During his introductory press conference, New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn was cryptic regarding quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his future with the team. "We've already [had] communication with [him]," said Glenn. "As we continue to look at the roster, we'll make decisions accordingly, and that's with a number of people on the team." Rodgers noted a few weeks ago that he needs some time away to reflect, but he did appear open to returning to the Jets if they'd have him. Whether the 41-year-old will be back with the team remains to be seen, but their new head coach is on record stating he plans to meet with the veteran QB soon and "will definitely come up with a decision much sooner than later. I don't wanna drag this out." Hopefully, Rodgers is of the same sentiment.

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers' future with the team is uncertain at this point, but head coach Aaron Glenn is believed to be open to having Rodgers return to the Jets in 2025.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation to see if Rodgers wants to play next season and where he will be if he continues playing. He had a solid 2024 season but will be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in leagues next season if he plays.

Jan 26 12:20pm ET

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is open to returning to the team in 2025 after they hired Aaron Glenn as their next head coach this week. However, Rodgers has made it clear that the ultimate decision on whether he returns will be up to Glenn and new general manager Darren Mougey. It helps, though, that Glenn is reportedly open to Rodgers returning as well, but the organization will now have conversations about whether a reunion is in the cards for the 2025 season. The 41-year-old has one more deal left on the three-year contract he signed with the Jets before the 2023 season. He's obviously not the long-term answer, but the Jets might be willing to run it back with the future Hall of Famer for one more year while a rookie QB sits on the sidelines and learns from him. If Rodgers returns, he'll be an injury risk as a QB2 in fantasy with limited upside.

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers had a league-high 39 of his passes dropped in 2024, according to Pro Football Reference.

Fantasy Spin: Rodgers may no longer be playing at a league MVP level, but the 39 drops - seven more than the next closest quarterback - is a ridiculous number for a signal-caller with the caliber of weapons New York had this season. Breece Hall (nine), Garrett Wilson (seven) and Allen Lazard (six) were among the most common culprits. The Jets have many questions entering the offseason, including whether Rodgers will remain with the team. If Rodgers chooses to play one more year, he will be no more than a middling QB2 option.

The New York Jets have hired Darren Mougey as their new general manager. As expected, Mougey will get the job after getting multiple interviews with the team. Mougey has been the assistant general manager of the Denver Broncos since 2022. However, Mougey has been with the Broncos organization for over a decade. This will certainly be an interesting situation for Mougey given the Jets roster seems ready to compete, but they lack a legitimate franchise quarterback. It remains to be seen if Aaron Rodgers is going to come back with Mougey in charge now.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has an uncertain future with the team with new head coach Aaron Glenn. Cimini reported that, unlike the previous Jets coaching staff with Nathaniel Hackett, Rodgers has no direct ties with Glenn. Entering his age-41 season could encourage the Jets to look elsewhere as they attempt to rebuild their roster. Cimini noted that given his age, it would be "loathsome" for an older player to learn a new scheme and would be out of his "comfort zone." However, given the current state of the quarterback market, it may be challenging to find someone as skilled as Rodgers. Despite coming off a torn Achilles, Rodgers started all 18 games for the Jets and averaged 229.2 passing yards per game with a 28:11 TD:INT ratio. Over the final five games, Rodgers began to turn the corner as he averaged 254 passing yards per game. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor this situation during the offseason as it will impact the outlook of the entire offense.

Jan 22 2:20pm ET

The New York Jets are hiring Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn to be the organization's next head coach, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. The 52-year-old has been rumored to be the lead candidate for much of the offseason, and he lands with New York less than a week after the Lions were knocked out of the playoffs in the NFC Divisional Round. Glenn led the No. 7 scoring defense and No. 5 rushing defense in 2024 despite Detroit dealing with a significant number of injuries on the defensive side of the ball. Glenn will be tasked with setting New York on the right path and breaking a 14-year postseason drought, which is the longest active streak in the NFL. Glenn will have plenty of defensive talent to work with right away, but the team will need to address the offense and the future of four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Jan 16 4:40pm ET

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers expressed that his future with the Jets is dependent on the new general manager and head coach, not on owner Woody Johnson. The former four-time MVP winner spoke on the Pat McAfee Show earlier on Thursday and expressed how he discussed his future with the team during exit meetings. Rodgers said, "I think everybody understands that it's going to come down to a GM and a coach and myself and whether we all want to do a dance together or if it's not in the cards." Fantasy managers should continue to monitor this situation, as Rodgers still has another year remaining on his contract with the Jets. After firing Robert Salah during the 2024 season, Jeff Ulbrich took over as the interim head coach. Following the end of the season, the Jets have had contact with several potential coaches, such as Ron Rivera, Aaron Glenn, and Brian Flores. During their GM search, they have spoken to Darren Mougey of the Broncos, Lance Newmark of the Commanders, and Trey Brown of the Bengals, among others. If Rodgers returns to the Jets, he would likely carry QB2 value, given his unstable production this past season.

Jets' QB Aaron Rodgers scored 28.70 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 18 win against the Dolphins. Rodgers threw for 274 yards on 23-of-36 with four touchdowns and one interception.

Jan 5 9:33pm ET

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers completed 23 of his 36 passes for 274 yards and a season-high four touchdowns, including the 500th of his career, in a 32-20 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 18.

