Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert plans to start just seven days after undergoing hand surgery in what is a big game for both teams when the Chargers play host to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night football.
Both teams enter the Week 14 finale at 8-4. The Eagles are on top of the NFC East but a lot would drop them two games behind a potential bye in the first round of the NFC playoffs. The Chargers are sitting in the sixth spot in the AFC, somewhat comfortable in the playoff picture with Indianapolis losing quarterback Daniel Jones for the season, but they can also pull even with 9-4 Buffalo with a win.
ODDS AND TRENDS
Philadelphia travels cross-country riding a two-game losing streak but was still a consensus 2.5-point favorite as of Monday evening. The line had been trimmed to 2.0 at BetRivers, where 71% of the spread-line money has backed the Eagles. Philadelphia's -141 moneyline has also attacked 79% of the money.
The 41.5 total points line has seen the Over draw 65% of the money and 72% of the total bets. It's worth noting that seven of the Chargers' past eight Monday night games have gone Under the total points line.
PLAYER PROPS
--Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Anytime TD (+100 at BetRivers): Hurts said the "Tush Push" is getting harder to run successfully as defenses plan against it. But the fact remains that he has scored at least one touchdown in each of his past five road games against AFC teams, according to the book. Hurts did not score in the 24-15 loss to Chicago, but had rushed for three touchdowns in Philadelphia's previous two games.
--Chargers WR Ladd McConkey 50+ Receiving Yards (-131 at DraftKings): This has been the popular player prop among Los Angeles players ahead of the game. McConkey has at least 50 receiving yards in six games this season, but has averaged just 26 over his past two games. Friskier options are available on 60+ (+121) and 70+ (+189).
INSIDE EDGE
The Chargers' Quentin Johnston has 10 first-read targets inside the red zone this season, tied for the sixth-most among NFL wide receivers this season according to Inside Edge's Remarkable engine. Inside Edge also notes that Hurts has completed just 65.9% of his passes with motion this season, the ninth-worst among qualified quarterbacks.
KEY STAT
Philadelphia has been outscored 84-56 in the fourth quarter this season.
"Some of these answers, when you are trying to fix things -- it is hard -- they aren't clear," Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said. "I never feel like when we've had a lead we've been conservative. Obviously we're on a two-game losing streak right now. It's just about getting back to that confidence and that consistency."
Sirianni said this week that associate head coach Kevin Patullo would remain the offensive play-caller. Patullo's New Jersey home was pelted with eggs early Saturday morning, hours after the Eagles lost to the Bears.
INJURY REPORT
Herbert is expected to be in the lineup despite the break in his left (non-throwing) hand, with the 27-year-old quarterback going through pre-game warmups on Monday. He sustained the fracture during the first quarter of the Chargers' 31-14 home win over the Las Vegas Raiders last week. He left the contest and later returned with a cast to protect the hand.
Herbert underwent surgery Monday afternoon, and a plate and multiple screws were inserted into the hand. He was a limited practice participant on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
"I'm doing everything I can to be out there," Herbert said. "I'd fight through anything for those guys. But at the end of the day, you've got to be realistic and listen to the doctors, because they know best. We'll see how it goes."
Herbert has passed for 2,842 yards and 21 touchdowns against 10 interceptions
Trey Lance would take over at quarterback against the Eagles if Herbert can't play or is forced to leave the game. One player to lean on will be rookie running back Omarion Hampton, who is expected back after missing the past seven games with a left ankle fracture. He is listed as questionable.
The Eagles will be without star defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who underwent procedures on both shoulders earlier this week.
Philadelphia six-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Lane Johnson (foot) didn't practice all week and was ruled out Saturday. Safety Marcus Epps (shoulder) and offensive tackle Myles Hinton (back) are questionable. Outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips (concussion) practiced in full on Saturday and didn't receive a status designation.
For the Chargers, tight end Tucker Fisk (ankle) was the only player ruled out. In addition to Herbert and Hampton, running back Hassan Haskins (hamstring) and defensive lineman Otito Ogbonnia (elbow) are questionable.
