The walks are still something fantasy managers have to live with. Romano has issued seven of them during his Rockies stint, contributing to a 1.54 WHIP, but Colorado keeps handing him the ninth. RotoBaller currently lists the bullpen as solid with Romano on top, and he sits 25th in its Week 21 closer rankings. Even so, Yahoo has him rostered in just 12% of leagues. Romano fits best as an add in 15-team formats, especially for managers who need another steady path to saves.

Athletics relief pitcher Hogan Harris worked a scoreless ninth Friday, August 14, to finish an 8-3 win over the Texas Rangers. It wasn't a save situation, but the usage keeps him at the front of a bullpen that has bounced around much of the season. Harris has 11 saves, including back-to-back conversions in Boston on August 8 and 9, and RotoBaller currently lists him as the Athletics' closer. There are rough edges. Harris has walked 34 batters in 53 innings and carries a 1.55 WHIP, but he's also struck out 70 with a 3.57 ERA. That's enough swing-and-miss to keep him useful while he gets the bulk of the ninth-inning work. Harris is rostered in only 13% of Yahoo leagues, even though RotoBaller ranks him 23rd among closers for Week 21. He's best suited for 15-team leagues, but anyone digging for saves should know the job is leaning his way.

Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Steven Cruz picked up his fourth save Friday, August 14, working a scoreless ninth in a 7-6 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Cruz allowed one hit and struck out one, freezing Mike Trout for the final out. It was another ninth-inning chance for the right-hander, who has now recorded all four of his saves over his last 15 appearances. Cruz has been much better than his 4.17 season ERA suggests lately, posting a 2.40 ERA and 0.87 WHIP across those 15 outings. Alex Lange has moved into lower-leverage work, while Cruz has been getting the ninth more often. The job isn't completely secure yet, but Cruz is clearly the arm to chase from this bullpen right now. Seattle Mariners outfielder Taylor Ward (quad) remains out of the starting lineup Saturday against the Houston Astros. Ward has been dealing with quad tightness and was already held out Thursday before missing Friday's series opener in Houston as well. The Mariners have not placed him on the injured list, but the continued absence makes his status something fantasy managers will need to watch heading into Sunday's series finale. Seattle acquired Ward from the Baltimore Orioles at the trade deadline and had been using him regularly since his arrival. For now, he should remain on fantasy benches until the Mariners either get him back into the lineup or provide a clearer update on the quad issue.

New York Mets relief pitcher Kodai Senga earned his second save in five days Friday, tossing a scoreless ninth in a 4-1 win over Washington. He allowed one hit and struck out one, and the usage was notable after Daniel Duarte handled the eighth. Senga also converted a save Monday in Atlanta and has now put together four straight scoreless relief appearances. Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte (left knee) is out of the starting lineup Saturday against the Atlanta Braves after leaving Friday's series opener early. Marte appeared to twist awkwardly while ranging to his right for a ground ball in the first inning and later exited with left knee soreness. The Diamondbacks are considering him day-to-day for now, so there is no indication yet that a stint on the injured list will be necessary. Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Mason Montgomery picked up his fourth save of the season Friday, getting the final out of an 8-4 win over the Boston Red Sox. Kirby Yates opened the ninth with no save opportunity but gave up three straight two-out singles, bringing Montgomery in with two runners aboard and the tying run on deck. The left-hander struck out Adley Rutschman to finish it. Three of Montgomery's four saves have now come over his last seven appearances. The Colorado Rockies announced that catcher Hunter Goodman (shoulder) has been scratched from Saturday's starting lineup against the division-rival San Francisco Giants with inflammation in his left shoulder. Brett Sullivan will now catch right-hander Michael Lorenzen and will bat eighth against Giants right-hander Logan Webb. It's unclear right now what the severity of Goodman's shoulder injury is, so we'll consider him day-to-day. Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez (hand) missed Friday's game against the San Diego Padres because the team is managing his workload as he continues to progress from his hamate bone injury. While manager Stephen Vogt has said that the 33-year-old has been progressing well, the team must do what is best for everyone, which included having him miss Friday's game. This continues to align with what was mentioned when Ramirez was first activated from the Injured List on July 22, as the team said it would be mindful of how often he plays. This calls into question the timing of his return, as he did not go through a rehab assignment and instead returned directly to the Guardians' lineup. Since then, he has posted a .197 batting average with zero extra-base hits. He has, however, stolen five bases and walked 12 times, showing his incredible eye at the plate and on the basepaths. This situation remains one to monitor down the stretch, though fantasy baseball managers should continue to roster him every day regardless of how well he plays, simply because his upside is too good.

San Francisco Giants shortstop Willy Adames (back) remained out of the starting lineup on Saturday as he continues to manage a lower-back strain. The team has discussed potentially placing him on the Injured List as a result of this lingering issue, but as of Saturday, it isn't believed to be serious enough to warrant an extended absence. Progressing to playing catch and throwing signifies a big step forward, but with the fractured rib still needing time to heal, this one-month timeline may be too optimistic. For fantasy purposes, his upside remains too elite to drop, especially if he has been rostered and stashed on team rosters this entire time. That being said, the Yankees view his health and return as more important for the playoffs than the regular season, so they will continue to tread lightly while he continues to heal.

