It has nothing to do with coming back from IL. If a player is drafted in the first 5 rounds and later gets dropped, he’s protected for the rest of the year. Like Skubal. I drafted him in round 1 and dropped him when he went for elbow surgery. When he came back from IL, he’s still not available.
still do not understand when protected free agents that have come back from IL are available for waivers?
Not sure what is up with players being on protected list and basically lost for the season ie. when someone goes on IL and then comes back, should they not return to available for waivers?
