Tate got a little more work as a receiver his second season with the Bengals but still was more of a factor on special teams than anything. He caught 13 passes for 211 yards last season after failing to catch a pass the previous season. Tate continues to do well as a return man, though, and should continue to get plenty of work in that area. He just hasn't grown much as a receiver, catching 37 passes in four seasons. Tate is a playmaker. He has explosive speed and solid moves in space. His route running remains rough, which hurts his chances to get much work as a receiver.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Tate will get a few chances in the passing game but not many. He is a solid play in leagues that reward return yardage but is a big stretch in those that don't. He'll be lucky to get double-digit receptions.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon Tate has been listed as a starting wide receiver opposite A.J. Green and ahead of WR Armon Binns on the team's first depth chart of training camp. Tate dealt with hamstring problems last week but returned to practice and played in the team's scrimmage Sunday, Aug. 5, catching a touchdown. Rookie Mohamaed Sanu was listed fourth on the depth chart.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon Tate impressed during offseason workouts, and he took most of his snaps with the first-team offseason. If he is able to land a meaningful role, it would be the first time in his career that he has done so. To date, he has 24 total receptions for 432 yards and just three touchdowns.
Fantasy Impact: Tate might be worth a late-round flier come draft day. He could have a much bigger role in the offense.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said WR Brandon Tate was one of the standout players during workouts this offseason. 'He's been one of the best surprises of camp for me,' said Gruden. 'Last year he came in late (after being acquired on waivers from New England) and was mainly a return guy and our fifth receiver and never really got in the flow with the group at wide receiver. Now I think he's more confident, he sees that he belongs as an NFL wide receiver, and I think the confidence level that he has is showing. He's got all the ability. He runs all of the routes great, he's got great feel, and he's done an outstanding job.'
Fantasy Impact: Tate has some talent and could emerge as the starter if he keeps playing well.
