Aaron Judge Aug 12 4:30pm ET

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge was not among the starting nine for Wednesdays contest against the Braves and right-hander Huascar Ynoa. Manager Aaron Boone confirmed that Judge was dealing with lower body tightness, which included his hips, hamstrings, and calves. The list of maladies is not reassuring for Judges status as soon as this weekend in Boston, although Boone was optimistic that he could get the Majors leading home run hitter back soon. With both Judge and Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) unavailable, the Yankees could turn to Clint Frazier, who looms as a suitable fill-in alongside Aaron Hicks and Brett Gardner in the outfield. New York will have the day off Thursday before facing the Red Sox, who have not yet announced a starter, on Friday.

Andrew Benintendi Aug 12 4:30pm ET

Boston Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi will be placed on the 10-day injured list after sustaining a strained right rib cage during Tuesdays contest versus the Rays. The move comes amidst a treacherous start to the 2020 season for the outfielder who is batting just .103 (4-for-39) through his first 14 games with a stunningly low .128 slugging percentage. While many owners have anticipated a breakout from Benintendi, he has trended in the wrong direction this season with his IL stint the impetus that some owners may have needed to let him hit the waiver wire. Kevin Pillar now figures to see everyday duties with the Boston outfield less crowded for at least the next week and a half.

Will Harris Aug 12 4:23pm ET

Washington Nationals RP Will Harris (groin) could be activated from the 10-day injured list Thursday, Aug. 13.

Chris Owings Aug 12 4:20pm ET

Colorado Rockies utilityman Chris Owings left Wednesdays contest against the D-backs early due to left hamstring tightness. Sam Hilliard took over in Owings stead, with Garrett Hampson shifting to second base. Owings has seen a solid amount of playing time early in 2020, hitting .250/.308/.444 through 14 contests. The veteran has made it his calling card to move all around the diamond, although he is primarily a DFS play for owners looking to take advantage of him hitting at Coors Field. His next chance to return to the lineup comes Friday against Texas and right-hander Lance Lynn, which would be a stout matchup.

Amed Rosario Aug 12 4:00pm ET

New York Mets shortstop Amed Rosario (illness) is out for the second straight game on Wednesday as he deals with a minor illness. Brandon Nimmo will be leading off in the game with Andres Gimenez playing shortstop. Rosario is off to a slow start to the year, slashing .207/.207/.310 with just one home run and no stolen bases. Season long fantasy owners should remain patient. Rosario should be back soon and hopefully the numbers will start showing once he's back to health.

Kyle Schwarber Aug 12 3:40pm ET

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber (knee) has been scratched from Wednesdays contest versus the Cleveland Indians with lingering soreness in his right knee. The slugger has been off to a sluggish start with a .234 batting average to go along with two home runs and six RBI. Schwarber has been getting a lot of run in left field and could see some more time as the designated hitter if his knee continues to bother him. Kris Bryant will slide over to left field and David Bote will enter the lineup at third base and bat seventh. The Cubs have a tough matchup tonight versus Carlos Carrasco and Bote is a dart throw in DFS Wednesday. Schwarber is day-to-day for now and more information should be known as the day goes on.

Kyle Schwarber Aug 12 3:40pm ET

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber (knee) has been scratched from the starting lineup on Wednesday as he is dealing with a right knee contusion. This will be the first time Schwarber is out of the starting lineup this season. There hasn't been much information provided yet as to the severity of the injury so fantasy owners should consider him day-to-day for now. Kris Bryant is covering left field in Wednesday's game while David Bote gets the start at third base.

George Springer Aug 12 3:30pm ET

Houston Astros outfielder George Springer (wrist) will return to the leadoff spot in Wednesday's game against the San Francisco Giants. Springer suffered a wrist injury last Thursday and was held out of the starting lineup until now, though he did make an appearance as a pinch runner on Tuesday. While Springer returns to the lineup, second baseman Jose Altuve will be getting a routine day off. Altuve had been the team's primary leadoff hitter with Springer out. It's been a rough year so far for Altuve, who is slashing just .187/.265/.333, but hopefully a day off can help get him back in gear.

