2024 RTSports Outlook

Swift had double-digit carries just three times in 14 games last season. He still was 21st overall in fantasy running back scoring. He made big plays with the ball in his hands. He scored eight touchdowns and averaged 5.5 yards per carry. He had 931 total yards on the year. Swift had some injury issues once again, which limited him some throughout the year. You still have to wonder what kind of season he has if he gets most of the work at running back for the Lions. Swift will look to get more touches this year and emerge as the workhorse back in an explosive Eagles offense. He has some backs to compete with for playing time, but seems the favorite to emerge as the starter. Swift is a powerful back with top speed. He can get to the next level in a hurry. Swift is tough to bring down in the open field. Swift will drop some passes but is a very capable route runner and three-down back. Swift has yet to play a full season in the NFL, so injuries are a concern.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Swift is yet to play a full season but has been 16th, 15th and 21st in fantasy running back scoring. Injuries are a concern but this guy can be an elite fantasy back if he can stay on the field and get the touches. And the move to Philadelphia makes him even more intriguing. Take Swift as a No. 2 fantasy back and hope for the best. For now, look for around 1,300 total yards, 50 receptions and eight scores.

The Chicago Bears signing of former Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift was one of the first moves of free agency, and head coach Matt Eberflus suggested he will be a passing game weapon for the organization. "We just felt that we wanted a home-run hitter there. I think D'Andre brings that. We wanted a weapon back -; a guy who could be a weapon out of the backfield," Eberflus said. "I know that in situational football it's very difficult to be able to have the two guys outside covered, two tight ends covered, and then you got another situation where you have the weapon back inside. So that was critical." It sounds like Chicago is planning to utilize Swift out of the backfield more often, which was a role he excelled in while in Detroit. Swift posted just a 10% target share in his lone season in Philadelphia after being at 15.1% in 2022 and 18.4% in 2021. With Chicago almost certainly slated to take USC's Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Swift could see a ton of usage underneath as a receiver while Williams feels out the NFL game.

Dynasty | The Bears have signed running back D'Andre Swift to a three year, $24.5 million contract. Dynasty Analysis: Rumors were swirling early in the day that the Bears were very interested and those proved to be true once the free agency period began. Swift was solid in his only year with the Eagles, posting 1,049 rushing yards and catching 39 passes. The landing spot for him is curious, though. Chicago already has Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson on the depth chart and running back simply didn't seem like a primary need. It seems likely Swift will get most of the work but he's clearly not going to be someone who is relied upon to be a workhorse for the Bears. Swift is currently our RB16 but his ranking may slip a bit with this landing spot.

Mar 11 12:40pm ET

The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with free-agent running back D'Andre Swift on a three-year, $24 million deal on Monday, according to sources. After having a career year with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024, Swift now heads to Chicago to be a big piece of new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron's offense. The 25-year-old made his first Pro Bowl in 2023 by rushing for 1,049 yards and five touchdowns on a career-high 229 rushing attempts in 16 regular-season games. He also caught 39 passes for 214 yards and another score through the air. Swift will likely be working with USC quarterback Caleb Williams, whom the Bears are expected to take first overall in the draft, and Swift should be Chicago's new featured back. However, the move to Chicago hurts his overall fantasy upside, as he'll likely lose more backfield touches to Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson.

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift took 10 carries for 34 yards and added four receptions on as many targets for 32 yards during the team's 9-32 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 24-year-old started the game with a few solid runs, but the Eagles again got away from the run game and went with a heavy passing attack that resulted in little to no points scored. Swift was a victim of play calling toward the end of the season and now enters the offseason as a free agent. It would not be a shock to see Philadelphia prioritize resigning the former Detroit Lion, as he was a big part of their success at the start of the year.

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift (illness) has been removed from the injury report ahead of Monday's Wild-Card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Swift sat out of the regular season finale due to an illness. It's likely that Swift would've played if it was playoff game, but team didn't want to risk anything. The expectation is that Swift would be back to his normal role. In fact, Swift could have an increased role as a pass-catcher with wide receiver A.J. Brown (knee) ruled out for this game.

