16 Days Till Draft! Seeing some moves happening. I was asked a question that i need to clarify; once we have our cut downs, Aug 15th 7:30 p.m., trades can still happen and a team could theoretically go into draft with more then 10 players, i.e. someone trades a pick for a player; Just wasn't sure everyone knew that......
Please try to pay your fees before draft day; zelle me to my cell.
I will set up a zoom for our draft and post the link here on the site, hope everyone can at least pop in so we can try to get everyone acquainted if they aren't already.

If we did expand keepers I’d like to decrease bench spots. That way people have some hard decisions during the season and there are actually good players on waivers.
Not a fan of more than ten. But would be open to it, especially if we open the number up to position limits. If we have 12 keepers. We need to address the limit on positions as well.

In support of expanding to 12 keepers, I want to add:
- I don't believe it's too late to make the change. Only one team has cut down to 10 players and 2 of his cuts could easily be reinstated to his roster (if he elects to do so).
- I agree the two added keepers cuts down on the free agent pool however, we are only a 12 team league so the worst case scenario is an impact of 24 FA's taken out of the pool (of which most are support/backup/developing players).
- Although we are a hybrid league, we are also a Superflex league with a high scoring ceiling for QB's. Therefore all starting QB's and some backup/potential starting QB's are rostered and occupy on average 3 - 4 keeper slots per team. I believe the weighting distribution for the QB position is too high under the current system and adding 2 keeper slots will give us more flexibility to hold on to key players in all of the other starting positions and/or allow for retaining players we believe are 1 - 2 seasons away from becoming a #1 position ranked player.

Interesting this is coming back up; in the pic below, you can see that originally, we discussed having 12 keepers, but decided in the kick off call to move to 10. Remember, this is a Hybrid Keeper/Dynasty league, not a true dynasty league. Keeping 12 player does dilute the free agency pool for draft.
I believe it is too late to make that kind of change now with all of the trades and draft pick maneuvering; i am open to hearing from everyone on your thoughts.

Training camp in full swing, man, i can't wait for those first games! I haven't heard of any issues going into this year with our rules, so i am assuming we are good for this next year. Our draft is set for Aug 22nd 7:30 p.m. on RTS - i will also have a zoom open during the draft and encourage you all to call in so that we can start getting names and faces out there for those folks that have never met before.
If you all would like to have a pre-draft zoom, please post and i can set something up in the next week or so.

Sorry, I've been a bit remiss on staying in touch and updating everyone about our upcoming annual obsession, the 2024 YODFL Season... It's been a helluva year.

Does anyone have any questions? Any recommendations for improving the league? Is anyone thinking they may not be able to participate this year? If so, let me know ASAP!

Thanks for reminding me; we had discussed last year that most folks thought the cut date was too early and would like to see us have a later cut down date. With that in mind, I'm proposing we do the cut down one week prior to the draft on Aug 22nd; so cut down date would be Aug 15th by 7:30 p.m.
What are everyone's thoughts?

Sorry, lots going on this year....slipping on my commissioner duties.....I'm lookin to move our draft date to Thurs Aug 22nd at 7:00pm CST. Let me know if any of you have conflicts and we can try to move around (unfortunately, i had a business trip come up for Aug 28th so need to realign).
