2024 RTSports Outlook

Nix was selected in the first round of this year's draft by the Broncos. Denver hopes he is their franchise quarterback for years to come. The good news for Nix is he doesn't have a ton to compete with for the right to start this year, so he could be starting from day one in Denver. Nix was a very productive college player but came from a bit of a gimmick offense. He will need to adjust to the pro game and get used to playing in a more pro-style offense. Nix has the tools to succeed, though. He has a top arm and can make plays on the run. He also is a tough quarterback who isn't afraid to lower his shoulder and pick up the extra yard. His accuracy can be an issue, though, and he can struggle with decision-making at times, especially when pressured.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Nix doesn't land in a great fantasy spot. He could play right away, but that doesn't mean he will be a huge help to fantasy teams. He is likely to be up and down in this offense. Look for around 3,000 yards, 20 total touchdowns and a 200-rushing yards.

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix was viewed by many front offices as a backup-caliber player, according to NFL insider Todd McShay. As relayed by Scott Barrett of Fantasy Points, McShay spoke to roughly one dozen teams, and the Broncos were the only one that had a Round 1 grade on Nix. The other teams all had a backup-caliber grade on him. This doesn't necessarily mean that Nix will be a bust and the Broncos will be proven wrong, but it certainly suggests that Denver took a risk by selecting the Oregon product 12th overall in last month's draft. As spring turns to summer, Nix will embark on a competition for the starting quarterback job with Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson. He's an appealing dynasty option but can probably be avoided in most redraft leagues for now.

The Denver Broncos surprisingly took quarterback Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick in this year's NFL draft, adding to a QB room that already included Jarrett Stidham and former first-rounder Zach Wilson. The Broncos were in no rush to name Nix the starter last week after drafting him, and he hasn't even thrown his first pass in rookie minicamp. Neither Stidham nor Wilson have had much experience or success at the NFL level, but it's clear that Denver won't rush Nix if he's not ready. With that said, the former Oregon signal-caller has every chance to win the job in his rookie season in 2024. The best bet going into Week 1 this fall is that either Stidham or Wilson will open the year as the team's starter under center, giving Nix time to develop and learn. Nix won't be a realistic option in 2024 redraft fantasy leagues, nor will Stidham/Wilson, outside of superflex leagues.

Dynasty | The Denver Broncos drafted Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Dynasty Analysis: Franklin's draft stock plummeted after his poor off-season showing at the NFL Draft Combine and tape that showed he may really struggle against more physical corners. In the end, he was taken at the top of round four by the Denver Broncos. He'll be reunited with quarterback Bo Nix and could surprise if he can prove he's strong enough. Still, he's clearly dropped in rookie drafts and looks like a third round rookie pick at the moment after being the 17th receiver off the board.

With the No. 12 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Broncos selected Oregon quarterback Bo Nix. The 24-year-old had a lengthy collegiate career, playing at Auburn before ending his career with the Ducks. He appeared in 61 games combined for both teams, throwing for 15,352 yards, 108 touchdowns, and 26 picks. He also found the end zone 38 times using his legs. With Denver recently acquiring Zach Wilson, Nix may sit to begin the 2024-25 campaign. However, no matter when he gets on the field, the Broncos don't have the pieces needed to make him a reliable fantasy quarterback.

Denver Broncos' connections to Oregon quarterback Bo Nix have persisted with the 2024 NFL draft just a day away on Thursday night. Nix is a player that teams could wait on until the second round, but the Broncos don't have a current second-round pick this year and are slated to select in the first round at No. 12. Their acquisition of former first-rounder Zach Wilson adds another layer to their QB situation heading into Thursday evening. The Broncos have done their homework on the QB draft class -- they hosted Washington's Michael Penix Jr. on a top-30 visit and watched Michigan's J.J. McCarthy work out -- and have discussed a potential trade up in the first round. However, they have plenty of other needs and have also talked about trading down. Right now, Jarrett Stidham and Wilson are slated to compete for the starting job in training camp.

The New York Giants visited with Oregon quarterback Bo Nix and South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler this week, according to sources. The Giants continue to do their due diligence on the QB position ahead of this month's NFL draft at all levels of the draft. Nix is a potential first-round pick, but he's not expected to go as early as New York's sixth overall pick. Rattler is seen as a mid-round selection. The G-Men have six picks in this year's draft with one in every round other than the seventh. They continue to say that Daniel Jones (knee), who is coming off a torn ACL, is their starter when healthy, but they are wisely planning to have better depth behind him in 2024 and beyond if he gets hurt again or disappoints this fall.

The Athletic's Dane Brugler believes the second quarterback run in this year's NFL draft will start at pick No. 19, sending Michigan's J.J. McCarthy to the Los Angeles Rams as the heir apparent to Matthew Stafford. He also has Oregon's Bo Nix going No. 34 to the New England Patriots and Washington's Michael Penix Jr. going 44th overall to the Las Vegas Raiders in Round 2. But on The Athletic's consensus board, Penix was the highest-ranked of those three QBs at No. 24. In addition to the Rams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers could be several teams that could consider jumping on a signal-caller late in the first round. And the Washington Commanders, New York Giants or Minnesota Vikings could think about trading back into Round 1 to pounce on a QB.