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (calf) made a vow that he will return to the Mets this season at some point. He doesn't have a clear timeline for his return after being diagnosed with a strained left calf at the end of July. Since then, he has made his way back onto the field and, as recently as Friday, was seen doing light on-field workouts and stretches, as well as some wind sprints. Still, while he has a ways to go before returning, he admits that he simply wants to get back on the field and help contribute to the on-field success the Mets have been enjoying as of late. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but the 27-year-old All-Star is looking to add to his totals of 21 home runs and seven stolen bases before the season comes to an end. Given his elite fantasy upside and the promising nature of this developing news, he is worth stashing in the hopes that he can return and help fantasy baseball managers down the stretch.

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (concussion) was placed on the seven-day concussion injured list on Saturday, a day after colliding with George Lombard Jr. at third base. The 27-year-old had never been placed on the Injured List during his eight seasons in the majors and will now be out of the Blue Jays' lineup for at least seven days while both he and the team manage the situation. Both Kazuma Okamoto and Charles McAdoo will likely get some reps at first base while the team deals with life without Guerrero, who has struggled all season to get going. The Toronto Blue Jays announced on Saturday that they are recalling left-handed pitching prospect Ricky Tiedemann from Triple-A Buffalo and optioning right-hander Chase Lee to Buffalo in a corresponding move. Tiedemann, once the organization's top pitching prospect, will be making his major-league debut whenever he gets into a game. The 23-year-old former third-rounder in 2021 from Golden West College didn't pitch at all in 2025 after having Tommy John surgery in the summer of 2024, and he appeared in only seven games (two starts) in the rookie-level Florida Complex League and at Single-A Dunedin and Buffalo this year, allowing five earned runs with two walks and 11 strikeouts in just seven innings pitched. Now the team's No. 11 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, Tiedemann has had countless setbacks with his elbow and has also dealt with a neck injury. Expect Toronto to be very careful with his usage the rest of the year, and they could decide to turn him into a full-time reliever to try to keep him healthy going forward. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues should ignore Tiedemann for now.

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (head) is absent from Saturday's starting nine against the division-rival New York Yankees, per MLB.com. Guerrero apparently took a knee to the head from Yankees shortstop George Lombard Jr. when he was sliding into third base in the sixth inning of Friday night's game and was pulled early. Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony (finger) is making significant progress with his hitting program in Fort Myers, Fla., and is closing in on a minor-league rehab assignment, according to Ian Browne of MLB.com. Interim manager Chad Tracy said Anthony won't go on a rehab assignment this weekend, but it could happen next week. The former top outfield prospect last played on May 4, when he suffered a partially torn tendon in the joint that connects to his right ring finger. He improved to the point where he could reinitiate a hitting program a couple of weeks ago, and he's been doing all other baseball drills such as running and fielding. Anthony has hit off the Trajekt machine recently, and "everything's going well so far," Tracy said. If the 22-year-old starts a rehab assignment early next week, he could be back with the BoSox by next weekend. Having Anthony's power/speed threat would be huge for Boston as they attempt to get into the playoffs down the stretch. Although he was hitting just .229 (25-for-109) with one homer before his injury, Anthony is one of the better young power/speed outfield threats in baseball and is absolutely worth stashing now if he's floating around on your league's waiver wire.

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith (neck) took on-field batting practice on Friday before the team's game against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers, according to Sonja Chen of MLB.com. Smith has been on the injured list for over two months, but he's slowly making progress after being cleared to resume baseball activities at the end of July. The 31-year-old veteran backstop will eventually need to go on a minor-league rehab assignment, but if he can avoid any setbacks once he resumes playing in games, it seems plausible that he could be back in the Dodgers' starting lineup by the end of August. It's been a tough 2026 season for the three-time All-Star and former first-rounder, as Smith has played in just 52 games (201 plate appearances) and has hit .249 (43-for-173) with six home runs, 23 RBI, and 23 runs scored. Once back to full health, though, he'll be L.A.'s primary catcher in one of the best lineups in the league. Smith is rostered in only 68% of Yahoo leagues now after his extended stay on the sidelines due to a frustrating neck injury that initially wasn't even expected to land him on the IL.

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow (back) looks about ready to return to the Dodgers' starting rotation after a dominant showing in his latest minor-league rehab start on Friday night with Triple-A Oklahoma City. In his third rehab start, Glasnow threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings with no hits allowed, two walks, and eight strikeouts against Triple-A Albuquerque. The 32-year-old veteran threw 39 of his 67 pitches for strikes on the night after giving up just one run in 4 2/3 innings in his first two rehab outings. The Dodgers are expected to have Glasnow make one more rehab appearance in the minors next week before reinstating him from the 60-day injured list. The former All-Star has high-end stuff when he's healthy on one of the best teams in baseball, so he should be scooped up immediately if he's available on the waiver wire in your league. Glasnow went 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings across seven starts before he landed on the IL back in early May. He's only available in 10% of Yahoo leagues.

The 24-year-old former sixth overall pick from Grand Canyon University in 2023 has had an injury-plagued and frustrating second full season in the majors in 2026, as he came into Friday's tilt with a .269/.299/.392 slash line with seven homers, 37 RBI, 36 runs scored, and four steals in 78 games played. Wilson is tough to strike out, but for fantasy purposes, he doesn't do enough in the power and speed categories to make much of a difference. He's barely rostered in just over half of Yahoo leagues.
