OMITB WEEK 6 RECAP

Happy Tuesday, OMITB! We now have 6 weeks down with 8 to go in the regular season. Let's see what happened in Week 6:

  • #1 The Duke Boys (8-2, G1) got one of the lamest wins of the season, scoring just 90 to beat #10 Carolina Diesel (2-8, R4) and stay at the top. Hey, if you have to take the bad beats, you get the benefit of bad wins. The Diesel are looking ahead, as their star WR gets a new lease on life in a new town.
  • #6 One Trick Pony (6-4, G3) ambushed #2 Pacheco's Playmakers (7-3, B1) to stay on the right side of the playoff bubble The Playmakers got lucky with the league's sweep of the Red leaders, and stays in the playoff bye for now.
  • #7 New Kid (6-4, B2) posted the weekly high score to corral the #3 Ringwraiths (6-4, R1) and move to within a game in the Blue Division, while dropping the league-scoring leading 'Wraiths into a 3-way point-settled tie.
  • #5 Show Me Your TD's (6-4, G2) held on through Monday night to get the win over #4 Keep Their Heads Ringin' (6-4, R2) to stay within 2 games of the division lead and Keep Their Heads out of first in Red.
  • #7 Lloyd Christmas (6-4, R3) climb into the three-way battle that is the Red Division, and beat out a solid performance from #9 DaNoNames (3-7, B3), who got a QB flub and missed an opportunity to to get closer to the pack.
  • In the battle of teams who started 0-6, #12 Dawg Puck (2-8, B4) survived a shellacking of their defense, getting a 96.8% efficiency to beat #11 Injured Reserve (2-8, G4) and keep hope alive.

The landscape is changing slightly, with 8 teams at 6-4 or better, but even the teams at the bottom are only 4 out with 12 left. We do have 3 straight doubleheaders now, with one being a division week, so take a moment to think things out, take a deep breath, and

OMITB WEEK 5 RECAP

Well, our first single-game week is done, so the OMITB season is now in full swing. No one is near being eliminated yet - the bottom of the league is only 4 games off the playoff pace with 13 games left - so let's see what happened in Week 5:

  • #1 The Duke Boys (7-2, G1) got just enough on Monday Night to outlast #7 Lloyd Christmas (5-4, R3), and deal the Lloyd a heartbreaking loss, while TDB moves up to the top spot.
  • #2 Pacheco's Playmakers (7-2, B1) got ambushed by Ja'Marr Chase and #11 Injured Reserve (2-7, G4), and drop into the overall #2 spot, but they'll maintain a two-game lead on the next generation in Blue.
  • #3 Ringwraiths (6-3, R1) picked the wrong QB, but got just enough from the rest of the team to take down #9 DaNoNames (3-6, B3) and move - by less than a point - ahead of Keep Their Heads Ringin' in Red.
  • #4 Keep Their Heads Ringin' (6-3, R2) survives an off week, getting less than a hundred and falling to second place in Red, but got just enough to edge #6 One Trick Pony (5-4, G3) and match the 'Wraiths' record, making Red the closest race in the league.
  • #8 New Kid (5-4, B2) might have had the best weekend, coming up big to beat #5 Show Me Your TD's (5-4, G2), get above .500 and into the playoff discussion, while SMYTD's continued to struggle outside of Gold.
  • #10 Carolina Diesel (2-7, R4) beat #12 Dawg Puck (1-8, B4) by a TD to keep Puck in the bottom spot and stay within 4 games of a wild card.

Week 6 and another single-game week is here, before we go on a 3-week stretch of doubleheaders. So, buckle down as we move towards midseason, and above all:

OMITB WEEK 4 RECAP

Well, our first week of fully inter-divisional play is in the books, and the OMITB season is now about one-third complete. Everyone is finally in the win column, and it's pretty wide open, so let's review:

  • #1 Pacheco's Playmakers (7-1, B1): The #1 PP's got the weekly high score to earn a sweep, taking down Keep Their Heads Ringin' and Show Me Your TD's to stake a 2-game lead in the claim for a playoff bye.
  • #2 The Duke Boys (6-2, G1) got a big defensive performance to power a pair of wins, over the Ringwraiths and DaNoNames.
  • #3 Keep Their Heads Ringin' (5-3, R1) got the second-highest score of the week behind a great QB showing, to stay on top of Red, splitting a win over a surprising Dawg Puck and the loss to PP's.
  • #4 Show Me Your TD's (5-3, G2) wasn't among the top scores this week, and it cost them, losing to both Pacheco's Playmakers and the Ringwraiths, and falling out of first place.
  • The #5 Ringwraiths (5-3, R2) suffered another WR injury, taking a zero in the lineup, and lost a tough one to The Duke Boys while holding off SMYTD's.
  • #6 One Trick Pony (5-3, G3) had a decent week, but split the week between a win over the New Kid and a loss to Dawg Puck (yes, you saw that right).
  • #7 Lloyd Christmas (5-3, R3) survived a poor offensive week, losing to New Kid, but getting a win over Injured Reserve by just 0.06 points to stay above .500.
  • #8 New Kid's (4-4, B2) QB showed up in Week 4. It was enough to beat Lloyd Christmas, but they lost to One Trick Pony, staying in 2nd place in Blue, but now 3 games out.
  • #9 DaNoNames (3-5, B3) had a solid week with another great handcuff RB performance, but split, losing to The Duke Boys and beating Carolina Diesel to stay a game under .500.
  • #10 Carolina Diesel (1-7, R4) has now dropped 6 in a row after a lackluster performance from the starters resulted in losses to Injured Reserve and DaNoNames.
  • #11 Injured Reserve (1-7, G4) had a quiet week, just cracking 90 points, but finally got into the win column, beating Carolina Diesel while losing that oh-so-close game to Lloyd Christmas.
  • #12 Dawg Puck (1-7, B4) came alive like Frankenstein's monster, with an electrified performance that outscored the previous two weeks combined. They got on the board with a win over One Trick Pony, and just barely lost to Keep Their Heads Ringin'.

