Wed Dec 31 3:02am ET
Field Level Media

Rookie VJ Edgecombe knocked down a 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds remaining in overtime, lifting the Philadelphia 76ers to a 139-136 victory over the host Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.

Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid led the 76ers with 34 points apiece and Edgecombe finished with 25, including 13 in the fourth quarter. Embiid added 10 rebounds and eight assists while Maxey dished out 12 assists as the 76ers snapped a three-game losing streak.

Ja Morant led the Grizzlies with 40 points -- 18 in the fourth quarter and six in OT -- and rookie Cedric Coward added career highs of 28 points and 16 rebounds. Morant made 16 of 22 shots while Coward hit 10 of 16. Coward's 3-point try to tie the game at the overtime buzzer fell short.

The Grizzlies scored the final seven points of the fourth quarter -- a four-point play from Jaren Jackson Jr. and two baskets by Morant -- to send the game to overtime.

Clippers 131, Kings 90

Kawhi Leonard scored 26 of his game-high 33 points in a runaway first half and Los Angeles went on to a fifth straight victory, routing Sacramento in Inglewood, Calif.

James Harden chipped in with 21 points for the Clippers, who led 73-40 at halftime en route to their biggest margin of victory this season. Playing just 33 minutes, Leonard also found time for five rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Clippers.

In losing for the eighth time in the past 10 games, the Kings never got closer than 28 in the second half. Rookie Nique Clifford had a season-high 18 points for the Kings, whose 90 points were a season low.

Celtics 129, Jazz 119

Derrick White produced 27 points, seven blocks, seven rebounds and six assists to lead Boston to a victory over Utah in Salt Lake City.

White became the first NBA player 6-foot-5 or shorter to finish with at least 25 points, six rebounds, six assists and six blocks in a game. Jaylen Brown tallied 23 points, 10 assists and six rebounds for the Celtics. Brown's streak of nine consecutive 30-point games, which tied the franchise record set by Larry Brown, ended. Boston's Anfernee Simons chipped in 20 points while Payton Pritchard added 18 points and six assists.

Keyonte George had 37 points and seven assists to lead the Jazz, whose two-game winning streak was snapped. Jusuf Nurkic tallied 26 points, on 10-of-11 shooting, plus eight rebounds and eight assists. Lauri Markkanen amassed 22 points and nine rebounds.

Pistons 128, Lakers 106

Cade Cunningham scored 27 points and dished out 11 assists as visiting Detroit earned a victory over Los Angeles to spoil LeBron James' 41st birthday.

Marcus Sasser put up 19 points, Isaiah Stewart scored 15 points and Jalen Duren added 14 points and eight rebounds as the Pistons avoided what would have been a season-worst three-game losing streak. Detroit shot a season-best 63.2% from the floor while ending their Western Conference road trip with a 3-2 record.

Luka Doncic registered 30 points and 11 assists for the Lakers, though he committed eight turnovers. James added 17 points while becoming just the 12th player in NBA history to take the floor at age 41 or older. James, the NBA's all-time leading scorer, played in his 1,577th career game, second to Robert Parish's 1,611.

Player Notes
Kon Knueppel Wed Dec 31 1:00pm

Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel (ankle) will make his return to the Hornets' starting lineup on Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors. Knueppel suffered a right ankle injury that forced him to miss Monday's loss to the Bucks. The rookie is averaging 19.3 PPG while shooting 42.8% from deep, which they will certainly need against a tough Warriors team. With the Hornets already missing Miles Bridges, fantasy managers and DFS players should expect additional volume to be headed Knueppel's way.

Grayson Allen Wed Dec 31 8:20am

Phoenix Suns guard/forward Grayson Allen (knee) is tagged as doubtful on the injury report for Wednesday's encounter with the Cleveland Cavaliers. While he is unlikely to play, this is a positive development, as Allen has been ruled out immediately for the last few games due to a right knee injury. He has missed six contests, giving Royce O'Neale a chance to reclaim a starting role. Collin Gillespie and Jordan Goodwin have also held a larger role in the rotation over the last couple of weeks.

