. Shockey has back-to-back seasons with fewer than 500 yards. He has some big seasons during his career but at this stage, Shockey isn't likely to improve much on last season. He is best suited to split time at tight end. Shockey has endured several injuries through the years and finally seems to be slowing down. Shockey still has some upside, though, especially as a pass catcher. He is a big, athletic tight end with decent speed. Shockey has good hands and will make the tough catch.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Shockey is not an elite option at tight end. His numbers have never been off the charts, and he is an injury risk. His production has gone down in recent years but he is still worth a spot start or two in the right matchup. He can finish near last year's mediocre numbers.

Free-agent TE Jeremy Shockey (Panthers) is the whistle-blower who alerted the league to the New Orleans Saints' bounty program, according to NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp. Sapp said he did not receive his information from anyone at the league, but from a trusted source close to the situation. Shockey adamantly denied the charge.
Fantasy Impact: You never know what will come of this but just the implication of this can't be good for his chances to find work this coming season.

Free-agent TE Jeremy Shockey (Panthers) reportedly would like to return to the New York Giants, which is the team he started his NFL career with. The Giants, however, are not interested. A source with knowledge of the situation noted that there isn't anything going on with the Giants and a potential reunion of the two. Shockey, 31, has seen his production fade and reportedly was considering retirement earlier this year.
