Top-ranked Philadelphia Phillies shortstop prospect Aidan Miller will miss another six to eight weeks recovering from an upcoming procedure to repair a spinal injury.

Miller, who turns 22 next week, was diagnosed with discogenic pain and facet inflammation in the lumbar spine, the team announced on Wednesday.

"Due to recurrence of low back pain when returning to baseball activities, he was seen by spine specialists over the last couple of weeks," the Phillies said in a news release. "The specialists were in agreement that the recommended course of treatment is a minimally invasive procedure called a radiofrequency ablation of the facet joints."

Miller is scheduled to undergo the procedure on Friday. After a week of rest, he could restart rehabilitation with the goal of returning to game activity in six to eight weeks.

A first-round draft pick by Philadelphia in 2023, Miller is ranked No. 1 among the team's prospects and No. 15 in the majors by MLB Pipeline.

Miller has not played this season.

In 2025, he batted .264 with an .825 OPS, 14 homers, 42 RBIs and 59 stolen bases in 116 games between Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
