Jenkins joins a suddenly crowded receiving unit with the 49ers. He'll have a shot to start or serve as the No. 3 or 4 receiver depending on how he performs in camp and preseason action. He is the future at the position for the 49ers, though, and will be a big factor in the offense at some point. Jenkins is a top deep threat. He has top speed and stretches the field in a hurry. He is a big-play threat that gives the offense a new dimension. Jenkins does lack a little consistency and could use some work on his underneath routes.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Jenkins is a wild card as you just don't know how much playing time he'll grab his rookie season. A lot might depend on if Randy Moss is back or not. For now, consider Jenkins a late-round grab or waiver-wire material. He could get 400 or so yards and a few scores in his current role.

San Francisco 49ers WR A.J. Jenkins is expected to join QB Colin Kaepernick for offseason workouts as he looks to improve his overall game. 'Obviously, I want to contribute a lot more than I have been,' Jenkins said. 'So I'm going to make that happen and come back bigger, faster, stronger.' Jenkins only was active for three games in the regular season. He was in uniform during the playoffs but had no passes thrown his way, and he played three snaps in Super Bowl XLVII.
Fantasy Impact: Jenkins has a chance to play a much bigger role in the offense if he has a good offseason.

San Francisco 49ers WR A.J. Jenkins would have to serve as the team's slot receiver in three-receiver formats in order to see much playing time, which is unlikely. WRs Michael Crabtree, Mario Manningham and Randy Moss are ahead of him, and Crabtree and Manningham are capable of playing the slot. Crabtree has lined up 96 times in the slot and Manningham has been there 41 snaps. They rank second and third in average yards from the slot among players with at least 40 plays in that position. Jenkins is unlikely to surpass Moss for usage in three-receiver sets.
