New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett relieved rookie Drake Maye (head) during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the New York Jets. He finished the first half and was eventually declared the quarterback for the second half, too, after Maye was downgraded to out. Brissett finished Week 8 having completed 15 of 24 passes for 132 yards, plus one sack and 11 rushing yards. He failed to score a touchdown, but more importantly, he played turnover-free football and led an efficient game-winning drive near the end of the fourth quarter. In the event that Maye enters concussion protocol and misses Week 9 against the Titans, Brissett would temporarily return to the starting quarterback role. He's still off the fantasy radar in most leagues.
From RotoBaller
New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett went 15-for-24 for 132 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions against the New York Jets in Week 8. He also rushed for 11 yards on three carries during the game. He entered the game after QB Drake Maye (concussion) suffered a concussion.
Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players will need to monitor the situation to see if Brissett will be the starter next week. He can be avoided in most fantasy leagues if he receives the Week 9 start.
From TheHuddle
New England Patriots QB Drake Maye will reportedly take over for Jacoby Brissett as the starting quarterback in Week 6 against the Houston Texans, according to sources.
Fantasy Spin: While it is not shocking that Brissett is getting replaced, the timing of this move runs counter to the belief that team brass was trying to protect its first-round pick from having to play behind one of the league's worst offensive lines. It is also not great for the rookie to make his first professional start against a defense averaging three sacks per game and pressuring the quarterback at a 27% rate. He is not worth starting this week - even in two-quarterback leagues - and does not change the fact that DST streamers should continue to target the Patriots' opponents.
From TheHuddle
New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 18 of 34 passes for 164 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero turnovers during Sunday's Week 5 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He also rushed for 10 yards and took two sacks. Although it was promising to see Brissett play turnover-free football for the fourth time in five weeks, it was just as frustrating to watch him finish his third game of the year without a single touchdown pass. The veteran failed to lead a potential game-winning drive and still hasn't eclipsed 170 passing yards in a single game this season. Fantasy managers should continue to avoid Brissett, whose job security has dwindled even further as Drake Maye waits in the wings.
From RotoBaller
New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett completed 18-of-34 passes for 160 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions while running for 10 yards on his only attempt in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins.
Fantasy Spin: The calls from fans, and even the media, are getting louder for head coach Jerod Mayo to pull the plug on Brissett, and insert rookie Drake Maye. This could have been the last straw, but we'll see what the coach intends on doing. What is obvious is that Brissett can be avoided in all leagues, as he is doing absolutely nothing from a fantasy perspective.
From TheHuddle
New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett remains off the fantasy radar as he heads into a Week 5 clash with the Miami Dolphins. Brissett has been uninspiring through the first four weeks of the NFL season, tallying just 536 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two turnovers. The veteran remains off the fantasy radar heading into a difficult matchup against the Dolphins, who have allowed the fourth-fewest passing touchdowns, fourth-fewest interceptions, and second-fewest completions to opposing quarterbacks this season. It's impressive that Miami's defense has fared this well despite being blown out the last three weeks, but that's likely a result of opponents gashing the Dolphins on the ground. Accordingly, we can expect a solid showing from Antonio Gibson and perhaps Rhamondre Stevenson, but Brissett remains a fantasy non-factor.
From RotoBaller
After the New England Patriots' blowout loss on the road to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4 on Sunday, head coach Jerod Mayo once again reiterated that quarterback Jacoby Brissett is the starter moving forward. "Jacoby is 100% our starter, and that's how we're going to look at this going forward," Mayo said. Brissett went 19-for-32 for 168 yards, one touchdown and a pick-six in the 30-13 loss to the Niners and also fumbled once. A report surfaced before Sunday's game that rookie first-round quarterback Drake Maye isn't exactly close to being ready to take over, so it's more about Maye's progress than Brissett actually earning the gig. Through four weeks, Brissett checks in as the QB32 with 536 passing yards, two touchdowns and a pick in four games while leading New England to a league-worst 13.0 points per game. Even in superflex leagues, fantasy managers should be looking to avoid him in Week 5 against the division-rival Miami Dolphins.
From RotoBaller
New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett is '100% our quarterback going forward,' according to head coach Jerod Mayo.
Fantasy Spin: Brissett is the QB32 after four weeks, and he's maybe a matchup play in two-QB leagues.
From TheHuddle
New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett completed 19-of-32 passes for 168 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers, and he added two runs for three yards while fumbling three times with one lost.
Fantasy Spin: Brissett's passing yardage total was actually a season high, so that tells you a little about his fantasy appeal. He has just two passing scores and the one pick. Brissett isn't doing much, except for keeping the starting job warm for rookie Drake Maye. For fantasy purposes, Brissett should be avoided until absolutely desperate in 2QB leagues when the byes kick in.
From TheHuddle
New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 19 of 32 passes for 168 yards, one touchdown, and one interception during a Week 4 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He also rushed for three yards and took six sacks behind a depleted offensive line. Furthermore, Brissett fumbled three times, with one of those fumbles being recovered by the defense. The veteran quarterback had not allowed a turnover through the first three games this season, but then he coughed up the football twice on Sunday. New England falls to 1-3 as buzz continues to grow for Drake Maye. For now, though, the offense still belongs to Brissett. He remains the Patriots' starting quarterback heading into a Week 5 clash with the ailing Miami Dolphins. Perhaps this favorable matchup next Sunday will be enough to get the Patriots back in the win column. However, Brissett is still off the fantasy radar given the Patriots' run-heavy approach on offense.
