2024 RTSports Outlook

Purdy had a huge season as the full-time starter for the 49ers' high-powered offense. He was seventh overall in fantasy quarterback scoring. Purdy topped 4,000 passing yards and scored 33 total touchdowns with just 11 interceptions. Purdy had 20-plus fantasy points in 10 of 16 games, showing great consistency. He also completed a very impressive 69.4 percent of his passes, having great accuracy. Purdy will continue to be the starter for the 49ers top offense. Purdy is an accurate passer that takes what the opposition gives him. He doesn't force passes and can make plays with his legs if needed. He moves around the pocket well and is a good fit for the 49ers offense. He knows his limitations and is capable of the big play when given the chance.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Purdy is a legit fantasy starter in this explosive offense. He will post consistent weekly numbers and finish as a top-15 fantasy quarterback once again. Last season wasn't a fluke. He can get around 4,000-passing yards, 35 total touchdowns and 200 or so rushing yards.

RotoBaller's Outlook

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy continues to be one of the biggest sleepers at the position in fantasy drafts this year. Despite finishing as the QB6 last season, Purdy is usually the 12th quarterback selected in drafts in 2024. That makes him a nice value pick in the middle rounds of one quarterback leagues. Last season, Purdy was one of the most consistent fantasy options and averaged 18 fantasy points per game. He also scored above 20 points in nine of 17 starts while throwing for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns on the year. Fantasy managers, though, don't appear to be buying the hype from the 49ers quarterback. However, he is certainly worth a shot in all formats. He has a solid receiving core consisting of Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, and Christian McCaffrey. Those weapons mixed with Kyle Shanahan's scheme has allowed the young quarterback to succeed. Even though he won't provide a ton of stats on the ground -- 144 rush yards in 2023 -- his passing upside in San Francisco's offense makes him a low-end QB1 option in fantasy this season.

The San Francisco 49ers were remarkably balanced and efficient with their passing offense last year, but they attempted fewer passes (491) than any team in the league during the regular season. Despite that, the 49ers finished fourth in passing yards (4,384), and both Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle hit the 1,000-yard receiving mark. Last year was the beginning of the team's evolution into a more aggressive pass offense, one that put more of an emphasis on big shots downfield to its receivers and Kittle. After taking wideouts Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing in this year's draft, the offense is more capable against man coverage through the air. And given head coach Kyle Shanahan's trust in quarterback Brock Purdy, the investment in young receivers makes sense. The Niners called more pass plays than run plays in the playoffs, which could be a sign that Purdy will get more opportunities to make things happen with his arm in 2024.

Dynasty | 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has expressed an interest in staying with San Francisco. Dynasty Analysis: The fact Aiyuk wants a new contract is the worst kept secret in the league. The 49ers were unable to trade Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel during the draft and are caught in a salary cap nightmare as they simply can't pay everyone on their offense, especially with Brock Purdy eventually needing a new (and hefty) contract in the near future. Aiyuk wants to stay but also wants his money. There really isn't a clear indication of what's going to happen, so dynasty managers need to treat him as a "hold" right now. His value could easily go up or down based on a resolution this Summer.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy feels better positioned for success heading into the 2024-25 campaign. Unlike last offseason, when the signal-caller was working his way back from an elbow injury, he has been training since the 49ers were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII. "We got all the way to the end. We're right there and weren't able to finish it," Purdy said during an interview. "So for me, I had that taste in my mouth, and then get back into the gym, start slowly, working into it. And then here, in OTAs, getting with [head coach] Kyle [Shanahan] and going over all the games that we played in, every play, and going over situational football and stuff, and taking that and actually going out on the field and running things and repping things, and throwing to receivers. Last year, I didn't have that, so now that I'm able to attack those things, I feel like I've gotten better." Purdy finished the regular season by throwing for 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 11 picks while completing nearly 70% of his throws. It remains to be seen if the 24-year-old will be better than he was in 2023-24. But he's a viable fantasy quarterback in nearly all formats, even more so if Brandon Aiyuk remains with the Niners.

