Aroldis Chapman Aug 12 5:10pm ET

New York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman is set to face live hitters either Thursday or Friday, his last warmup session before being activated to the Major League roster. Chapman has yet to debut in 2020 after a positive COVID-19 test earlier in the summer. Zack Britton has primarily served as the clubs closer in Chapmans stead, and his fantasy value will presumably dip when the fireballer returns to the bullpen. As soon as Chapman is activated, he becomes a must-own in every season-long format, while Britton figures to retain value in deeper leagues or roto formats with holds and his 0.75 WHIP making the case for him.

Alex Colome Aug 12 5:10pm ET

Chicago White Sox closer Alex Colome picked up his fifth save of the season on Wednesday versus the Detroit Tigers. Colome threw a perfect ninth inning for the save and has yet to allow a run in eight games. Colome is entrenched in the closers role with the White Sox and should be owned in all formats.

Justin Verlander Aug 12 5:03pm ET

Houston Astros SP Justin Verlander (forearm) hopes to begin throwing within the next week in an attempt to return this season, according to a source Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Justin Verlander Aug 12 5:00pm ET

Houston Astros right-handed pitcher Justin Verlander has disputed that he will be shut down for the remainder of the 2020 season due to a right forearm injury that has kept him out since Opening Day. The next step in that process is for Verlander to begin throwing as soon as next week, per Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. Houstons pitching staff has been pancaked by injuries during the first third of the year and getting Verlander back in any capacity would be a major boon. Theres no guarantee that the future Hall of Famer will be able to pitch again this season, but his attempt is certainly a step in the right direction. In leagues where he has already been dropped onto the waiver wire, holding him in an IL spot until the next update may be a precinct maneuver.

Andrew Kittredge Aug 12 4:53pm ET

Updating a previous story, Tampa Bay Rays P Andrew Kittredge (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Trevor Cahill Aug 12 4:53pm ET

San Francisco Giants P Trevor Cahill was recalled from the team's alternate training site Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Will Harris Aug 12 4:50pm ET

Washington Nationals right-handed pitcher Will Harris (groin) is progressing toward being activated from the injured list for the clubs contest Thursday against the Mets. Manager Davey Martinez confirmed before Wednesdays game so long as Harris was feeling strong Thursday, he would join the teams bullpen. Inked to a $24 million deal during the off-season to secure the back end of the clubs relief corps, Harris will presumably take on a considerable role from the onset. While Daniel Hudson figures to remain the teams closer for the time being, Harris will have ample hold chances and could potentially vulture a save or two, making him a deep season-long asset.

Tim Anderson Aug 12 4:50pm ET

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and a RBI on Wednesday versus the Detroit Tigers. Anderson returned from a groin strain on Tuesday and hasnt missed a beat with the bat. The shortstop fell a double short of the cycle and is now hitting .385 on the season. Anderson remains a strong option in all formats.

Andrew Benintendi Aug 12 4:43pm ET

Boston Red Sox OF Andrew Benintendi (ribs) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Aug. 12. P Ryan Weber was recalled in a corresponding move.

Boston Red Sox OF Andrew Benintendi (ribs) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Aug. 12. P Ryan Weber was recalled in a corresponding move.

Rafael Devers Aug 12 4:43pm ET

Boston Red Sox 3B Rafael Devers (ankle) returns to the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Clint Frazier Aug 12 4:43pm ET

New York Yankees OF Aaron Judge (lower body) is not in the lineup Wednesday, Aug. 12, due to 'lower-body tightness,' according to manager Aaron Boone. OF Clint Frazier will play right field.

Aaron Judge Aug 12 4:43pm ET

New York Yankees OF Aaron Judge (lower body) is not in the lineup Wednesday, Aug. 12, due to 'lower-body tightness,' according to manager Aaron Boone. OF Clint Frazier will play right field.

Aaron Judge Aug 12 4:30pm ET

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge was not among the starting nine for Wednesdays contest against the Braves and right-hander Huascar Ynoa. Manager Aaron Boone confirmed that Judge was dealing with lower body tightness, which included his hips, hamstrings, and calves. The list of maladies is not reassuring for Judges status as soon as this weekend in Boston, although Boone was optimistic that he could get the Majors leading home run hitter back soon. With both Judge and Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) unavailable, the Yankees could turn to Clint Frazier, who looms as a suitable fill-in alongside Aaron Hicks and Brett Gardner in the outfield. New York will have the day off Thursday before facing the Red Sox, who have not yet announced a starter, on Friday.

Andrew Benintendi Aug 12 4:30pm ET

Boston Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi will be placed on the 10-day injured list after sustaining a strained right rib cage during Tuesdays contest versus the Rays. The move comes amidst a treacherous start to the 2020 season for the outfielder who is batting just .103 (4-for-39) through his first 14 games with a stunningly low .128 slugging percentage. While many owners have anticipated a breakout from Benintendi, he has trended in the wrong direction this season with his IL stint the impetus that some owners may have needed to let him hit the waiver wire. Kevin Pillar now figures to see everyday duties with the Boston outfield less crowded for at least the next week and a half.

Will Harris Aug 12 4:23pm ET

Washington Nationals RP Will Harris (groin) could be activated from the 10-day injured list Thursday, Aug. 13.

Chris Owings Aug 12 4:20pm ET

Colorado Rockies utilityman Chris Owings left Wednesdays contest against the D-backs early due to left hamstring tightness. Sam Hilliard took over in Owings stead, with Garrett Hampson shifting to second base. Owings has seen a solid amount of playing time early in 2020, hitting .250/.308/.444 through 14 contests. The veteran has made it his calling card to move all around the diamond, although he is primarily a DFS play for owners looking to take advantage of him hitting at Coors Field. His next chance to return to the lineup comes Friday against Texas and right-hander Lance Lynn, which would be a stout matchup.

Amed Rosario Aug 12 4:00pm ET

New York Mets shortstop Amed Rosario (illness) is out for the second straight game on Wednesday as he deals with a minor illness. Brandon Nimmo will be leading off in the game with Andres Gimenez playing shortstop. Rosario is off to a slow start to the year, slashing .207/.207/.310 with just one home run and no stolen bases. Season long fantasy owners should remain patient. Rosario should be back soon and hopefully the numbers will start showing once he's back to health.

Kyle Schwarber Aug 12 3:40pm ET

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber (knee) has been scratched from Wednesdays contest versus the Cleveland Indians with lingering soreness in his right knee. The slugger has been off to a sluggish start with a .234 batting average to go along with two home runs and six RBI. Schwarber has been getting a lot of run in left field and could see some more time as the designated hitter if his knee continues to bother him. Kris Bryant will slide over to left field and David Bote will enter the lineup at third base and bat seventh. The Cubs have a tough matchup tonight versus Carlos Carrasco and Bote is a dart throw in DFS Wednesday. Schwarber is day-to-day for now and more information should be known as the day goes on.

Kyle Schwarber Aug 12 3:40pm ET

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber (knee) has been scratched from the starting lineup on Wednesday as he is dealing with a right knee contusion. This will be the first time Schwarber is out of the starting lineup this season. There hasn't been much information provided yet as to the severity of the injury so fantasy owners should consider him day-to-day for now. Kris Bryant is covering left field in Wednesday's game while David Bote gets the start at third base.
