Dotson had a better second season but still wasn't a huge factor in the passing game. He had 49 receptions for 518 yards and four touchdowns. He did set a career high in receptions but his yardage and touchdown totals regressed from year one. The Commanders had erratic quarterback play, though, which didn't help matters for Dotson and the entire offense. Dotson was traded to the Eagles during the preseason. He heads to a much better offense but likely is No. 3 or 4 on the depth chart with his new team. Dotson is an explosive player that does well at all levels. He can turn a short pass into a big play or just run past defenders to make a big play down the field. He is a pretty complete package. He lacks a little strength, so injury is a concern, especially after missing some time his rookie season.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Dotson lands in a tough spot. He could grow into a role but likely will be inconsistent along the way. He will be tough to trust, making him a deep reserve for fantasy owners. Dotson can get around 50 receptions for 700 yards and five or so touchdowns.
After an impressive rookie season in 2022, Washington Commanders wide receiverJahan Dotsonwas epically disappointing in 2023 -; failing to surpass his yardage and touchdown total from his promising rookie year. Unfortunately, the emergence ofCurtis Samuelas a reliable short-game target for second-year quarterbackSam Howellquelled what might have been a breakout season for Dotson last year. Samuel is gone, however -; shipped off to Buffalo -; and Dotson again projects as the WR2 for the Commanders. With new rookie signal-callerJayden Danielsat the helm, this offense could prove to be a valuable -; unexpected -; source of fantasy output. However,Dotson has significant target competition withTerry McLaurin-; a staple in the offense -; and newly acquired teammatesLuke McCaffreyandAustin Ekeler. It's hard to predict consistent volume for Dotson with a rookie QB and many talented mouths to feed. Still, he should certainly be on our radar at his measly price of WR63 (#152 overall), which aligns with his RotoBaller WR59 ranking. Dotson is absolutely worth a flyer at this ADP, considering he was regularly taken between Rounds 6-9 last year.

Dynasty | The Eagles have acquired wide receiver Jahan Dotson from the Washington Commanders. Dynasty Analysis: The Commanders traded the former first round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a third-round pick and two seventh-round picks in 2025. It's a deal that kind of comes out of left field, though Dotson was reportedly being outplayed in camp by both Dyami Brown and Olamide Zaccheus. Dotson will slot in as the third receiver for the Eagles behind AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. It's a move that certainly doesn't help his dynasty value as the former first rounder won't likely see anything like the 83 targets he had last season.
The Washington Commanders are trading wide receiver Jahan Dotson and a fifth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and two seventh-round picks. This is one of the more surprising deals in recent memory, considering the two organizations are NFC East foes. Dotson was selected by Washington in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft and racked up 35 receptions for 523 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie in 12 games. Despite playing in 17 games in 2023, he tallied just 518 yards and four touchdowns. There have been reports that Dotson was failing to secure the WR2 role in Washington this offseason, and his departure clears the way for Olamide Zaccheaus and rookie Luke McCaffrey to see more snaps than expected in 2024. Dotson's fantasy value was already declining, but now that he's behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in the Philadelphia passing game, it would be a surprise if he sees a healthy amount of targets from Jalen Hurts.

Albert Breer is reporting the Commanders are trading WR Jahan Dotson and a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Eagles for a 2025 third-round pick and two 2025 seventh-round picks.
Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson expressed that he is "not where he wants to be" after Thursday's practice. Dotson further expressed, "I'm trying to grow every single day that I come out here. Trying to find something to get better at every single day." These comments came just a few days after head coach Dan Quinn told the media that the Commanders are still searching for the No. 2 receiver. Dyami Brown led all wide receivers in yards in their first preseason game on Saturday afternoon and has been having a fantastic training camp. Fantasy managers should continue to pay close attention to the Washington wide receiver room during the final two weeks of the preseason, as it may decide who plays alongside Terry McLaurin this fall.
From RotoBaller
Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson has raised eyebrows this spring as he hopes to have a big bounce-back season. According to John Keim of ESPN the Penn State product has looked quite well against press coverage, which was an area he struggled in last season. Dotson caught seven scores in his rookie campaign in 2022 and gained 20 or more yards on 28.6% of his catchers. However, he experienced a significant sophomore slump where he caught only four touchdowns and gained 20 or more yards on a much lower 10.2% mark. In addition, his average air yards per target dropped from 14.35 in his first season to 9.25 last fall. Wide receivers coach Bobby Engram has also expressed the importance of improving his press releases, which will, in turn, get him downfield and provide him with more opportunities to make a big play. The 24-year-old currently sits with an ADP of 154.6 in standard leagues, but he could be a steal as the newly revamped Washington offense with Jayden Daniels at the helm can get Dotson's career back on track.
