Saturday's game between the Tampa Bay Rays and Yankees was postponed due to the forecast of heavy rain in the New York area.

The game will be made up as part of a split-admission doubleheader Sept. 22 when the Yankees start their final homestand of the regular season.

Right-hander Drew Rasmussen was slated to pitch for Tampa Bay and likely will start Sunday, though heavy rain is projected in the New York area. Ryan Weathers was expected to pitch Saturday, and the Yankees likely will move the left-hander back to Sunday.

A winner of five in a row, Tampa Bay leads the season series 4-0 -- and each victory has been decided by two runs or fewer. The Rays opened the series by scoring four times in the eighth inning off reliever Tim Hill for a 4-2 victory.

Jonathan Aranda belted a tying double and Richie Palacios hit a two-run single that caromed off Hill's glove in the eighth inning. That helped Tampa Bay widen its lead over the Yankees to a 5 1/2 games in the American League East.

Tampa Bay is 22-4 in its past 26 games.

The Yankees have just four wins their past 14 games and have been held to three runs or fewer nine times in that span. During the past three games, New York scored three runs total while going 3-for-22 (.136) with runners in scoring position.
