2024 RTSports Outlook

White took his game to a new level last season, finishing fourth overall in fantasy running back scoring. He had more than 1,500 total yards, nine touchdowns and 64 receptions. He was super consistent all season because of his workload in both the running and passing game. From Week 7 to 16, White had at least 13 fantasy points all 10 of those games. White did make few plays after contact, averaging just 1.5 yards per carry after contact. He also broke just nine tackles despite having over 300 touches on the season. And his 3.6 yards per carry was not very good for all the work he got. This was a little bit of a letdown for White. He is going to be the No. 1 back for the Bucs but will need to improve on his yards per carry average if he hopes to keep starting. White is a true three-down back. He does a good job of setting blocks and making plays in the passing game. White lacks a little explosiveness, though, and breakaway speed. He also has not been good after contact both of his seasons in the NFL.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: White is an elite fantasy back because of his workload. He gets a ton of work in the passing game, giving him a high weekly floor. It would not surprise if his numbers rise even more this year with just a little improvement in his yards per carry average. Consider White a top-10 fantasy back. White can get around 1,700 total yards, 60 receptions and double-digit touchdowns.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' third-year running back Rachaad White was a fantasy gem last season, as many didn't select him until much later in drafts. He ended up being one of the biggest steals in 2023. Despite the team's struggles, White emerged as a bright spot in the Buccaneers' offense during the 2023 season. The 25-year-old showcased his versatility and playmaking ability as a runner and a receiver. He finished the 2023 season with 990 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns, and 549 receiving yards while adding three more receiving scores. White enters the 2024 season as the Buccaneers' primary running back, poised for a valid breakout year. His main competition for touches is fourth-round rookie Bucky Irving, veteran Chase Edmonds, and second-year back Sean Tucker. White is a valuable target in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts, typically in the fourth to the fifth-round range, as his ADP is 40.1 while also being ranked 41st on RotoBaller's player rankings. His potential for a high volume of touches and involvement in the passing game makes him a reliable and high-upside pick. Managers looking for a versatile running back with the potential for a breakout season should consider drafting White. He is positioned as a solid RB2 with RB1 upside, particularly in PPR leagues. His dual-threat capability ensures a high floor, and the potential for increased usage in an improved offense provides a significant upside. White could easily exceed expectations and deliver substantial fantasy value if the Buccaneers' offense performs well with returning quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White posted 990 rushing yards last season, the highest rushing total for a Buccaneer since Doug Martin in 2015 (1,402). Heading into Year 3, White aims to go "well above" the 1,000-yard mark on the ground. "Obviously, my goal is to do whatever I can to help the team win," White said. "We've been last, or 25th to last the past five or six years when it comes to rushing, Tampa Bay has been down bad. My goal, and what I expect me to do, is turn that around." The Buccaneers lost offensive coordinator Dave Canales this offseason, so it will be interesting to see the offensive identity under Liam Cohen. The team selected fourth-round rookie Bucky Irving in the 2024 NFL Draft, but White should remain the clear RB1 and could continue to receive a healthy opportunity share. If he keeps a workhorse role, another top-10 fantasy football season is well within reach.

May 6 4:40pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White saw 75.3% of the team's running back carries and targets in 2023, but running back coach Skip Peete said there will be more competition for touches this season. Tampa Bay selected Oregon running back Bucky Irving in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, while Chase Edmonds and 2023 undrafted free agent Sean Tucker remain on the roster. Ultimately, none of the running backs behind White are expensive investments for the organization, and it's always tricky to know whether a coach is being transparent or just trying to motivate the players in his position room. White was the RB4 overall (PPR) last season behind 990 rushing yards, 549 receiving yards, and nine total touchdowns. Although he could see his rushing volume take a hit, his receiving skill set that he's flashed since his collegiate career at Arizona State should keep him on the field for high-yield fantasy situations.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White made the most of his chances during Sunday's playoff matchup against the Detroit Lions. White didn't see his normal workload with the Bucs going pass-heavy in this game. He rushed nine times for 55 yards, while hauling in four of his five targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in the loss. White established himself as the workhorse RB1 in this offense. However, White managed only 3.6 yards per carry while seeing the second most rushing attempts in the league. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Bucs bring in some competition for White this offseason. Barring any blockbuster moves, White should still be able to provide at least RB2 value heading into next season.

Jan 19 9:30am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White continues to be the workhorse back in this offense. White has posted back-to-back games with over 70 rushing yards, which is nice to see. However, White hasn't seen much involvement in the passing game, which is hurting his fantasy value. He has also been held out of the end zone for three straight games. It won't get any easier for White in a divisional round matchup against the Detroit Lions this weekend. His high usage makes him an interesting DFS candidate, but the lack of pass-catching and scoring is a concern.

Jan 16 9:30am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White rushed 18 times for 72 yards and caught one of his three targets for three yards in the 32-9 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Monday's Wild Card contest. White remained a high-volume running back in this spot, but he did not find the end zone, resulting in a down fantasy and DFS performance. Next week, he'll go on the road to face the Detroit Lions, who surrendered the fewest fantasy points per game to running backs during the regular season.

Jan 12 10:30am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White has taken a major step forward during his second season. The 25-year-old rushed for 990 yards, which is double the yardage from his rookie campaign. Also, White found the end zone on the ground six times compared to his one score from last season. The Bucs have made White a focal point on offense with 20 or more carries in four of his last six games. The expectation is that the Bucs will continue to pound the ball with White during Monday's Wild-Card matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. White should make for a safe option in DFS contests this weekend.