San Francisco 49ers All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams said he plans to return for another season with the team in 2024. The 35-year-old is still one of the best overall players in the NFL, and retirement has not been a consideration. Williams was originally selected by the Washington Redskins with the fourth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Since then, he has been named to four All-Pro teams are 11 Pro Bowl rosters. His decision to keep playing is obviously great news for quarterback Brock Purdy and the rest of the Niners offense. He is scheduled to have a base salary of $20.05 million in 2024.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy's best efforts failed to bring the team's first championship in 29 years in Sunday's Super Bowl matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. As the Chiefs sealed the second overtime victory in Super Bowl history, Purdy's night ended at 23 completions of 38 attempts for 255 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions against a tough pass defense. It's hard to say that Purdy had a bad game, but it may be tough to shake his "game manager" tag after this one. He kept his team in the game throughout and led an overtime drive to a field goal, but there were times when his inexperience showed, standing in contrast to Patrick Mahomes' clean game-winning touchdown drive in response. Purdy will look to get his team back for another shot and will most likely be on the QB1/QB2 border this fall in fantasy drafts.

Feb 10 5:50pm ET

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy faces his toughest playoff matchup this year when he leads his team into Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium on Sunday to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII. In the NFC Championship Game against Detroit, the former seventh-round pick led a historic second-half comeback but posted mediocre fantasy numbers, finishing with 267 yards passing, one touchdown, and one interception. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has the Kansas City pass defense playing their best football of the season lately, holding some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL to an average of 219 yards passing and one touchdown per game during their playoff run. In the regular season, Purdy has struggled against top pass defenses, getting intercepted four times with no touchdowns against Baltimore and being held to 125 passing yards and one touchdown back in Week 6 at Cleveland. Patrick Mahomes is the better fantasy option at quarterback in the Super Bowl, but there's a chance Purdy's DFS price drops low enough to be worth serious consideration.

Dynasty | 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy completed 20-of-31 passes for 267 yards with one touchdown and one interception in an NFC Championship win against the Lions. Dynasty Analysis: The stat line doesn't tell the whole story here. Purdy rallied the 49ers from 17 points down in the second half and didn't panic, despite the Lions looking destined to win. While his stats haven't been dominant all season, Purdy is about as steady as they come and has a chance to move from QB14 all the way up to a true QB1 this off-season.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy led the team to a 34-31 comeback victory in the NFC Championship Game over the Detroit Lions at Levi's Stadium on Sunday. The 17-point halftime deficit Purdy and the 49ers erased in the second half was the largest comeback in NFC Championship Game history. He finished the day 20-for-31 for 267 yards passing, one touchdown, and one interception plus five scrambles for 48 yards rushing. While Purdy's fantasy total may have disappointed DFS and playoff pool gamers, he continues to throw cold water on the narrative that he is a mere "game manager". Purdy is indeed surrounded by offensive talent -- see receiver Brandon Aiyuk bailing him out on a too-deep shot off a defender's face mask, for example -- but he made several impressive, clutch plays, including with his legs. Catch him in two weeks when tries to bring the first Super Bowl Championship to the Bay in nearly 30 years against the Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas.

Jan 27 2:30am ET

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had an uneven performance in last week's Divisional Round comeback win versus the Green Bay Packers, throwing multiple inaccurate passes in the rain while mixing in a handful of brilliant ones. He'll look to sharpen up on Sunday when the team hosts the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship game at Levi's Stadium. Detroit's defense has been vulnerable to the pass in both seasonlong and recent metrics. They finished the regular season ranking second-worst in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks as well as over the last five games of the season. In their two playoff games, the Lions allowed an average of 358 yards through the air. Purdy's accuracy issues should dissipate with no rain in the forecast this week. For DFS players unwilling to spend for Lamar Jackson, Purdy is arguably the next best option of the quarterbacks still standing this week in the Championship Round.
