2024 RTSports Outlook

Pierce was a starter once again for the Colts last year but erratic in that role once again. He finished with similar numbers to his rookie season, having 32 receptions for 514 yards and two touchdowns. He made some big games but also disappeared some of those weeks. Pierce had just two games all season with double-digit fantasy points. He had just three games with 50-plus yards. Pierce should continue to play a big role for the Colts passing game, likely starting. Pierce is a very physical receiver that uses his size and strength to his advantage. He isn't a polished route runner but can help make up for that because of his physical attributes. Pierce also can stretch the field because of his speed and strength. He can do a little bit of everything.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Pierce could have a little better numbers this year but remains reserve material for fantasy teams. He could get around 50 receptions for 700 yards and four touchdowns.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Pierce has been steady in a starting role for the Indianapolis Colts during his first couple years in the NFL. Playing the part of the No. 3 WR who can stretch the field from the outside, Pierce put up back-to-back 500-plus-yard seasons and averaged 15.2 yards per catch. Those numbers, along with his consecutive two-TD seasons, meant he did not have much of a fantasy impact, though The problem for Pierce heading into the upcoming season is the competition for targets has gotten stiffer. Indianapolis drafted Adonai Mitchell in the second round, arguably a player who many thought would have gone in the first round. With Michael Pittman Jr. as the top target outside and Josh Downs manning the slot, Pierce will have to battle Mitchell for the No. 3 WR spot in the offense. This is not even counting Jelani Woods, who has returned from a season-ending hamstring injury to reclaim his spot as Indy's top tight end. Pierce will have to fight and claw just to get enough targets to have another 500-yard year, let alone improve and become more of a fantasy force that gets into the 750-yard range. He is a better pick in a dynasty league where he can be stashed on a roster and the manager can wait to see how the receiver rotation works out in Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce hopes to prove he's more than just a "deep threat." "I think there's a lot more to my game," Pierce said recently. "I just want to have the chance to be able to showcase that." The 24-year-old has displayed brief glimpses of promise in his first two seasons in the league, amassing 73 catches for 1,107 yards and four touchdowns in 33 games. Michael Pittman Jr. is the No. 1 wideout on the depth chart. However, Pierce seems eager to show everyone that he's more than a one-dimensional player, so he could be in line for his most productive season to date, especially if quarterback Anthony Richardson can play at a high level. He'll be competing for the No. 2 spot primarily with Adonai Mitchell, who the Colts selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce (foot) didn't take part in mandatory minicamp this week as a precaution after his foot was stepped on in practice last week. It's a minor injury for Pierce, who should be a full-go for training camp at the end of July. The 24-year-old wideout will be competing for the No. 3 job in Indy this year with rookie second-rounder Adonai Mitchell behind starters Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs. The former second-rounder in 2022 out of Cincinnati hasn't really been on the fantasy radar in standard 12-team leagues in his first two years in the NFL, catching a total of 73 passes for 1,107 yards and four touchdowns, although a healthy Anthony Richardson at quarterback could change that if Pierce beats out Mitchell for the No. 3 job in training camp and the preseason.
