Winslow played just a game last season with the Patriots and caught a pass for 12 yards. This was after catching 75 passes for the Bucs the previous season. His career could be nearing an end despite big production when getting his chances. He is just 30 years old but multiple knee injuries have derailed his career. He just lacks the burst of previous years and looks a shell of himself. When healthy and on his game, Winslow has good speed and can run routes like a receiver. And his size makes him tough to bring down in the open field. He is going to try to win a roster spot this season but nothing is guaranteed from him at this point.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

His days of being an elite fantasy tight end are over. At this point, he isn't even worth a roster spot. Unless he makes a remarkable comeback, Winslow won't be worth using at any point this year.

Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski said Wednesday, April 17, that he has not had any conversations with free-agent TE Kellen Winslow (Seahawks) about returning, but he didn't discount the notion either. 'Not specifically with him coming back but I've kept in touch with Kellen over time. Obviously, I've known him and been close with him for a long time,' Chudzinski said.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said TE Kellen Winslow was released earlier this week due to personal reasons. 'We talked about several different things,' Belichick said. 'At the end of that discussion, I felt that it was best that we release Kellen for personal reasons. So that's what we did.'
Fantasy Impact: Not sure what happened but it doesn't look good for Winslow.

Updating a previous report, TE Kellen Winslow passed his physical Tuesday, Sept. 18, and is now a member of the New England Patriots. He signed a one-year deal with the team.
Fantasy Impact: Winslow could get immediate playing time but we aren't sure he is worth a roster spot just yet unless you are in a deeper league.

New England Patriots TE Kellen Winslow is expected to team up with TE Rob Gronkowski as part of the team's two tight end sets after the injury to TE Aaron Hernandez (ankle) in Week 2. Hernandez is expected to miss at least a month. Winslow's base salary of $3.3 million this year would have only been guaranteed if he was on the roster for Week 1.
Fantasy Impact: Winslow might be worth a flyer if you are looking for a backup tight end.
