Jacob Young Sun Jun 2 1:00pm ET

Washington Nationals outfielder Jacob Young (hand) is not in Sunday's starting lineup against the hosting Cleveland Guardians. Young is out of the lineup for the series finale in Cleveland after he was forced to leave Saturday's game early due to swelling in his right hand. For now, fantasy managers should consider the speedy 24-year-old outfielder to be day-to-day and check back to see if he's available to play in Monday's series opener against the visiting New York Mets. In his first full big-league season, Young has made himself useful in all fantasy leagues, although he still doesn't have a home run since debuting in 2023. In 48 games in 2024, he's hit .267 (39-for-146) with seven doubles, 14 RBI, 17 stolen bases and 25 runs scored. Jesse Winker is in left field and batting cleanup, while Eddie Rosario is in right field and hitting seventh on Sunday against Guardians right-hander Carlos Carrasco.

CJ Abrams Sun Jun 2 12:40pm ET

Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams (shoulder) is starting at shortstop and is batting in his customary leadoff spot on Sunday as he faces the Cleveland Guardians and veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco. Abrams is back in the starting lineup for the Nats after he jammed his shoulder while diving for a ball on Friday and was scratched on Saturday. It obviously wasn't a serious injury, though, so fantasy managers will want to get the budding 23-year-old superstar back into their lineups in all leagues. However, keep in mind that he has gone hitless in his last 14 at-bats with eight strikeouts in his last three games. The former sixth overall pick by the San Diego Padres in 2019 is currently hitting .249/.295/.456 with nine homers, 26 RBI, eight steals and 32 runs scored in 53 games. Abrams has gone hitless in five career at-bats against Carrasco.

Yainer Diaz Sun Jun 2 12:30pm ET

Houston Astros catcher Yainer Diaz is out of the starting lineup on Sunday against the visiting Minnesota Twins for the second straight day. Victor Caratini will do the catching again for right-hander Hunter Brown and will bat in the seven-hole for the team against Twins rookie right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson. The Astros are hoping a few days away from the game will let Diaz clear his head during a pretty bad slump. The 25-year-old Dominican backstop hit just .200 (17-for-85) with no homers, five doubles, 10 RBI, one walk and 15 strikeouts in 89 plate appearances over 25 games (23 starts) in the month of May to drop his season slash line to .249/.278/.358 with three homers and 23 RBI in 205 plate appearances. Caratini has hit .247 (19-for-77) on the year with three homers and 14 RBI and will be a low-upside catching option in DFS.

Jose Altuve Sun Jun 2 12:30pm ET

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve will start Sunday's contest versus the visiting Minnesota Twins on the bench and give way to Mauricio Dubon, who will start at the keystone and bat sixth against Twins rookie right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson. It's just the second time all year that Altuve hasn't started a game for the Astros. Fantasy managers will want to move him to their benches for Sunday's action. The 34-year-old perennial All-Star has avoided the injury bug so far in 2024 and continues to be a hitting machine, slashing .292/.346/.450 with nine home runs, 20 RBI, eight stolen bases and 34 runs scored in his 240 at-bats. Expect him to be back in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Dubon has done nothing but hit this year as well but only has two homers and two steals to show for it.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Sun Jun 2 12:20pm ET

For the first time since 2019, Toronto Blue Jays infielder Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is starting at third base on Sunday against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Quinn Priester. Guerrero is hitting in the three-hole. Regular third baseman Isiah Kiner-Falefa is getting the start at second base on Sunday for the series finale. Guerrero has been taking grounders at third base recently and could become an option at the hot corner for Toronto moving forward, although the bulk of his time will still likely come across the diamond at first base. Fantasy managers shouldn't get their hopes up that the 25-year-old will regain eligibility at third base in 2024. Although it hasn't come with much power (only five long balls), Guerrero has hit well so far this season, slashing .292/.390/.406 with 25 RBI, two steals and 25 runs scored in 219 at-bats. Keep him in your lineups against Priester.

Carlos Correa Sun Jun 2 12:20pm ET

Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa is getting a rare day off on Sunday as the team faces the Astros in Houston. With Correa out, Willi Castro will make the start at the 6 for the Twins and will bat sixth against Astros right-hander Hunter Brown. Correa will get a breather after starting in each of the team's last 21 games. He wrapped up the month of May on Friday by hitting .255 (25-for-98) with three home runs, nine doubles, two triples, 14 RBI, 10 walks and 22 strikeouts in 110 plate appearances over 27 games. The two-time All-Star is currently healthy and is a must-start when he's in the starting lineup in most fantasy leagues. Castro has been much better against lefties in 2024 but his hitting a respectable .260 (51-for-196) overall with four homers and seven stolen bases in a utility role for the Twins. He's never faced Brown in his career.

