Edward Cabrera Sun Sep 25 3:10pm ET

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Edward Cabrera (ankle) has left Sunday's start early after twisting his right ankle while fielding a bunt in the fourth inning. Cabrera threw some warmup pitches after the injury occurred, according to beat writer Christina De Nicola, but he was pulled from the contest anyway. Cabrera surrendered two earned runs to go along with three punchouts over 3 2/3 innings before leaving the game. The team should provide an update on his status shortly. Jeff Brigham has taken over for the Marlins.

Dustin May Sun Sep 25 3:00pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Dustin May (back) could work as a reliever in the postseason if he's able to make it back during the playoffs, according to manager Dave Roberts. The nature of May's injury is unclear, and the team has been coy about it, but if Roberts is indicating that he has a chance to pitch in the playoffs, that's somewhat encouraging. May was put on the injured list earlier this week after posting a 4.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 29:14 K:BB over 30 innings (six starts) this season.

Madison Bumgarner Sun Sep 25 2:30pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner will not pitch again this season, according to manager Torey Lovullo. Lovullo told reporters that there is nothing wrong with the veteran southpaw and that he's not injured. Bumgarner is coming off a strong six-inning effort against the Dodgers in his previous start and will end the season on a high note. The D-Backs want to take a look at some of their younger arms before the year is over, so the veteran Bumgarner will end his year with a 4.88 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 112:49 K:BB over 158 2/3 innings on the year.

Freddie Freeman Sun Sep 25 2:20pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (illness) is back in the starting lineup on Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals. The All-Star first baseman missed Saturday's game with an illness but he's good to go on Sunday. Freeman is having a great first season with the Dodgers, slashing .328/.405/.516 with 20 long balls, 94 RBI, and 12 stolen bases over 579 at-bats.

Luis Perdomo Sun Sep 25 2:00pm ET

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Luis Perdomo (calf) has been placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Sept. 24, with a right calf strain. This move clears up a roster spot for the Brewers to activate starter Freddy Peralta (shoulder), who is starting on Sunday vs. the Cincinnati Reds. The 29-year-old Perdomo has a 3.80 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 23 2/3 innings of relief this season.

Daniel Duarte Sun Sep 25 1:50pm ET

Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Daniel Duarte (elbow) has been activated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Louisville. Duarte will get some work in at the team's Triple-A affiliate in order to rehab his elbow. He appeared in just three games out of the Reds' bullpen this season but he's got a shot to get some work in with the big league club before the year is over.

    From RotoBaller

Art Warren Sun Sep 25 1:40pm ET

Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Art Warren (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list. This was just a procedural move to clear some roster space. Warren is going to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing elbow surgery earlier in September anyway. He should be ready to return for spring training next year.

Max Castillo Sun Sep 25 1:33pm ET

Kansas City Royals RHP Max Castillo was recalled from Class AAA Omaha Sunday, Sept. 25. The team also optioned RHP Collin Snider to Class AAA Omaha.