Fantasy Spin: Although Rodgers had a few solid games over the course of the year, it was a rough season overall. It remains to be seen if Rodgers will call it a career, but if he does continue to play, he is no more than a QB2 at this stage of his career.

Jan 5 9:30pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 23 of his 36 passes for 274 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception in a 32-20 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 18. Rodgers set a record by becoming just the fifth NFL quarterback to throw 500 touchdown passes in his career, joining Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, and Brett Favre in the exclusive club. The veteran quarterback finishes his second season with the Jets with 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while appearing in all 17 of the team's games. It was a rocky season for Rodgers and a Jets team that had playoff aspirations in the preseason, only to fire head coach Robert Saleh in October and ultimately go 5-12 on the season. Rodgers is under contract for another season but the Jets could choose to part ways with the future Hall of Famer after the two sides appeared to have some issues throughout the season. After the game, Rodgers was not ready to state whether he would return for the 2025 season or retire. Stay tuned.

Dynasty | Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 23-of-36 passes for 274 yards with four touchdowns and one interception in a win against the Dolphins. Dynasty Analysis: Rodgers waited until the last possible moment to have his best game as a Jet. He finishes the season with just under 4,000 passing yards with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Speculation will only intensify now as Rodgers decides if he wants to retire or keep playing. He really wasn't great this season and was more of a problem than a solution for the Jets, but his history of greatness makes this a tough situation. Rodgers remains a hold in dynasty leagues as a bye-week fill-in or QB2, but it seems his days as a QB1 are all but over. Congratulations to Father Time, who remains undefeated.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will wrap up his 2024 season with a home matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 18. Rodgers struggled mightily in his last game, throwing for just 112 yards and two interceptions in a loss to the Buffalo Bills. He will attempt to finish on a high note against a Miami defense that has been tough on opposing quarterbacks, allowing the fewest fantasy points per game to the position this season. Rodgers said earlier in the week that Sunday's game could be his last, which gives some added luster to an otherwise uninspiring matchup. That being said, Rodgers settles in as a low-end QB2 for fantasy purposes this weekend.

From RotoBaller

Jan 2 10:33am ET

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers acknowledged he could be playing his last game for the Jets in Week 18 and said he would decide before free agency begins in March if he'll play in 2025. 'I'm just more resigned to the reality of the situation,' Rodgers said. 'I think there's going to be change here, and if I'm a part of the change, then I just want to make sure everybody knows I have nothing but gratitude for my time here.'

Fantasy Spin: Rodgers' mobility has really hindered him this year, and while he showed signs of fantasy merit, he really is an afterthought except in two-QB leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jan 1 6:30pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers acknowledged that the Week 18 regular-season finale on Sunday against the division-rival Miami Dolphins -- his 241st career start -- could be his last. The 41-year-old future Hall of Famer said he'll decide before free agency in March whether to play another year in 2025. Rodgers is open to returning to the Jets next year if the new regime will have him, but that's unlikely to happen. He missed all of 2023 due to a torn Achilles and ranks 25th out of 33 qualified QBs in total QBR this year with 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while leading the Jets to a 4-12 record. Rodgers needs one TD to become the fifth player in NFL history with 500 TD passes, and he needs only 115 passing yards to pass Matt Ryan for seventh on the career list. The four-time MVP will be going for those milestones this Sunday and will be in play as a midrange QB2 in fantasy.

Dec 30 12:20pm ET

New York Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich reiterated on Monday what he said following the blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday in Week 17: That the team plans to start quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the division-rival Miami Dolphins. The Jets' season was over a while ago, but the Dolphins playoffs hopes are still alive heading into the final week of the regular season. The wheels fell off for Rodgers and the 4-12 Jets on Sunday against the Bills, with the 41-year-old future Hall of Famer looking checked out while going just 12-for-18 for 112 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in the 40-14 loss. He was pulled late in favor of journeyman Tyrod Taylor, but it looks like Rodgers will get one more start in what is expected to be his final game with Gang Green. From a big-picture perspective, Rodgers needs one more TD for 500 in his illustrious career.

From RotoBaller

Dec 30 11:13am ET

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers was confirmed the starter for the Week 18 season finale.

Fantasy Spin: Rodgers will be a "meh" option in fantasy against the Miami Dolphins. He'll be chasing some personal milestones like his 500th career touchdown, but he has not looked anything close to startable in what could be a deciding week for season-long leaguers.

From TheHuddle

Dec 29 5:53pm ET

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers completed 12 of his 18 passes for 112 yards and two interceptions before being replaced by QB Tyrod Taylor in a 40-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 17.

Fantasy Spin: Rodgers entered the game needing one passing touchdown to reach 500 for his career, but he ended up having his worst outing since October. He will have one more chance to reach the milestone before a disappointing season comes to a close.

From TheHuddle

Dec 29 5:10pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was replaced by Tyrod Taylor in the fourth quarter of Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Rodgers finished with 112 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also took four sacks, including one for a safety. Interestingly, Taylor played significantly better in his two drives, completing 79 percent of his passes for 83 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Despite Taylor's promising fourth quarter, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich told the media postgame that he expects Rodgers to remain the starter for Week 18 against the Miami Dolphins. Looking beyond next weekend, Rodgers' future with the Jets remains uncertain, and it's possible he will enter 2025 with a new team or even on the retirement list.