Hampton was a full practice participant on Friday and Saturday. He was injured in Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
THEY SAID IT
"We've got a lot of opportunity in front of us. It takes a tight-knit group, it takes a collective and those are things we can control. You never run from accountability. ... There are a lot of things we can improve on and have done well in the past. We just need to be more consistent and get everybody on the same page." --Hurts
PREDICTION
For teams that started off the season looking like top-end contenders in their respective conferences, both are entering the stretch run with significant questions. The Eagles' defense will be a handful for a Chargers offense counting on two injured starters carrying the load in the pass and ground games. By the same token, Philadelphia's injury-plagued offensive line faces a tough task against Los Angeles' solid front seven. Red zone scoring and turnovers will likely prove the difference. --Eagles 26, Chargers 23
Five Fantasy Takeaways: Week 14
Seattle Seahawks rookie tight end Elijah Arroyo (knee) could miss the Week 15 game against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday after injuring his knee in Sunday's blowout win over the Atlanta Falcons, according to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic. "This week's probably in jeopardy for him," head coach Mike Macdonald said. The 22-year-old second-rounder out of Miami was unable to haul in his only target against Atlanta before leaving the game. Arroyo has pretty much only been stash-worthy in dynasty/keeper fantasy leagues this year, as he has only 15 catches for 179 yards and one touchdown on 26 targets in his first 13 NFL games. If Arroyo cannot play in a solid matchup against Indy this weekend, fellow TE AJ Barner will have more streaming value as Seattle's top pass-catching tight end in Week 15.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul to their practice squad on Monday, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN. Pierre-Paul last played in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints in 2023, recording only two tackles (one solo) in three games. The three-time Pro Bowler was the 15th overall pick by the New York Giants in 2010 out of South Florida. The 36-year-old spent the first eight years of his NFL career with the G-Men before playing with the Buccaneers from 2018-21. JPP has 94.5 career sacks and 631 tackles (456 solo) in his 14 NFL seasons. If Pierre-Paul makes it up to Tampa's 53-man active roster for the remainder of the 2025 season, he'll almost certainly be in a rotational role for the Bucs' defense.

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll said that he didn't have an update on Monday on quarterback Geno Smith's right-shoulder injury that he suffered in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN. "I won't know for a couple of days," Carroll said. Smith injured his fingers and shoulder in Week 14, but it was his right-shoulder injury that knocked him out of the game in the second half, and he never returned. The 35-year-old apparently avoided serious damage to his throwing shoulder, but the lack of an update suggests Smith's availability for Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles is up in the air. At this point, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the struggling Raiders give backup Kenny Pickett his first start of the year against his former team. Smith has been a bust in his first year in Vegas, completing 67% of his passes for 2,648 yards and 16 touchdowns. He leads the league in interceptions (16) and sacks taken (49).

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (hand) is expected to start on Monday night against the visiting Philadelphia Eagles at SoFi Stadium, a source told Omar Ruiz of NFL Network. Herbert, who had been listed as questionable after breaking his left hand last Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, is wearing a padded glove on his surgically repaired non-throwing hand. The 27-year-old will be active on Monday night, but he might take most, if not all, of the snaps out of the shotgun formation to protect his hand. While his surgically repaired hand won't be a factor in Herbert throwing the football, this is a matchup for fantasy managers to shy away from this week in single-QB leagues. Philly's defense could get plenty of pressure on Herbert, even without star defensive tackle Jalen Carter (shoulder), and they've allowed the fewest passing TDs (12) to QBs this year.
From RotoBaller
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. (leg) remains on the injury report and was listed as a limited participant in Monday's walkthrough practice, according to FOX Sports' Greg Auman. The Bucs continue to limit Godwin's practice availability early in the week since his return from a fractured fibula in Week 12. The 29-year-old played only 36% of the snaps in Week 12, catching two of four targets for nine yards. Godwin has seen more of the field the last two weeks, though, playing at least 66% of the snaps and combining for eight catches and 133 yards on 13 targets. He had a season-high five receptions on eight targets for 55 yards in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints. Godwin should be fine to play on Thursday night against the division-rival Atlanta Falcons, but the potential return of receivers Mike Evans (collarbone) and Jalen McMillan (neck) will cut into Godwin's target share going forward.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said that activating running back Trey Benson (knee) off Injured Reserve and giving him another week on the shelf "is an option" if he can't check all the appropriate health boxes by Wednesday, according to Tyler Drake of Arizona Sports. Benson has not played since suffering a knee injury in Week 4 that required surgery. It's possible that the 23-year-old second-year RB from Florida State needs another week, and it's also possible that he's held out for the remainder of the season with the Cardinals out of the playoff hunt. Benson was cleared to return to practice two weeks ago. He initially was limited in practice before sitting out all of last week, suggesting he may have suffered a setback. Emari Demercado (ankle) has also missed the last few games, leaving Bam Knight and Michael Carter to share backfield duties. Knight could be in line for lead-back work again in Week 15 versus the Houston Texans.