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift will go on the road to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the NFL playoffs. The 24-year-old was given the week off last week due to an illness, but he is at no risk of missing this week's matchup after putting in full practice participation. The Eagles were running the ball well last week when they had the chance but went down so early that they abandoned the run game altogether. This week's matchup is much different. The Buccaneers allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. However, Swift torched them for 130 yards the last time he faced them back in Week 3. The former Detroit Lion will be a risky option for DFS managers on Monday night due to the Eagles' offensive struggles and the tough matchup.

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift (illness) was held out of the Week 18 loss to the New York Giants last Sunday, but he's now put in two straight full practices on Thursday and Friday and should be just fine to play in Monday night's wild-card postseason tilt against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We're fully expecting the Eagles to remove Swift entirely from their injury report after Saturday's final practice of the week. Swift is going to be Philly's primary backfield weapon for the first round of the playoffs, but he has two big things working against him. For starters, the Eagles offense is entering postseason play out of sync with three of their star players fighting off injuries. Secondly, the Bucs defense was one of the worst matchups for opposing RBs during the regular season. If Swift doesn't find the end zone on Monday, he could disappoint in DFS lineups.

Jan 11 8:40pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift (illness) is apparently feeling much better this week and was a full participant in the team's first practice of the week on Thursday. Swift was questionable for the Week 18 regular season finale against the New York Giants last Sunday and was eventually held out as a precaution. The 24-year-old should be ready to rock as Philly's lead back in Monday night's wild-card playoff matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road. The Eagles could choose to lean more on their ground game on Monday with quarterback Jalen Hurts (finger) and receivers A.J. Brown (knee) and DeVonta Smith (ankle) ailing, but the matchup against Tampa also isn't great for Philly's backfield. The Buccaneers defense allowed the third-fewest half-PPR points per game (15.4) to opposing RBs all year.

Jan 7 3:20pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift (illness) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the New York Giants. Swift had been listed as questionable after practicing in a limited capacity on Friday, but he found himself trending in the wrong direction ahead of kickoff. With Swift sidelined, Kenneth Gainwell is in line to operate as the Eagles' lead running back. Notably, he's averaging 4.3 catches in games where he plays at least 50 percent of offensive snaps. Therefore, he's a solid RB3 option in most fantasy leagues, especially PPR formats. Boston Scott and Rashaad Penny could also earn some opportunities out of the backfield on Sunday.

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift (illness) is listed as questionable for the Week 18 matchup against the New York Giants. Swift was a late addition to the injury report as he popped up there on Friday with an illness. Usually, players tend to play through illnesses, but the Eagles do already have a postseason spot locked up. Fantasy managers will need to check back for another update, but most likely Swift will play. Otherwise, the Eagles will likely use a committee approach to fill the void.

Dec 31 6:20pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift took 13 carries for 61 yards and caught his lone target for a five-yard gain during the team's 35-31 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The 24-year-old did not see nearly enough utilization against the league's worst run defense and ended up with an incredibly disappointing fantasy performance in what was the title game for many managers. Swift gained a majority of his yardage in a single drive during the second half and did little else outside of it. Kenneth Gainwell continues to see plenty of snaps on passing downs and remains a thorn in the side of Swift's fantasy value. The Eagles' starting back will be an RB2 heading into the final week of the regular season.

Dec 29 9:20pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift will take on the Arizona Cardinals in the team's final home game of the regular season in Week 17. The 24-year-old found the end zone for the first time since Week 11 last week in the Eagles win over the Giants and now has a smash matchup to capitalize on against Arizona. The Cardinals have given up the most fantasy points to the running back position this season, the second-most rushing yards, and have struggled mightily against pass-catching backs. Kenneth Gainwell has been used as the primary receiving back over the past few weeks, capping Swift's fantasy upside. However, due to the matchup, we should see the former Detroit Lion worked back into the receiving game, and he should continue to see his 15-plus touches against the league's worst run defense. It has been frustrating to start Swift at times this year, but he should be in all lineups this weekend and considered a top-tier RB2 with top 12 upside.

Dec 25 8:20pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift took 20 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown during the team's 33-25 win over the New York Giants. His five-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter was his first since Week 11 against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 24-year-old ran well in this game but gave up plenty of snaps to Kenneth Gainwell, who took all of the targets out of the backfield and recorded 6.8 yards per carry. This has been a trend over the past few weeks. With Gainwell seeing plenty of work as a receiver, it is capping the upside of Swift for fantasy purposes. Thankfully, the former Detroit Lion is getting plenty of rush attempts and remains an RB2 heading into Week 17 when the Eagles take on the Arizona Cardinals.

