The New York Jets want WR Santonio Holmes to renegotiate his contract. He had a team-high $11 million base salary, and $12.5 million cap figure, in 2013. Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes (foot) has an offset clause in his contract, meaning he cannot double dip if he's released. His contract maxes out at $7.5 million in 2013 earnings if he's cut and signs elsewhere. So Holmes has financial motivation to stay with the team, and he might be receptive to a restructured deal to help the team gain more salary cap space in 2013. He has an $11 million base salary, and if he is cut they would take an $11.25 million salary cap hit.
