San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (chest) appears to be making progress in his recovery process. The rookie wideout is only a few weeks removed from being shot during a robbery attempt. Despite that, Pearsall has started training again as he prepares to get back on the football field. This is great news as Pearsall could be back on the field as early as Week 5. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has stated that Pearsall remains week-to-week. The expectation is that Pearsall could be immediately utilized once he's cleared to play football again. The 49ers are going to be without wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) for at least a couple of weeks. His absence means an increased usage for Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, and probably tight end George Kittle. Pearsall should be in the mix as well, but remains out until at least Week 5.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed Friday that wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has begun working out again. It's excellent news for the rookie -- who traveled with the team to Minnesota -- as he can now shift his focus to returning to the field for his NFL debut. "He started working out again," said Shanahan. "I think it was a weight room workout yesterday. He's back to conditioning, getting back into football shape, and getting back to healthy." Pearsall is just 13 days removed from narrowly escaping with his life after he was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery. The bullet exited his back, near his armpit -- miraculously missing bones and vital organs alike. The former first-round pick will presumably need time to get back up to speed, considering that he saw no preseason action due to a shoulder subluxation that has nagged him since the spring. San Francisco will square off against the Vikings this Sunday in their first road matchup of the season.

Sep 8 11:30am ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (chest) is expected to return as soon as he's eligible in Week 5, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The first-round rookie is currently on the non-football injury list after being shot during an armed robbery attempt. Garafolo notes that Pearsall was back in the facilities and wanted to play in Week 1 against the Jets, but the 49ers opted to sideline him for four weeks by placing him on the non-football injury list. In his absence, Jauan Jennings is headed for the No. 3 role in San Francisco and could see additional opportunities if Brandon Aiyuk is limited on Monday night.

Sep 5 10:30pm ET

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that rookie first-round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (chest, shoulder) will take it easy for around a week to avoid working up a sweat but will begin his rehab after that. Pearsall was shot in the chest last Saturday during a robbery attempt but was released from the hospital the following day and has made remarkable progress already. The Niners put him on the Non-Football Injury list, so the 23-year-old will be forced to miss at least the first four weeks of his first year in the NFL. In addition to recovering from a gunshot wound to his chest, Pearsall was also rehabbing a shoulder injury that limited him in training camp and the preseason. It remains to be seen when Pearsall can join San Fran's offense, but right now, he's merely a stash in dynasty/keeper fantasy leagues. Pearsall's injuries have opened the door for a bigger role for Jauan Jennings as the WR3.

Sep 3 3:30pm ET

San Francisco 49ers rookie first-round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (chest) was back at the team's facilities and in the weight room around 48 hours after being shot in the chest during a robbery attempt over the weekend. Pearsall was put on the Non-Football Injury list on Monday, meaning he'll have to miss at least the first four games of his rookie season after the scary incident. The 23-year-old was released from the hospital on Sunday and will now get to work on his recovery as he looks to make an impact at some point for the Niners in 2024. Pearsall already missed valuable development time in training camp this summer due to injuries and will now fall behind even further, so fantasy managers hoping for some production in redraft leagues can probably leave him to the waiver wire for now. Pearsall is pretty much only worth stashing in dynasty/keeper formats.

Sep 2 4:30pm ET

San Francisco 49ers rookie first-round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (shoulder, chest) is being placed on the reserve/Non-Football Injury list, meaning he will miss at least the first four games of the 2024 season. The rookie out of Florida is out of the hospital and is recovering from a gunshot wound he suffered on Saturday. Needless to say, this is a unique situation, and his recovery will be worth monitoring moving forward. When Pearsall does return to action, he's unlikely to be on the fantasy football radar, barring an injury to Deebo Samuel Sr., Brandon Aiyuk, or Jauan Jennings. Especially after the scary incident over the weekend, expectations should be tempered for Pearsall in Year 1, but he remains an interesting stash in dynasty leagues.