Tyler Naquin Aug 12 3:30pm ET

Cleveland Indians outfielder Tyler Naquin will start in right field and hit seventh in Wednesday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Naquin began the season on the Injured List with a hairline fracture in his right toe. He made his first appearance as a pinch hitter in Tuesday's game. Naquin has the opportunity to hit in the heart of a productive lineup, but he's had the opportunity before and hasn't done too much with it. Last year, over 89 games, he slashed 288/.325/.467 with 10 home runs and 34 RBI. He can be left on waivers in all leagues at this point.

Wade Miley Aug 12 3:23pm ET

Cincinnati Reds LHP Wade Miley (groin) was activated from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Aug. 12. The team also optioned RHP Joel Kuhnel to their alternate training site.

Robert Gsellman Aug 12 3:20pm ET

New York Mets relief pitcher Robert Gsellman was named the starter for the Mets on Wednesday when they face the Nationals. With the season ending injury to Noah Syndergaard (elbow), Michael Wacha (shoulder) on the injured list, and Marcus Stroman opting out for the 2020 season, the Mets are shorthanded in the rotation. The intent is to start Gsellman on Wednesday and stretch him out to potentially keep him in the rotation for the foreseeable future. In 2019, Gsellman was used strictly out of the pen. He produced a 4.66 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and struck out 60 in 63 2/3 IP. While these numbers dont jump off the page, Gsellman did induce very weak contact in 2019. Impressively, he allowed only a 3.7% overall barrel rate and overall exit velocity of 85.3 mph, both figures which were in the top four percent of all of MLB. He also saw a measurable increase in velocity on most of his pitches and more heavily relied on his effective slider in 2019. Owners in redraft formats in need of starting pitching should keep an eye on Gsellman's performance on Wednesday. A solid performance could make him a deep league waiver option in the next FAAB run.

Jo Adell Aug 12 3:20pm ET

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell is back in the starting lineup on Wednesday after getting what appears to be nothing more than a routine day off on Tuesday. Adell is starting in right field and hitting eighth in the game. The highly-touted prospect is yet to hit higher than seventh in the order as he attempts to get acclimated to major league pitching. Through five games, he's 4-for-19 with no extra-base hits and 11 strikeouts. Owners in redraft leagues need to stay patient. He'll hopefully get going soon and a better spot in the lineup will come along with that.

Andrelton Simmons Aug 12 3:13pm ET

Los Angeles Angels SS Andrelton Simmons (ankle) has a chance to return to the team this weekend, according to manager Joe Maddon.

Wade Miley Aug 12 3:10pm ET

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Wade Miley (left groin strain) has been activated from the Injured List and is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Miley was placed on the Injured List after his first and only start of the season, which came on July 27 against the Chicago Cubs. Miley's one and only outing was a rough one as he gave up five earned runs in just 1 2/3 innings. Miley is someone worth keeping an eye on for spot starts throughout the year, especially when the Reds bats are going. In the process of activating Miley, the Reds options relief pitcher Joel Kuhnel to their alternate site.

Keone Kela Aug 12 3:03pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates RP Keone Kela (illness) will be activated from the injured list Thursday, Aug. 13, according to manager Derek Shelton.

Andrew Kittredge Aug 12 2:53pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays RHP Andrew Kittredge (elbow) was placed on the 45-day injured list Wednesday, Aug. 12, because of an ulnar collateral ligament sprain. The team also recalled RHP Aaron Slegers from their alternate training site.

Andrelton Simmons Aug 12 2:50pm ET

Los Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons (ankle) could return to the lineup this weekend, according to manager Joe Maddon. Simmons has been sidelined since July 28 but is steadily progressing over the past few days. Maddon also mentioned that David Fletcher will continue to see regular playing time even when Simmons returns, but it is unclear how the lineup will look. Nevertheless, Simmons could be a viable stash in standard formats due to his exposure to a potent Angels' offense.

Keone Kela Aug 12 2:30pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Keone Kela (COVID-19) will be activated off of the injured list before Thursday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. The 27-year-old missed the first three weeks of the 2020 season due to a positive COVID-19 test. Kela is expected to take over the closer's role upon his return, which instantly boosts his fantasy value. He posted a 2.12 ERA and 33/11 K/BB rate across 29 2/3 innings with the Pirates in 2019.
