Rackers had the second best point total of his career last season, scoring 135 points. He averaged 130 points the last two seasons with the Texans. He made 84 percent of his kicks, which was his lowest total since 2007. For his career, he makes 80 percent of his field goals and has improved his accuracy through the years. He heads to Washington this season to compete for the starter's job with Graham Gano. Rackers has the experience and better track record, so he is considered the favorite to win the job. Rackers has 110 or more points six of the last seven seasons. If he starts, he'll play in an offense that should be better this season and provide him a decent amount of chances. Rackers doesn't have a hug leg anymore, but can still make some long kicks.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Accuracy used to be a concern with Rackers, but he has improved in that area. He'll need to win the starting job first but if that happens, he has value as a low-end No. 1 kicker. He can get 110 or so points in this offense. Don't expect a ton of long-distance kicks, though.

The New England Patriots brought in free-agent PKs Billy Cundiff (Redskins), Graham Gano (Redskins) and Neil Rackers (Redskins) for workouts Wednesday, Oct. 31. It's uncertain if either is a serious threat to PK Stephen Gostkowski, or just being look at in the event of an emergency.

Washington Redskins PKs Graham Gano and Neil Rackers each kicked head-to-head from distances of 30, 37, 42 and 49 yards. Gano went 5-for-6 with a miss wide right from 49 yards out on the right hash. Rackers made four of his six attempts.
Fantasy Impact: This should be a close race until the end.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he expects the competition between PKs Graham Gano and Neil Rackers to go on until the end of the preseason. Shanahan said both have performed well during offseason workouts.
Fantasy Impact: You would have to think Rackers has the edge but you never know.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said the team did not guarantee PK Neil Rackers anything when he signed with the team and that he will have to compete with PK Graham Gano for the job.
Fantasy Impact: Rackers is the clear favorite for the job, though. Gano has struggled of late.

Houston Texans PK Neil Rackers had seven points in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers, giving him 115 points on the season. He is tied with former PK Kris Brown for third-most points in a single season. Brown also had 115 points in 2007.
