Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) said the best-case scenario would be returning sometime during the playoffs.

Fantasy Spin: Godwin's fantasy season is over, and Bucs receivers outside of TE Cade Otton struggled last week. Otton is a top-five TE right now, and Sterling Shepard and Jalen McMillan look to be inconsistent flex options.

Oct 23 2:53pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, Oct. 23. In addition, P Trenton Gill and WR Ryan Miller were promoted from the practice squad and free-agent WR Dennis Houston (Giants) was signed to the practice squad.

The NFL's Ian Rapoport reports that Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle) will undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair his dislocated ankle. Rapoport noted that tests done leading up to surgery were "as good as they could've been," according to sources. Additionally, there is an outside shot Godwin could return in 2024, depending on how late in the winter the Bucs play. However, the likelihood of such an outcome is not very good. With fellow wideout Mike Evans (hamstring) expected to miss time through Week 11, Tampa Bay is suddenly reeling on offense. It'd not be surprising to see the team seek veteran help, but in the meantime, wide receivers Jalen McMillan, Trey Palmer, and Sterling Shepherd will attempt to fill the void. Running back Rachaad White and tight end Cade Otton should also continue to see an uptick in usage.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said that wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle) will be undergoing surgery on Tuesday to fix his dislocated left ankle and will likely be out for the rest of the season. However, there's a small chance that Godwin could make it back early in 2025 if the Buccaneers make a deep playoff run. The 28-year-old suffered a gruesome ankle injury late in the fourth quarter in Monday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Fantasy managers in single-year leagues can send Godwin to the waiver wire now for a healthy body. It's devastating news for Tampa and Godwin, as he was excelling in his return to the slot in 2024 with a league-high 50 catches, 576 yards and five TDs in seven games. With Mike Evans (hamstring) to miss at least three games, the Bucs will be forced to use rookie Jalen McMillan, Sterling Shepard and Trey Palmer in three-wide sets moving forward.

Updating previous reports, Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) is scheduled for surgery this week. He's undergoing an MRI Tuesday, Oct. 22, to survey the damage, but his season is over.

Fantasy Spin: What a bad circumstance. Godwin finally appeared to be back to himself after knee injuries derailed a blossoming career. He led the league in catches, and now it's over. Mike Evans also went down, and it's safe to assume he's probably down a bit. Sterling Shepard will be the elder statesman of a bunch that includes Jalen McMillan and Trey Palmer. All three have less than 10 receptions and 100 yards. I would expect Shepard to be the underneath option and a solid PPR addition/flex candidate. McMillan will be the deep threat as he had receptions of 32 and 23 yards in Weeks 1 and 2.

Oct 22 9:20am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle) is set to undergo an MRI before surgery to repair his dislocated ankle on Tuesday, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The 28-year-old is likely to miss the remainder of the 2024 NFL season. Needless to say, this is an unfortunate development for Godwin, who looked to be on track for a career season. Godwin caught 50 passes for 576 yards and five touchdowns before going down with a serious-looking injury in the Monday Night Football loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Mike Evans (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury and exited in the first half, so the Buccaneers could be down to Jalen McMillan, Sterling Shepard, and Trey Palmer in Week 8. Fantasy managers with Godwin should wait on official work, but he's likely to be droppable considering he likely won't return this year.

Dynasty | Tampa Bay wide receiver Chris Godwin left Monday night's game late with a dislocated ankle. Dynasty Analysis: Godwin was in the game with less than a minute to go and was extremely unlucky when he got tangled up with a defender and suffered what looked to be a pretty gruesome injury. If he has indeed dislocated his ankle, his season is going to be over. Godwin was quickly becoming a trade target for contending team as he was leading the lead in catches, but all of that is now up in smoke. Godwin's dynasty value is going to sink now that he's going to be a year older and a free agent at the end of the season.