We'll slow things down a little for a couple of weeks, as we enter bye week territory, so we'll only see one game a week. No one has been eliminated yet, and the last team in the standings is only 4 games out of a playoff spot, so just remember:

OMITB WEEK 3 RECAP

Greetings, OMITB! The Week 3 doubleheader is now in the books. Let's see what happened:

  • Show Me Your TD's (5-1, G1) gets the weekly high score against the winless Injured Reserve and Dawg Puck, and sweeps them, moving up to the top spot, ahead of a pair of huge matchups in Week 4.
  • #2 Pacheco's Playmakers (5-1, B1) dropped from the ranks of the undefeated, but behind a big week from Kyren Williams, the Playmakers split the week, losing to Lloyd Christmas and beating a Dawg Puck team that is looking just brutal at the moment. They'll play for first place in Week 4.
  • #3 Keep Their Heads Ringin' (4-2, R1) split the week, beating DaNoNames and losing to the Ringwraiths. They hold on to first place in the Red Division, but have a top-3 showdown this week.
  • The #4 Ringwraiths (4-2, R2) had their best week of the season to date and won the big divisional showdown with Keep Their Heads Ringin', while beating Injured Reserve for the sweep, to get above .500 just in time for a tough weekly draw.
  • #5 The Duke Boys (4-2, G2), with a roster sporting more "O's" and "U's" than Ouagadougou, got a sub to star in Week 3 to split the week, beating the New Kid and losing to One Trick Pony.
  • #6 Lloyd Christmas (4-2, R3) rode a fantastic MNF QB performance to a sweep of Carolina Diesel and Pacheco's Playmakers, to keep pace in the top-heavy Red Division and have an opportunity to move up in Week 4.
  • #7 One Trick Pony (4-2, G3) got a big week from Barkley to sweep The Duke Boys and Carolina Diesel, and keep pace in Gold.
  • #8 New Kid (3-3, B2) learns the lesson that 97 points is just "meh," but that sometimes "meh" is enough, losing to The Duke Boys, but beating DaNoNames to stay .500.
  • #9 DaNoNames (2-4, B3) benched the drafted QB for the Waiver Wire Wonder and it cost them a split, so they lose two, to Keep Their Heads Ringin' and New Kid, to drop under .500.
  • #10 Carolina Diesel (1-5, R4) got more solid RB play, but less than 20 points total from the WR, TE, K, and DST positions, and got swept for the second straight week, while losing another TE to injury.
  • #11 Injured Reserve (0-6, G4) still hasn't hit the century mark, and got swept by #1 Show Me Your TD's and the #4 Ringwraiths, leaving them looking for answers...and wins.
  • Also without a win (or a reliable QB), #12 Dawg Puck (0-6, B4) is trying to live down to the new name, posting just 63 to lose to Pacheco's Playmakers and Show Me Your TD's.

With 16 games left in the OMITB season, there is still time to make something good happen (or, failing that, to be something bad happening to another team). We're done with the first round of divisional games and now focus for a while on overall standings, so take a deep breath and:

OMITB WEEK 2 RECAP

Hello, OMITB! We are now 2 weeks and 4 games into the season, and it feels very early or very late, depending on how you've done so far. Here's what happened in Week 2:

  • It was a pyrrhic week for #1 Pacheco's Playmakers (4-0, B1). They win two to be the last unbeaten team standing, beating DaNoNames and Carolina Diesel (in a thriller), but losing their eponymous 3rd round draft pick to a broken leg.
  • #2 Show Me Your TD's (3-1, G1) split their week with a win over One Trick Pony and a loss to Lloyd Christmas.
  • #3 Keep Their Heads Ringin' (3-1, R1) beat Carolina Diesel handily, but lost to The Duke Boys, who were salty on the MNF battelfield.
  • #4 The Duke Boys (3-1, G2) blew up with the weekly high score to get within a game of the lead in Gold, outlasting Keep Their Heads Ringin' and rolling over Injured Reserve.
  • The #5 Ringwraiths (2-2, R2) were solid without their 1st round pick available, but split between a divisional loss to Lloyd Christmas and a win over Dawg Puck.
  • #6 One Trick Pony (2-2, G3) - once the schedule was correctly updated - lost two to drop to .500, a division game to Show Me Your TD's and another to DaNoNames.
  • #7 Lloyd Christmas (2-2, R3) roared back from a poor opener to sweep the Ringwraiths in division and Show Me Your TD's out of it.
  • Things could have gone worse for #8 DaNoNames (2-2, B2) without the overall #1 pick and showing a weak performance otherwise, but they split, beating One Trick Pony and losing to Pacheco's Playmakers.
  • #9 New Kid (2-2, B3) bounced back in Week 2 to sweep Dawg Puck and Injured Reserve, to stay in the early midfield.
  • #10 Carolina Diesel's (1-3, R4) streak of horrendous luck continued, scoring 124 points but losing a blowout to Keep Their Heads Ringin' and a 0.62-point squeaker to Pacheco's Playmakers.
  • #11 Injured Reserve's (0-4, G4) team hasn't showed up yet, and got swept by The Duke Boys and New Kid to start 0-4.
  • #12 Dawg Puck (0-4, B4) leaned hard into the name this week, losing 3 starters in one week to muster only 57 points, losing to New Kid and the Ringwraiths.

We are only halfway through the first stretch of doubleheaders, so there is still time to course correct and it is still too early to get cocky as the injuries pile up, but remember...
