The New York Yankees reinstated outfielder Giancarlo Stanton and third baseman Josh Donaldson from the injured list on Thursday, and the sluggers are set to play for the first time since April.

In addition, the team also gets back right-hander Tommy Kahnle from the 60-day IL after a rehab stint.

In anticipation of the moves, the Yankees optioned INF/OF Oswaldo Cabrera, INF/OF Franchy Cordero and LHP Matt Krook to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after Wednesday night's game.

The Yankees are off Thursday and begin a series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers on Friday night.

Stanton, 33, has been on the IL since mid-April with a strained left hamstring. He was off to a hot start, batting .269 with four home runs and 11 RBIs in 13 games before the injury.

Likewise, Donaldson has been out since early April because of a strained right hamstring. Donaldson, 37, is batting .125 (2-for-16) with one home run and one RBI through five games this season.

Kahnle has yet to pitch for the Yankees this season thanks to a biceps injury. Kahnle appeared in 13 games for the Dodgers in 2022, picking up one save and posting a 2.84 ERA in 12 2/3 innings.

He returned to the Yankees on a two-year, $11.5 million deal in December.

Also Thursday, the club transferred LHP Carlos Rodon to the 60-day injured list.