Dynasty | 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been released from the hospital. Dynasty Analysis: Pearsall was shot in the chest in an apparent robbery and was extremely fortunate not to suffer a much worse fate. There's no word as of yet in terms of how long he'll be out but this is clearly good news. We'll update his dynasty future when it seem appropriate but this is obviously positive news.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (chest) was released from the hospital on Sunday. The rookie wideout was the victim of a robbery attempt on Saturday, resulting in a gunshot wound to the chest. Fortunately, the bullet missed his vital organs. Pearsall, the No. 31 overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, likely has some hurdles to clear before he even considers returning to the field. But once he does, he'll have an uphill climb before he's relevant for fantasy managers outside of dynasty formats, considering the 49ers offense currently features Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, and Deebo Samuel Sr.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (chest) was a victim of a robbery attempt on Saturday. According to reports, Pearsall was traveling to an autograph signing when he was approached by the suspect, who demanded the rookie's Rolex watch while brandishing a firearm. A struggle ensued for the gun, resulting in both Pearsall and the suspect sustaining gunshot wounds. The wideout was transported to a local medical facility and is now in stable condition. Police also caught the suspect. There should be an update on Pearsall's condition soon. While he'll likely miss time, his health beyond the field is undoubtedly more important.

Aug 26 4:50pm ET

San Francisco 49ers rookie first-round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (shoulder) returned to the practice field on Monday, but he was wearing a blue non-contact jersey. The rookie first-round pick out of Florida has been out of action for a few weeks, causing him to miss valuable reps in the absence of Brandon Aiyuk (holdout). Pearsall's role is already tough to analyze in Year 1 with the Niners, but his injury could take him even longer to get acclimated to his new offense. If Aiyuk re-signs with the 49ers, it would be a surprise if Pearsall is on the fantasy radar in 2024. If Aiyuk is traded or does not play early in the season, Pearsall could have deep-league flex value, but veteran Jauan Jennings (oblique) could play ahead of him. Ultimately, Pearsall is an intriguing dynasty stash, but his projected redraft value is likely to be limited.

Aug 25 7:10pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (shoulder) is set to return to practice on Monday, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. This is great news considering Pearsall has been sidelined throughout the preseason due to a lingering shoulder issue. However, there is still plenty of time for Pearsall to get ready to play before the season opener. The saga of Brandon Aiyuk is still ongoing, which makes Pearsall's value difficult to determine. He's unlikely to have great fantasy value right away, but is worth a look in deep leagues. Pearsall has a bright future, so he's worth the investment in dynasty formats or keeper leagues.

Aug 24 1:20pm ET

San Francisco 49ers rookie first-round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (shoulder) didn't play at all in the preseason due to an aggravated shoulder injury that traces back to his college days, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Pearsall last practiced in training camp on Aug. 6, but the good news is there is not enough significant structural damage to call into question his rookie season. Shanahan said he hopes Pearsall returns to practice this week, and if he does, it's a good sign for his availability for the regular-season opener on Monday night, Sept. 9, against the New York Jets. The 23-year-old partially dislocated his shoulder when he first hurt it in college, but it didn't stop the Niners from taking him 31st overall in April. His injury has added a wrinkle to the Brandon Aiyuk saga and should also be concerning to fantasy managers that have already invested in Pearsall in dynasty/keeper formats.

From RotoBaller

Aug 20 9:50pm ET

San Francisco's rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (shoulder) won't be practicing with the team this week. Head coach Kyle Shanahan did leave a glimmer of hope that Pearsall could play in the 49ers preseason finale on Friday against the Las Vegas Raiders, but it's looking like that window is closed. There is still some time between now and the 49ers Week 1 opener against the Jets on September 9, but Pearsall may not be heavily involved due to him missing critical installation time, especially with Brandon Aiyuk not practicing. For fantasy purposes, Pearsall is merely a late-round contingency pick in the event of an injury to Deebo Samuel or Aiyuk. The path to playing time seems a bit murky even then, as Jauan Jennings is also involved at wide receiver.

