2024 RTSports Outlook

Douglas had a productive rookie season, getting a chance to eventually play a pretty big role in the Patriots passing game. He played 14 games and got seven starts. Douglas had 49 receptions for 561 yards but failed to find the end zone. He was 64th overall in fantasy receiver scoring despite going without a touchdown. Douglas had five games with double-digit fantasy points. He has a chance to start from day one this season. Douglas is a small receiver that has a knack for getting open and making plays after the catch. He is a good fit for the Patriots offense. Douglas will struggle some with the contested catch because of his size.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Douglas could improve some on his rookie year. But his lack of scores is a concern and the Patriots could be a run-first offense once again. Take him as a No. 4 or 5 fantasy receiver come draft day. He could get around 60 receptions for 700 yards and a few scores.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Believe it or not, Douglas was the leading receiver on New England last year, hauling in 49 passes for 561 yards. This definitely speaks more to the pitiful state of the Pats' offense than to Douglas' talent, but it was a still a solid rookie campaign for the shifty 6th-round receiver out of Liberty. It's hard to know whether the move to rookie QB Drake Maye from Mac Jones will benefit Douglas, but he will come into the season with the #1 slot position locked down, and only has journeyman Kendrick Bourne, and rookie Ja'Lynn Polk to compete with for targets at the wide receiver position. Tight end Hunter Henry will command his fair share of looks, but rookie QBs usually favor guys that can get open close to the line of scrimmage, and that is Douglas' bread and butter. With an aDOT of 8.2, Douglas could once again be the target leader in this offense, which is more than enough reason to take a late round flier on him.

New England Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas (hand) has been dealing with a hand injury and wearing a red non-contact jersey at the start of training camp. However, he took the field on Friday with a white jersey, signifying he has been fully cleared. It's promising to see him recover well before the start of the 2024 campaign, and he's looking to build off his solid rookie season. The 2023 sixth-round pick out of Liberty led the team's wide receivers in receptions (49) and receiving yards (561) but did not secure a touchdown reception last year. He's been labeled a sleeper candidate heading into 2024, and he's a risk-free selection at his draft spot after the first 175 players go off the board. That said, the entire New England offense is likely to have limited upside with Jacoby Brissett and Drake Maye at quarterback and a lack of high-end weapons.

New England Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas (hand) is dealing with a hand injury that has limited him the last couple of days in training camp practices. Head coach Jerod Mayo called Douglas day-to-day on Friday. Douglas' injury is minor, but he's missing valuable repetitions as he looks to continue to impress in a Patriots receiving corps that is looking for players to step up in 2024. The 23-year-old second-year wideout was impressive in offseason workouts in the spring after going for 49 catches, 561 yards and no touchdowns in his rookie campaign in 2023 after he was taken in the sixth round out of Liberty. Douglas is one to watch entering his second year in the league, but with competition from rookies Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker in an offense led by quarterback Jacoby Brissett, he's probably going to go undrafted in standard 12-team leagues.

New England Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas has reportedly looked like the best and most explosive playmaker this spring. The former sixth-round pick was impressive during his rookie season with the Pats last season. He finished with 49 receptions and lead the team with 561 receiving yards in 14 games. The Pats failed to add much depth this offseason, which means Douglas should have a similar role once again. The hope is that the Pats offense is better under head coach Jerod Mayo and offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt. Douglas is worth a look in the later rounds of PPR fantasy drafts.