Mark Canha Sun Jun 2 12:10pm ET

Detroit Tigers outfielder Mark Canha (hip) is back in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox and right-hander Brayan Bello, serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup for the Tigers. Canha is back in the fold after missing the last two games due to a minor hip strain. The 35-year-old veteran outfielder is in the heart of Detroit's batting order against an up-and-coming Boston hurler who he has never faced in his career. Canha is returning to a modest .247/.358/.401 slash line this year with six home runs, 24 RBI, one stolen base and 27 runs scored in 182 at-bats and 52 games in his first season in the Motor City. He'll be attempting to extend his current hitting streak to seven games on Sunday. During his six-game streak, he's gone 9-for-21 (.429) with no homers, two doubles, four RBI, two walks and five strikeouts in 24 plate appearances.

Vaughn Grissom Sun Jun 2 12:10pm ET

The Boston Red Sox officially placed infielder Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with a right-hamstring strain and also placed infielder/outfielder Romy Gonzalez (hamstring) on the 10-day IL (retroactive to May 31) with a left-hamstring strain. In corresponding moves, right-hander Garrett Whitlock (elbow) was moved to the 60-day IL, infielder/outfielder Jamie Westbrook was selected from Triple-A Worcester and infielder/outfielder Bobby Dalbec was recalled from Worcester. Grissom suffered a mild hamstring strain on Saturday but will have to miss at least the next 10 days. Enmanuel Valdez is playing second and batting fifth on Sunday for Boston against Detroit Tigers right-hander Casey Mize, and he's the most likely to benefit from more playing time with Grissom out. Grissom got a late start to his first season in Boston due to injury and has gone just 12-for-81 (.148) with no homers or steals to this point.

Sean Manaea Sun Jun 2 10:00am ET

New York Mets starting pitcher Sean Manaea went five-and-two-thirds innings in Saturday's 10-5 loss to the Diamondbacks, striking out a season-high 10 batters but surrendering six runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks. Manaea took the loss in the game and it ended a 7-game stretch in which he had allowed three earned runs or less. On the season, the lefty is now 3-2 with a 3.73 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 57:24 K:BB over 57 innings pitched (11 starts). He'll likely face the Phillies in his next start during next weekend's London Series.

Max Schuemann Sun Jun 2 9:40am ET

Oakland Athletics shortstop Max Schuemann broke out with his first career four-hit day in Saturday's 11-9 victory over the Braves. The 26-year-old went 4-for-4 with three singles, a double, one RBI, and three runs scored. Since May 11 (19 games), Schuemann is hitting .309 (21-for-68) with two home runs, eight RBI, 10 runs scored, and two stolen bases. If he can continue hitting he could become fantasy-relevant in 12-team leagues, especially due to his positional eligibility in Yahoo leagues, able to be slotted in at 2B, SS, and OF. Schuemann is rostered in just 1% of Yahoo leagues at the moment.

Mitch Keller Sun Jun 2 9:20am ET

Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Mitch Keller threw six innings of one-run ball in Saturday's 8-1 victory over the Blue Jays. The righty allowed just five hits and a walk while striking out eight. The outing marked his fifth straight quality start, going 5-0 with a 1.34 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a 16.7% K-BB% over that stretch. The former second-round draft pick is having a solid season overall as well, going 7-3 with a 3.42 ERA (3.47 FIP), 1.22 WHIP, and a 66:20 K:BB over 12 starts (73 2/3 IP). The 28-year-old will look to keep rolling when he toes the rubber against the Twins in his next start at home on Friday.

    From RotoBaller

Marcell Ozuna Sun Jun 2 9:10am ET

Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna went 2-for-5 with four RBI in Saturday's 11-9 loss to the Athletics. The home run was his 17th of the season, most in the National League, and the RBI gave him a total of 53, good for second-most in all of baseball. Ozuna began the year hot and has yet to cool off, even hitting safely in 23 of his last 25 games. For the season, the 2x All-Star is slashing .313/.388/.611 with a .426 wOBA and 178 wRC+. Hopefully the 33-year-old can keep it up for the rest of the campaign.

    From RotoBaller

Matt Olson Sun Jun 2 8:50am ET

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in Saturday's 11-9 loss to the Athletics. The 2x All-Star also walked once, scored once, and collected two RBI in the contest. After a poor 31-game start that left his slashline at .195/.319/.363 with three home runs, the slugger has picked up the pace, going 28-for-95 (.295) with six home runs over his last 25 games and raising his season-long slashline to a more respectable .240/.328/.447. Fantasy managers may find some solace in the fact that the slugger started off 2023 slowly as well, but from June 1 through the end of the season, he hit .309 with 37 home runs, 97 RBI, and 83 runs scored.

    From RotoBaller

Michael Lorenzen Sun Jun 2 8:30am ET

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen went six-and-a-third innings in Saturday's 7-0 victory over the Marlins, allowing zero runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven on his way to picking up the win. The outing was Lorenzen's fourth straight quality start, pitching to a 1.05 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and a 21:12 K:BB in 25 2/3 IP during this stretch. The righty has been mostly good aside from two outings since coming off the IL, going 3-3 while posting a 2.96 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 44:26 K:BB on the season. The 2023 All-Star will get the Giants at home in his next start next Saturday.