From RotoBaller
Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton (knee) was listed as a non-participant for the team's walkthrough practice on Monday, according to Greg Auman of FOX Sports. Otton didn't appear to get hurt in Sunday's upset loss to the New Orleans Saints, but his Week 15 status is worth watching over the next two days before a Thursday night showdown against the division-rival Atlanta Falcons. Otton caught three of his four targets for 19 yards on Sunday. The 26-year-old hasn't gone over 30 receiving yards in a game since a season-high 82-yard performance in the loss to the New England Patriots on Nov. 9. He also has yet to score in 2025. Otton has two more chances to return to practice, but even if he's active, he'll be more of a TE2 option for fantasy managers against Atlanta, especially if receivers Mike Evans (collarbone) and Jalen McMillan (neck) are able to return.
From RotoBaller
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Jalen McMillan (neck) was listed as limited on Monday's estimated injury report, according to Greg Auman of FOX Sports. McMillan is trying to make his way back from multiple fractures in his neck and ligament damage that he suffered in a preseason game in August. The 24-year-old second-year pass-catcher has a chance to play for the first time this year in Week 15 against the division-rival Atlanta Falcons. Veteran Mike Evans (collarbone) could play on Thursday, too. McMillan, a third-rounder in 2024 out of Washington, had a solid 37-461-8 line in 13 games in his rookie campaign. He was in line for a significant role alongside Evans and Chris Godwin Jr. before his preseason injury. McMillan is still a big part of Tampa's future, but he may struggle for consistent playing time in a now-crowded Tampa receiving room that also features productive rookies Emeka Egbuka and Tez Johnson.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. (knee) is on the team's Week 15 injury report and was listed as limited for Monday's estimated practice, according to Tori McElhaney of AtlantaFalcons.com. Pitts looked fine in the team's Week 14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, catching six of his 10 targets for a season-high 90 yards while playing 92% of the offensive snaps. The Falcons are likely just giving the 25-year-old a little rest going into Thursday's divisional clash against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Pitts' 10 targets on Sunday matched a season high, and he's had 13 catches on 18 targets for 172 yards the last two weeks with top wideout Drake London (knee) sidelined with a PCL sprain. If London misses a third straight game this week, Pitts will once again have more upside as a TE1 for fantasy managers. In the Week 1 loss to Tampa, Pitts had seven catches on eight targets for 59 yards.

Dynasty | Jets quarterback Brady Cook completed 14-of-30 passes for 163 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in a loss to the Dolphins. Dynasty Analysis: Cook went from the practice squad to the game this week when Tyrod Taylor exited with a groin injury. It was a rough day for the rookie but hardly his fault as he was never expected to play. With Justin Fields nursing a knee injury, he could start next week. Cook could be an add in Superflex leagues if you need a starter but is hardly looking like a long-term asset.
Dynasty | Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy completed 16-of-23 passes for 163 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in a blowout win against Washington. Dynasty Analysis: And with that, there's hope. McCarthy was efficient in this one and while his yards per attempt are that of a game manager and the fact he simply cannot find Justin Jefferson is troublesome, McCarthy at least looked capable this week. He'll need to string together more good performances to avoid Minnesota looking for competition next season if it's not already too late. McCarthy's ADP plunge will at least pause for a week.