Dec 24 8:20am ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift rushed for 74 yards but was held out of the end zone for the fourth straight game in a Week 15 road loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Swift will now head back home to face off against the New York Giants in Week 16. The Giants have been generous to opposing running backs this season as they allow the 10th-most fantasy points per game to the position. The main concern with Swift, as always, is whether Jalen Hurts will vulture all of his short touchdowns. That being said, this game could provide a positive game script for Swift as the Giants are unlikely to be able to keep up with the Eagles on the scoreboard. Swift is on the map as a low-end RB2 in Week 16.

Dec 19 8:40am ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift took 18 carries for 74 yards and caught two of three targets for one yard during the team's 17-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The 24-year-old almost had a much better performance but was dragged down on the one-yard line after running into a teammate. The usage was much better this week for Swift, who had his highest touch total since Week 9. Unfortunately, it was the fourth week in a row that he failed to reach double-digit fantasy points. With quarterback Jalen Hurts struggling over the past few weeks and clearly not at 100%, expect Philadelphia to run the ball at a higher rate over the next three weeks, as their schedule is not nearly as brutal. Swift has been disappointing, but he will remain on the RB2 radar next week against the Giants.

From RotoBaller

Dec 15 8:10pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift will go on the road to take on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15 on Monday night. The 24-year-old has had an abysmal three-week stretch for fantasy purposes but finally has a matchup to capitalize on this week. The Seahawks allow the fifth-most fantasy points per game to running backs this year and are tied for the second-most touchdowns allowed to the position. While quarterback Jalen Hurts typically takes the goal line touchdowns due to the success of the "Brotherly Shove" quarterback sneak, Swift has a real chance to score from further away against the Seattle run defense. At the very least, this should be a game where the Eagles rely more heavily on the run game and give the fourth-year back enough carries to succeed for fantasy managers. Consider Swift an RB2 heading into the first week of the fantasy playoffs.

From RotoBaller

Dec 11 8:50am ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift took 11 carries for 39 yards during the team's 13-33 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14. After seeing just six carries last week, the 24-year-old nearly doubled his carry count Sunday but failed to record a target and ran for just 3.6 yards per carry. Kenneth Gainwell continued to see heavy usage on passing downs even though he did not record a target either. The schedule for Philadelphia opens up over the next four weeks and could give the team the opportunity to change their offensive mindset and run the ball at a higher rate. While fantasy managers are likely frustrated with Swift, he could be a key contributor in the fantasy playoffs due to the upcoming schedule. Consider the former Detroit Lion an RB2 next week against Seattle.

Dec 8 10:30am ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift will take on the Cowboys in Dallas on Sunday night. The 24-year-old suffered an injury last week at the end of the loss to San Francisco, resulting in a trip to the locker room, but has practiced this week with no injury designation. Swift recorded season-lows in carries and rushing yards as a starter last week as the Eagles got away from the run game almost entirely after their first few drives. It has been a hot topic around the team this week, so there is a good chance the former Detroit Lions will get the squeaky wheel treatment this week against Dallas. With that said, the Cowboys allow the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs and held Swift to just 43 yards on 18 carries in their last meeting. While the Eagles' top back should be in the RB2 mix, his fantasy scoring ceiling could be capped this week unless he finds the end zone.

From RotoBaller

Dec 6 6:10pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift practiced on Wednesday. The 24-year-old was on the receiving end of a hard hit in the Week 13 meeting with the San Francisco 49ers, resulting in a trip to the locker room. As a result, most had assumed he'd at least miss a practice or two. However, it appears he'll be free of an injury designation ahead of the NFC East clash with the Cowboys. Swift has played well enough in his first season in Philly, amassing 783 rushing yards off 167 carries while pulling in 36 catches for 208 yards. He's also combined for five touchdowns. With that in mind, Swift warrants starting consideration in all fantasy lineups. But he may have a tough time getting anything going versus a potent Cowboys defense.