From RotoBaller
New England Patriots center David Andrews (shoulder) exited during the first quarter of Week 4 versus the San Francisco 49ers. He was taken to the locker room and is officially questionable to return. The Patriots already have one of the weakest, most inexperienced offensive lines in football, so losing Andrews, a 10-year veteran, is far from ideal. His injury is bad news for New England's playmakers, including quarterback Jacoby Brissett and running backs Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson. Nick Leverett, who played just two offensive snaps through the first three weeks, will now take over at center for the duration of Andrews' absence.
From RotoBaller
New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett should be left on waivers in most fantasy leagues ahead of his Week 4 clash with the San Francisco 49ers. The Patriots hoped Brissett could help transition them into the Drake Maye era by opening the season as the starter, playing clean football, and eventually turning over the reins to the No. 3 pick. So far, that has come to fruition as Brissett won the job in Week 1 and has completed 42 passes for 368 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions since then. He hasn't been asked to throw much at all, which has limited his big-play ability. However, he's done a good job taking care of the football, tallying zero turnovers so far. Sacks, on the other hand, have been an issue for the veteran. New England's porous offensive line has allowed Brissett to be taken down nine times this year, including five in Week 3 against the New York Jets. To put it simply, the Patriots are letting Brissett take the dirty work under center until they feel Maye is ready to get game action. We saw the rookie make his NFL debut in the waning minutes of the Jets game, and the expectation is that he'll continue to see more opportunities going forward as he gets acclimated to an NFL style of play. In the interim, Brissett remains the starting quarterback in this run-heavy offense. This week, he's a fantasy QB3 against a 49ers defense that has allowed the sixth-fewest completions this year.
From RotoBaller
New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett will continue as the starter indefinitely, head coach Jerod Mayo told reporters Friday, Sept. 20.
Fantasy Spin: Rookie Drake Maye is waiting in the wings, but for now it will continue to be Brissett. He still doesn't offer any value for fantasy managers.
From TheHuddle
New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett was given a vote of confidence from his head coach, Jerod Mayo, on Friday morning, according to Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald. Mayo expressed, "Jacoby is our quarterback until I say he's not our quarterback." This is a good sign for the 31-year-old veteran, as he was lifted from Thursday's game late in the game in favor of rookie Drake Maye. Brissett struggled against a tough New York defense on Thursday, throwing for just 98 yards and completing 12 of his 18 passes. Maye went 4-for-8 with 22 yards in his short-lived professional debut late in the fourth quarter. Fantasy managers in 1QB leagues should continue to leave Brissett on the waiver wire for the time being.
From RotoBaller
New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 12 of 18 pass attempts for 98 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero turnovers against the New York Jets in Week 3. He also took five sacks, which is a clear indication that New England has a porous offensive line. The unit has specifically been bad in pass protection, which has left Brissett with very little time to get comfortable in the pocket and connect with his receivers. The veteran quarterback has done a great job controlling the football (he has zero turnovers through three games), but his overall yardage and touchdown totals are among the league's worst. Brissett was ultimately relieved by Drake Maye in the fourth quarter of Thursday's game, creating some questions about who will start at quarterback in Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers. Regardless of that decision, Brissett can be avoided in most fantasy leagues moving forward.
From RotoBaller
New England Patriots QB Drake Maye replaced QB Jacoby Brissett in the fourth quarter of the Week 3 game against the New York Jets, completing four of his eight passes for 22 yards and rushing twice for 12 yards in a 24-3 loss.
Fantasy Spin: Maye will be the starter in New England at some point, and if the Patriots continue to lose, the rookie's time will come sooner rather than later. Maye should be stashed in keeper leagues.
From TheHuddle
New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett completed 12 of his 18 passes for 98 yards in a 24-3 loss to the New York Jets in Week 3. He was sacked five times.
Fantasy Spin: Brissett and the New England offense were stuck in the mud all night, and rookie Drake Maye replaced Brissett late in fourth quarter. It might not be a premanent change just yet, but Brissett's time as the starter could be over in the near future.
From TheHuddle
New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett can be avoided in most fantasy leagues ahead of Week 3 versus the New York Jets. Brissett has been solid so far, playing turnover-free football while leading the Patriots to a 1-1 record. However, he has limited rushing upside and the Patriots simply don't pass enough to get Brissett's stats to a fantasy-relevant level of production. He's had under 150 passing yards in each of his two games so far this season, and he's only thrown for one touchdown. The veteran quarterback has earned trust within the New England offense, but not in fantasy football. He can be left on waivers in 1QB leagues and benched in most 2QB formats.
From RotoBaller
New England Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett completed 15-of-27 passes for 149 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks, while posting six rushing yards on two attempts.
From TheHuddle
New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 15 of 27 passes for 149 yards, one touchdown, and zero turnovers during the team's 23-20 overtime loss against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. This was a similar stat line to Brissett's Week 1 finish, with the main difference being that he threw for a touchdown this Sunday. Just as important is the fact that he played turnover-free football for the consecutive week. The veteran isn't a very appealing fantasy option given the Patriots' mellow passing attack, but he has certainly provided plenty of value to the organization with a very solid first two games of the year. He'll face the Jets on Thursday night in Week 3.