Mitchell Robinson Wed Dec 31 8:20am

New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson (ankle) won't suit up for Wednesday's matchup against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. He is managing a left ankle injury and is missing a second consecutive game. Guerschon Yabusele and Ariel Hukporti (lip) are set to have larger roles behind starting center Karl-Anthony Towns, though Hukporti is listed as questionable for Wednesday night. Wembanyama's presence makes this a tricky matchup for New York's centers.

Ryan Kalkbrenner Wed Dec 31 8:10am

Charlotte Hornets centers Ryan Kalkbrenner (elbow) and Mason Plumlee (groin) will remain out on Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors. Kalkbrenner will miss his fifth straight game, and Plumlee his fourth. With the two out, Moussa Diabate has taken over the starting center role, averaging 13.0 rebounds and 12.0 points over the last three games. PJ Hall is working as the backup center. On Wednesday, Diabate has a good matchup against a team that gives up the eighth-most fantasy points to centers.

Kon Knueppel Wed Dec 31 8:00am

Charlotte Hornets guard/forward Kon Knueppel (ankle) is listed as probable for a New Year's Eve clash against the Golden State Warriors. The 20-year-old rookie sprained his right ankle last week and didn't play on Monday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. Sion James rolled with the starters on Monday and will be relegated back to the bench with Knueppel's return. Josh Green is also likely to lose minutes, though with Miles Bridges (ankle) potentially missing the game, there could still be additional playing time available for the reserves.

Miles Bridges Wed Dec 31 7:54am

Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges (ankle) is considered questionable for Wednesday's matchup against the Golden State Warriors. The 27-year-old sprained his right ankle in Monday's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. In the contest, Tidjane Salaun started the second half in Bridges' place, notching three points, one assist, one steal, and a game-high 11 rebounds. If Bridges misses his first game of the season, Liam McNeeley may also see more action. Meanwhile, LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller, who scored a combined 57 points on Monday night, will take on more offensive duties, along with Kon Knueppel (ankle) and Collin Sexton.

Devin Vassell Wed Dec 31 7:44am

San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Devin Vassell (adductor) won't play on New Year's Eve against the New York Knicks. He has sustained a left adductor strain and could miss more than one game. Keldon Johnson or Julian Champagnie will replace Vassell in the starting unit, with Dylan Harper also in a position to see more minutes. On Wednesday, another chunk of playing time would open up in the rotation if Stephon Castle (thumb) misses the game. He is currently tagged as questionable on the injury report.

Isaiah Hartenstein Wed Dec 31 7:44am

Oklahoma City Thunder center Isaiah Hartenstein (calf) will miss a second straight game on Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers. With Jaylin Williams (heel) also out, Branden Carlson gets a boost in playing time, but he still logged only 11 minutes in Monday's win over the Atlanta Hawks. Cason Wallace joined the starting unit, while Chet Holmgren shifted to center. Wallace is likely to remain in the starting lineup after filling the box score on Monday night. He finished with a season-high 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block.

Ja Morant Wed Dec 31 3:00am

Grizzlies' G Ja Morant scored 40 points on 16-of-22 shooting in a 136-139 loss to the 76ers on Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Josh Giddey Tue Dec 30 10:20pm

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey (hamstring) will "miss at least a few weeks" as a result of the hamstring strain that he sustained during Monday's loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 2021 No. 6 overall pick has played well throughout the 2025 campaign, averaging career-highs in points (19.5), rebounds (9.1), assists (9.2), and three-point percentage (39.0%). With Coby White (calf) also battling an injury of his own, Chicago may roll with Tre Jones and Ayo Dosunmu in the starting lineup, making both players must-start options in all fantasy formats.

Jalen Suggs Tue Dec 30 10:00pm

Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs (hip) is questionable for Wednesday's contest in Indiana. He's already missed seven games because of the left hip contusion, so fantasy managers aren't overly convinced he'll be back for this one. If he doesn't return, Tyus Jones will presumably remain in the starting lineup. Jones hasn't played the best in his eight starts, averaging 6.4 points, 3.6 assists, 2.1 boards, and 1.0 steals. With that said, he could be more productive versus an Indiana team that has struggled defensively throughout the 2025 campaign. Jones' potential might increase even more if Desmond Bane (back) can't suit up.