Aug 19 9:50pm ET

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Sunday night that he's "hoping" that rookie first-round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (shoulder) will return to training camp practice this week and also get some reps in Friday's preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders. Pearsall was surprisingly taken by the Niners at the end of the first round of April's NFL draft, but he began training camp on the Non-Football Injury list with a hamstring issue and has been missing valuable reps of late with a nagging shoulder ailment. The good news is the 23-year-old could get back on the field this week. Pearsall will probably only be worth a draft selection in redraft leagues if the Niners trade Brandon Aiyuk before the start of the regular season, but that is looking increasingly unlikely. If Aiyuk sticks around in 2024, Pearsall will be battling Jauan Jennings for targets as the team's WR3 in his rookie campaign.

Aug 16 4:00pm ET

San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (shoulder) is hopeful to be ready for Week 1, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. The first-round selection in this year's draft recently suffered a shoulder injury last week at practice. This was the same injury that kept Pearsall on the Non-Football Injury list earlier this spring. This is a tough blow for the Florida product, as he could have cemented himself as the No. 2 wide receiver in San Francisco amid a contract holdout with Brandon Aiyuk. Seeing that Shanahan is hopeful the 23-year-old could be ready for opening week is a great sign. Fantasy managers should take a look at Pearsall at his current 131.0 Yahoo ADP, as he may be a value if Aiyuk is eventually traded. If not, fantasy managers should expect Pearsall to split time as the No. 3 wideout with Jauan Jennings.

Aug 6 7:10pm ET

As a precaution, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (shoulder) was removed from practice Tuesday. The 49ers rookie wideout was put in a blue non-contact jersey earlier in training camp due to a shoulder injury. Pearsall projects to be the team's fourth wide receiver behind Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, and Deebo Samuel Sr. in 2024. However, with Aiyuk entrenched in trade rumors, Pearsall could see a leap in his fantasy stock. For now, Pearsall is a solid option to monitor ahead of fantasy drafts for both his injury and role in the offense.

Aug 3 2:20pm ET

San Francisco 49ers first-round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (hamstring) has shown impressive progress in training camp despite an initial slow start due to his injury. The 31st overall pick from the 2024 NFL Draft, who hails from Florida, was placed on the Non-Foothall Injury list before camp began but is now back at practice. Niners coach Kyle Shanahan praised Pearsall's development, noting, "real happy" and "He definitely understands our standard." With key players like Deebo Samuel Sr., Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, and Jauan Jennings already established, the 49ers don't need Pearsall to make an immediate impact. However, his strong performance could make it difficult for the team to keep him off the field come fall. Pearsall is a valuable asset in dynasty leagues but will need an injury or trade to become relevant in redraft leagues.

Jul 29 1:40pm ET

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Monday that they activated rookie first-round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (hamstring) from the Non-Football Injury list. Pearsall was working out on the side at training camp practice at the end of last week and will now be able to join the rest of his teammates as he prepares for his first NFL season in 2024. Many considered the 23-year-old to be a reach at the tail end of the first round in April, but his excellent route-running skills make him an attractive dynasty/keeper stash in Kyle Shanahan's offense. Pearsall probably isn't going to have a huge role this year as long as Brandon Aiyuk sticks around, but that could change as soon as 2025. Unless Aiyuk is traded or Deebo Samuel is injured, Pearsall can probably open the year on the waiver wire in standard 12-team fantasy leagues.

From RotoBaller

Jul 26 8:20pm ET

San Francisco 49ers rookie first-round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall's (hamstring) work on the side at training camp has progressed to route-running at what looks to be full speed. Pearsall looks on track to return to training camp practice next week after opening camp on the Non-Football Injury list. Barring a setback, the 23-year-old should be ready in plenty of time for the Week 1 regular-season opener, although he'll most likely struggle for consistent playing time in his first year in the NFL if the 49ers don't trade disgruntled wideout Brandon Aiyuk. Pearsall was a surprise first-round selection at the end of Round 1 back in April, and his production didn't exactly stand out in college at Arizona State and Florida. Although he isn't much of a redraft fantasy target in 2024, Pearsall has an intriguing long-term outlook in San Fran and should take on a starting role as early as 2025.

From RotoBaller

Jul 23 4:36pm ET

San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall will open training camp on the non-football injury list. Pearsall has a hamstring injury and expects to miss at least the first week of practices. Any missed time could impact his chances of playing time to start the season.