Dynasty | Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold completed 20-of-30 passes for 249 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in a win against Atlanta. Dynasty Analysis: And yet again, Darnold feasted on a bad team. This is the narrative so far again this year for Danold, who has looked amazing when the lights aren't bright and awful when they are. It's a concern in reality but his fantasy season has been anything but a disaster. He should be solid again next week as he'll take on a Daniel Jones-less Colts squad. Darnold's value is pretty static at the moment.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (collarbone) was listed as limited on Monday's estimated injury report, according to FOX Sports' Greg Auman. Evans resumed practicing last week for the first time since breaking his collarbone in Week 7, but he was held out of the upset loss on Sunday to the New Orleans Saints. Even with a short week upcoming on Thursday night versus the division-rival Atlanta Falcons, Evans has a real chance to come off Injured Reserve to make his return in Week 15. Fellow wideout Jalen McMillan (neck) is also in play to make his 2025 debut this week, so the Bucs could be getting some key pass-catchers back as they try to win the NFC South division in the final four weeks of the season. The 32-year-old Evans is a future Hall of Famer, but he'll be very risky as a starter in fantasy lineups this week if he's active with the Bucs potentially looking to limit his snaps following a lengthy absence.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London (knee) was listed as a non-participant on the team's estimated injury report on Monday, according to Greg Auman of FOX Sports. London hasn't practiced or played since spraining the PCL in his knee in Week 11, and although he's been listed as day-to-day this week, it's bad news that the 24-year-old is a DNP on Monday with the team's next game coming on Thursday night versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. London is going to need to get back on the practice field on Tuesday or Wednesday to have a shot at returning in Week 15. When active, London is a must-start for fantasy purposes, even with quarterback Kirk Cousins running the offense for the rest of the year. If London misses a third straight game, tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. should be the Falcons' leading receiver again.
From RotoBaller
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (collarbone) was limited during practice Monday, Dec. 8. The Buccaneers only held a walkthrough Monday, so this is an estimation.
Fantasy Spin: Head coach Todd Bowles said Evans has a chance to play in Week 15, so fantasy players will need to see if he will be activated from the Reserve/Injured list before the game. He may not see his normal workload right away since he has missed extended time but can be at least a flex option when he returns.
From TheHuddle
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (fibula) was limited during practice Monday, Dec. 8. The Buccaneers only held a walkthrough Monday, so this is an estimation.
Fantasy Spin: Godwin has been a solid option in the passing game since returning from injury and has posted 133 yards in the last two games. He should see a handful of targets again this week and can be a No. 3 receiver or flex option.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb (rib) could be in danger of missing the team's Week 15 contest against the Arizona Cardinals after he suffered a rib injury in Sunday night's win over the Kansas City Chiefs. "Woody Marks has done a nice job. He's handled himself very well, taking care of his body. It's hard being an RB in this league. We'll see where Chubb (rib) ends up this week and if he can get back out there for us," head coach DeMeco Ryans said on Monday. Chubb injured his rib in the second quarter and never returned. The rookie Marks has already taken over Houston's backfield, and he had a career-high 26 rushing attempts in the 20-10 win in KC, going for 68 yards while adding two catches for eight yards and a touchdown. Marks should see another heavy RB1-type workload against Arizona on Sunday, regardless of whether Chubb is active. Chubb hasn't had double-digit carries in a game since Nov. 2.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Falcons WR Drake London (knee) did not participate in practice Monday, Dec. 8. WR KhaDarel Hodge (shoulder), TE Kyle Pitts (knee), LB Jalon walker (quadriceps), CB A.J. Terrell (neck), DT Brandon Dorlus (groin), OG Chris Lindstrom (foot) and DT David Onyemata (foot) were limited during practice. LB Kaden Elliss (elbow) fully participated in practice. The Falcons did not hold a practice Monday, so the report is an estimation.
From TheHuddle
Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson will undergo core-muscle surgery this week that is expected to keep him out for around six weeks, sources tell Adam Schefter of ESPN. Hendrickson initially was injured in the Week 6 game against the Green Bay Packers and then aggravated his injury two weeks later against the New York Jets. The 31-year-old All-Pro has been out ever since and will now miss the remainder of the 2025 regular season. His injury was not improving despite rest and rehab. Hendrickson was a massive disappointment for fantasy managers who selected him in IDP leagues. The four-time Pro Bowler will finish with only four sacks, 16 tackles (11 solo), and a forced fumble in seven games this year after back-to-back 17.5-sack seasons for the Bengals in 2023 and 2024. Cincy will be hoping Hendrickson can return to his pre-injury form in 2026.
From RotoBaller
Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen said on Monday that quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. (eye) will not be activated from Injured Reserve this week, according to Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan. Richardson's status is suddenly worth watching now that starter Daniel Jones is out for the rest of the season after tearing his Achilles in Sunday's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Rookie Riley Leonard (knee) replaced Jones in Week 14, but now he's up in the air to play in Week 15 on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks due to a knee injury. Indy is hoping that Leonard can play, but if he can't, Brett Rypien would be forced into making his first NFL start since 2023 with the Los Angeles Rams. Richardson underwent orbital surgery after a resistance band snapped and hit him in the face before a game back in mid-October. He's in danger of missing the rest of the year.
