Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs made his presence felt in Saturday's preseason game against the New York Giants, catching a 9-yard pass from C.J. Stroud for a first down in Houston's 28-10 victory. Although Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowler acquired from the Buffalo Bills, only had one reception, it was special as it was his first in a Texans uniform. His brief appearance demonstrated that he is already developing a strong rapport with Stroud. During the 15 snaps Stroud played, Diggs was on the field for 11, while starting receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell were on for 13 and 8 snaps, respectively. Collins is expected to lead in target and snap share, with Dell likely serving as the big-play threat. The question remains whether there will be enough targets left for Diggs to justify his current ADP in fantasy drafts.

Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs (undisclosed) missed Wednesday's practice and likely won't play in Friday's preseason game against the hosting Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium. Diggs sustained another undisclosed injury after having the wind knocked out of him on Tuesday at practice, but the issue is not expected to be a long-term problem. The 30-year-old All-Pro started hot in the first half of 2023 but took a steep downturn during the second half of the season as the alpha target with the Buffalo Bills, and he'll now share quarterback C.J. Stroud's targets with star wideouts Nico Collins and Tank Dell as well as safety valve Dalton Schultz in 2024. Diggs will have to overcome a likely drop in opportunity with efficiency to remain in WR1/2 conversations this fall, as he's unlikely to produce a fourth straight 100-catch season in his new digs.

The Houston Texans acquired wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a big trade this offseason from the Buffalo Bills, but after trading for him, the Texans voided the final three seasons of his contract. Diggs will play the 2024 season on a one-year deal worth $22.5 million, so it's essentially an experimental year in his first year in Houston. The 30-year-old could land an extension if he fits well in Houston and remains productive, but it will be interesting to see if the Texans work to reach a new deal with him at some point this season or if they wait until the offseason to assess the situation. Diggs will be motivated to produce in 2024 and moves to another potent offense, although he'll have more competition for targets among Nico Collins, Tank Dell and Dalton Schultz. He'll have a lower fantasy ceiling but should still see enough volume to make him worth a look as a low-end WR2/high-end WR3 in fantasy.

According to Houston Texans quarterback Case Keenum, wide receiver Stefon Diggs has impressed his teammates this offseason. "It's really cool to get back out there and see Stefon on the practice field and to watch him absolutely do some dirty things on some routes that I haven't seen anybody be able to do," said Keenum during his annual youth football camp. "He's a dynamic player, and he hasn't lost a step." Diggs has been one of the league's top wideouts for years, and he finished the 2023-24 campaign by amassing 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns off 107 catches. The 30-year-old will have the luxury of catching passes from C.J. Stroud, an up-and-coming signal-caller, in 2024-25. However, Diggs will have plenty of competition for targets in Houston, so he could have a tough time hitting the 1,000-yard receiving mark for a seventh-consecutive season.

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans WR Stefon Diggs' revised contract breaks down as follows: $20.895 million in signing bonus with $1.21 million fully guaranteed for skill, injury and salary cap. The 2025-28 seasons are voidable with $30 million salaries for cap purposes, and Diggs will count $5.867 million against the 2024 salary cap before becoming eligible for unrestricted free agency in March of 2025.

Newly acquired Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs can become a free agent after his 2024 campaign, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The organization wiped out the final three years of Diggs' contract and moved up $3.5 million in guarantees for next season into this year. He will earn a total of $22.52 million in guaranteed money in 2024. This move should add an extra incentive for Diggs to perform his best, and it will be interesting to see if the Texans can lock him up long-term next offseason. Diggs, who turns 31 next season, has accumulated at least 1,000 receiving yards and six touchdowns in each of his last six campaigns dating back to his time with the Minnesota Vikings.

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans WR Stefon Diggs can become a free agent at the end of the 2024 season after the Texans agreed to remove the final three years of his contract. Additionally, Houston took the $3.5 million guaranteed to Diggs in 2025 and moved it into this season, bumping up his guaranteed money for 2024 to $22.52 million.

Fantasy Spin: This is a bold yet strategic move by the Texans, who should get a motivated (and possibly happy) Diggs at the very least. While it would be painful to lose Diggs AND the second-round pick it took to acquire him, the tradeoff is that Diggs will have every reason to be on his best behavior. Don't be surprised if Diggs proves that rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated, although it may be difficult for him to extend his 100-catch season streak to five with Nico Collins and Tank Dell also pushing for targets.

Dynasty | The Bills are trading wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. Dynasty Analysis: Buffalo is reportedly receiving a second round pick (via Minnesota) in exchange for Diggs, a 6th round pick this season and a 5th round pick next year. It's a monster trade that shakes up the AFC in a big way. Diggs had clearly grown unhappy with the direction Buffalo was headed and was essentially phased out of the offense for large stretches last season. He'll now team up with CJ Stroud on a team poised to boast one of the NFL's most explosive offenses. Diggs could be overvalued a touch with this move but still looks like a decent buy for contending dynasty teams.

Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs was acquired by the Houston Texans Wednesday, April 3, in exchange for undisclosed draft pick compensation.

Fantasy Spin: No, this is no post-April Fool's joke. The electrifying rookie C.J. Stroud just got a WR1 to go with an already solid supporting cast. It's hard to envision he sees 160 targets again with Nico Collins and Tank Dell also hungry. Diggs was the WR9 last year, but he really fell off in the second half. There's no reason he can't remain around that area, but don't overdraft the 30-year-old amidst all the hype.

Apr 3 11:10am ET

The Buffalo Bills are trading All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs and two 2025 late-round picks to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick. Needless to say, this is a shocking and exciting development, and quarterback C.J. Stroud will now have no shortage of weapons to throw to in 2024. However, the fantasy football outlooks of Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Dalton Schultz are likely to take sizable hits. In Buffalo, Curtis Samuel and Khalil Shakir now move into the temporary WR1 and WR2 roles, but the Bills are surely planning to draft one or two wide receivers in the first three rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft. Diggs has expressed frustration in Buffalo over the last few seasons, but he has remained productive. The 30-year-old has posted at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last six seasons, including at least 1,100 yards in his last four campaigns with Buffalo. He keeps his WR1 upside in his new Texans uniform.