Desmond Bane Tue Dec 30 10:00pm

Orlando Magic forward Desmond Bane (back) is questionable for Wednesday's game against Indiana. He hasn't missed a game this season, although that trend may come to an end after he experienced back spasms in Monday's loss to Toronto. With Jalen Suggs (hip) also uncertain to suit up, the team could be leaning even more on Paolo Banchero and Anthony Black, with Tristan da Silva potentially gaining streaming value if Bane can't get on the floor.

Trae Young Tue Dec 30 9:50pm

Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young (quadriceps) is questionable for Wednesday's meeting with Minnesota. He's been battling a quadriceps contusion, keeping him off the floor for Monday's loss to OKC. Nickeil Alexander-Walker entered the starting lineup, finishing with a team-high 30 points, adding five assists, four rebounds, and two steals. He also shot 6-for-14 from behind the arc. If Young misses another contest, Alexander-Walker is a must-start, even with Jalen Johnson (illness) and Kristaps Porzingis (illness) back on the floor.

Kristaps Porzingis Tue Dec 30 9:40pm

Atlanta Hawks center Kristaps Porzingis (illness) isn't listed on the injury report ahead of Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. He's missed the last 10 contests because of an illness, so he'll probably be limited from a workload standpoint in his first appearance after the lengthy layoff. However, Porzingis' presence will presumably send Onyeka Okongwu back to the bench. Although Okongwu will still hold a role in the rotation, his fantasy stock won't be nearly as favorable as a reserve, especially with a challenging matchup versus a potent Timberwolves defense.

Jalen Johnson Tue Dec 30 9:30pm

Atlanta Hawks forward Jalen Johnson (illness) isn't listed on the injury report heading into Wednesday's game versus Minnesota. He wasn't feeling well, forcing him to miss Monday's loss to OKC, his first absence in nearly a month. Vit Krejci got the start in that one, finishing with 18 points, two assists, and one rebound while shooting 4-for-10 from behind the arc. While Krejci might still see additional work if Trae Young (quadriceps) can't suit up, his fantasy ceiling is considerably lower coming off the bench, even more so with Kristaps Porzingis (illness) also in line to return. As far as Johnson is concerned, he should be more productive if Young isn't available, although he may have trouble surpassing his usual statistical expectations against a sound Timberwolves defense.

Josh Giddey Tue Dec 30 8:50pm

Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey (hamstring) won't play Wednesday versus the New Orleans Pelicans. Giddey is dealing with a left hamstring injury that he sustained during Monday's matchup with Minnesota. Coby White (calf) will also miss tomorrow night's tilt, leaving the team without its starting backcourt. Without Giddey and White, Tre Jones will likely slide in as the primary ball-handler, while Kevin Huerter and Ayo Dosunmu will also take on extra backcourt minutes.

Coby White Tue Dec 30 8:30pm

Chicago Bulls guard Coby White (calf) won't suit up against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday. He's dealing with tightness in his right calf. White's injury occurred in the first quarter during Monday's loss to the Timberwolves. In 16 games this season, the 25-year-old is averaging 19.2 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds across 28.1 minutes per contest. Josh Giddey (hamstring) will also sit out, leaving Kevin Huerter, Tre Jones, and Ayo Dosunmu with a heavy workload for Wednesday's clash.

Jock Landale Tue Dec 30 8:00pm

Memphis Grizzlies center Jock Landale (calf) is available for Tuesday's meeting with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was out of action for two straight games due to a right calf strain. Across 30 games this season, the 30-year-old big man is averaging 11.0 points and 5.9 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per contest. With Landale back tonight, Christian Koloko will likely slide back out of the rotation.

Joel Embiid Tue Dec 30 7:50pm

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (ankle) is available for Tuesday's matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. Embiid missed Sunday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a sprained right ankle. He is averaging 24.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.2 blocks across 30.0 minutes per game in six December games. With the star big man back in the mix this evening, Andre Drummond will return to his backup center role.

Keyonte George Tue Dec 30 7:40pm

Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George (illness) is set to suit up for Tuesday's matchup with the Boston Celtics. The 22-year-old has been feeling under the weather but has been cleared to play. George is averaging a career-high 24.2 points and 6.8 assists across 31 games this season. He provides plenty of fantasy value for this evening's contest as he has finished with at least 20 points in his last eight appearances.
