2024 RTSports Outlook

Claypool had a really disappointing season. He was shipped to the Bears to help their passing game, but got very little work with his new team. He ended the season with 46 receptions for 451 yards and a touchdown. He had just three games with double-digit fantasy points all season. Claypool will get the offseason to work in the offense and get a better rapport with Justin Fields. He could be the third option at receiver behind D.J. Moore and Darnell Mooney, though. Claypool has two seasons with 850-plus yards but has never topped 900 yards in a season. Claypool is a very tall receiver that has good quickness for a man of his size. He does lack a little top speed but runs solid routes and can be an asset in the red zone because of his size. He also does a good job of making the acrobatic catch. He will drop some passes, having 15 drops in three seasons. Consistency and maturity have been an issue for him to start his career.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Claypool took a step backwards last year. He could improve but don't expect a huge jump in a more run-heavy offense he is like the third or fourth option in the passing game. Consider him depth material for fantasy teams. Claypool can get around 60 receptions for 800 yards and five scores.

Miami Dolphins tight end Durham Smythe (ankle) and wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) were both listed as limited participants at Thursday's practice. Both players were also limited at practice on Wednesday. Smythe and Claypool should be available to play this weekend against the Washington Commanders, but they are not on the fantasy radar. Smythe has only 18 receptions for 178 yards and no touchdowns in 10 games with the Dolphins this year. Claypool, meanwhile, has only played in three games with Miami since being acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bears. In those three games, he has one catch on two targets for a 15-yard gain.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) was limited in practice on Wednesday ahead of his team's Week 13 matchup against the Washington Commanders. Claypool has not taken the field since Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs but he could be heading in the right direction as Week 13 approaches. Stay tuned to his participation in practices on Thursday and Friday.

Miami Dolphins wide receivers Chase Claypool (knee) and Robbie Chosen are inactive for the Week 12 contest against the division-rival New York Jets on Friday. Chose, who was re-signed this week after temporarily being cut, is a healthy scratch. Claypool has played in only three games since the Dolphins acquired him in a trade with the Chicago Bears. He's been a non-factor, catching one pass on two targets for a 15-yard gain. Both Claypool and Chosen aren't anywhere near the fantasy radar and probably won't be for the rest of the year as receiving depth for Miami.

Miami Dolphins tight end Durham Smythe (ankle) and wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) are active for Friday's game against the New York Jets. Both players were limited participants in practice on Thursday. Smythe, who hasn't played since Week 9, has 17 catches for 168 yards in 2023 but continues to search for his first touchdown of the season. Meanwhile, Claypool has just once catch since being traded from Chicago to Miami. Neither pass-catcher belongs on the fantasy radar in Week 12.

Miami Dolphins wide receivers Tyreek Hill (hand) and Chase Claypool (knee) were both listed as limited on Tuesday's estimated injury report after the team held a walkthrough practice. Meanwhile, Braxton Berrios (hamstring) was listed as a full-go. Hill left the Week 11 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday and went to the locker room to have his hand looked at before eventually returning. The 29-year-old Cheetah could not be contained, going for 10 catches (11 targets) for 146 yards and a touchdown in the 20-13 victory. Hill comes into Week 12 as the overall WR1 in half-PPR scoring this year. His hand injury is nothing serious and won't keep him from playing this Friday against the New York Jets, where he'll be a locked-in WR1 in all fantasy lineups.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) has been ruled out for Week 11 against the Las Vegas Raiders after undergoing a minor knee procedure. Head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters on Friday that Claypool was week-to-week after the surgery and now he's been officially ruled out for Week 11. He's made little to no impact as a member of the Dolphins, hauling in just one reception (two targets) for 15 yards in three games since being traded from Chicago. It's highly unlikely that he will recover any sort of fantasy value this season and can be left on the waiver wire.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) had a "minor procedure" on his knee during the bye last week and is considered week-to-week, according to head coach Mike McDaniel. Claypool hasn't practiced this week and will most likely be officially ruled out on Friday's final Week 11 injury report. The Dolphins acquired Claypool midseason from the Chicago Bears, but the 25-year-old has just one catch on two targets for 15 yards in three games for Miami. The former second-round pick in 2020 out of Notre Dame by the Pittsburgh Steelers has been a disappointment ever since putting up nine touchdowns in 16 games in his rookie campaign. Claypool remains well off the fantasy radar, although it appears he has a chance to play again in 2023.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Braxton Berrios (hamstring) was limited in practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday. Meanwhile, receiver Chase Claypool (knee) missed practice for the second straight day. It's not a good sign for Claypool, especially coming off a bye week. Berrios has played in all nine games this year but has only 20 catches for 194 yards and one touchdown as depth behind Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Cedrick Wilson Jr. Claypool came over in a midseason trade from the Chicago Bears and has just one catch for 15 yards in his three games for Miami. Both Berrios and Claypool should stay on your league's waiver wire.

Miami Dolphins wide receivers Chase Claypool (knee) and Braxton Berrios (hamstring) did not set foot on the practice field on Wednesday. It's not a great sign for either receiver, especially coming off the team's Week 10 bye. As long as Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle remain healthy, Claypool and Berrios don't really have any intrigue in fantasy leagues. Claypool has only played three games with the Dolphins and has just one reception on two targets for 15 yards. Meanwhile, Berrios has 20 receptions for 194 yards and a touchdown in nine games played.
