Summary

Wide Receiver Rank: #66All Players: #200
A stress fracture in his foot cut Sanu's rookie season short, which was a shame because he was just starting to produce before getting injure. He had five straight games with multiple receptions and four touchdowns during that stretch before the injury. The Bengals remain high on Sanu and think he'll challenge for a starting job this season. Sanu is more of a possession-type receiver, lacking some big-play ability. He is a good fit for the Bengals West Coast offense. Sanu runs good routes, has plus hands and isn't afraid to make the tough catch in traffic. He isn't a big-play threat, though, lacking some speed for the position.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Sanu seems setup to take a nice step forward this season. He can get around 60 catches for 700 yards and a few scores. He'll move the chains and get consistent targets in an emerging offense, giving him some value as a reserve for fantasy teams.

The Cincinnati Bengals have been criticized for not pursuing a veteran wide receiver in free agency; however, head coach Marvin Lewis points to the development of WR Mohamed Sanu as a reason for standing pat. According to Lewis, Sanu is ahead of where former WR Chad Johnson was entering his second season in the NFL. 'I'll go on record saying that,' Lewis said. 'That's the uneducated putting dumb thoughts in people's minds. It's why you have an opportunity to go after these guys and go get these guys. So you continue to make your team better. (It's) not a positive in making your team better when you keep adding old guys ... What did Randy Moss do (for the San Francisco 49ers) last year? He did nothing. He got in the way of a younger player performing.'

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (foot) is running routes after getting cleared early in February. 'It's great. It feels good. I've been working out and running,' Sanu said this week during an interview about his experience at least year's NFL Scouting Combine. 'I've been running routes for a while and it feels good.' Sanu missed the last six games of 2012 with a stress fracture in his foot.

Fantasy Impact: Just when he starts to get some playing time, Sanu goes down.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu has emerged as a great red zone target for QB Andy Dalton to take attention away from WR A.J. Green. Three of Sanu's four touchdowns have come with WR Andrew Hawkins (knee) out, and three of Sanu's TDs have come on third downs. Sanu has eight third down catches in his four starts. He has gone ahead of WRs Brandon Tate and Armon Binns on the depth chart. 'He's awesome in the red zone,' offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said. 'In zones he has a great feel for finding the holes and man-to-man he's got a big body (6-2, 210) where he can create separation for himself. He's everything we hoped he would be. It just took us too long a time to figure it out I guess.'
Fantasy Impact: Sanu is gaining value, especially in TD-only leagues.
Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu did not have any receptions in the Week 3 game against the Washington Redskins, but he did throw a 73-yard touchdown to fellow WR A.J. Green on the first offensive play of the game.
Fantasy Impact: This was a nice bonus for Sanu. He isn't worth using for fantasy teams, though, as he isn't getting enough work.