Oct 22 1:23am ET

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) suffered a dislocated left ankle in the closing minutes of the Week 7 game against the Baltimore Ravens, according to head coach Todd Bowles on Monday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Spin: Down 10 points with less than a minute to go, Godwin made a reception, and Baltimore LB Roquan Smith made the tackle, pinning Godwin's left leg underneath. On the replay, it turned awkwardly in a direction it is not supposed to go. It's a shame, as Godwin was the league leader in receptions, and he is an impending free agent, so it could have been his final play as a Tampa Bay Buccaneers player. It isn't official that he is out for the season, but since he left in an air cast, and he was carted off, he appears to be out indefinitely. TE Cade Otton might see plenty of targets with Godwin out, and Jalen McMillan might move into a starting role, with Trey Palmer and Sterling Shepard also likely to see increased snaps.

Oct 22 12:30am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle) was diagnosed with a dislocated ankle near the end of Monday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, head coach Todd Bowles told the media postgame. Godwin will be out indefinitely. He suffered the injury with one minute left in the fourth quarter as the Buccaneers trailed by 10 points. Godwin finished Week 7 with nine targets, seven catches, and 65 receiving yards. He was placed in an air cast and carted off the field. The injury was gruesome enough that ESPN declined to show a replay on its broadcast. Football fans on social media were quick to criticize head coach Todd Bowles for keeping his starters in the game with such little time left on the clock. While Bowles explained postgame that he felt the Buccaneers still had a chance to win, his decision evidently backfired as Tampa Bay lost and Godwin is now expected to be done for the season. He finishes the 2024 campaign with 50 catches, 576 receiving yards, and five touchdowns. It's possible the veteran receiver has played his final game with the Buccaneers as he prepares to hit free agency during the 2025 offseason. It's a devastating loss for Tampa Bay and fantasy football managers everywhere, as well as crushing news for Godwin amidst a promising start to the 2024 season. Moving forward, Jalen McMillan and Trey Palmer should earn more snaps alongside starting wide receiver Mike Evans.

Oct 21 11:33pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (leg) suffered what appears to be a serious lower left leg injury in the fourth quarter of the Week 7 game against the Baltimore Ravens. The injury was so serious in nature that the ESPN telecast refused to show the replay. When he was carted off, his left leg was in an air cast.

Fantasy Spin: Godwin appeared to snap his fibula, but that's just speculation. On the replay, he was shown dragging his left leg after getting it pinned underneath tackling play Roquan Smith. He was unable to get up, and was down for several minutes. It's a terribly development for fantasy, as the team already lost Mike Evans to a hamstring injury earlier, and Godwin has been a bona fide WR1 in all leagues to date. Jalen McMillan, Trey Palmer and Sterling Shepard are the next three receivers after Evans and Godwin.

Oct 19 8:40pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin is coming off his best performance of the season. Last week, Godwin hauled in 11 receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the New Orleans Saints. It was season highs across the board for the veteran wideout who has been fantastic since his move back to the slot. The expectation is that Godwin will remain a focal point in the passing game this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens. A defense that has struggled to contain the passing attack early on this year. Godwin has done enough to be plugged in as a WR1 for this Week 7 contest.

From RotoBaller

Oct 15 1:00pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' WR Chris Godwin scored an impressive 35.50 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 6 win in New Orleans. Godwin caught 11 passes for 125 yards with two touchdowns. It's the 1st time this season Godwin scored at least 25 fantasy points in a game.

Oct 13 7:13pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin finished with game highs of 11 receptions, 125 yards and 13 targets in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints, and he had touchdowns of four and 55 yards.

Fantasy Spin: Godwin has five or more receptions in all six games this season, he has scored five times, and he has managed two 100-yard games. He has posted low-end WR1 fantasy numbers in most formats. He'll look to keep it going in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night.

From TheHuddle

Oct 13 6:10pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin was seemingly unstoppable on the field during Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. The veteran wideout had taken a backseat to Mike Evans lately, but had another breakout performance this weekend. Godwin hauled in 11-of-13 targets for 125 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Godwin has been a consistent option all season long with five receptions or more in every game. He has also posted 53 receiving yards or more in all six games. The move back to the slot as done a tremendous amount of good to Godwin's game. He'll be a WR1 for next week's game against the Baltimore Ravens.

From RotoBaller

Oct 13 4:30pm ET

Tampa Bay's WR Chris Godwin had 11 receptions for 125 yards with two touchdowns in Sunday's win in New Orleans.

Oct 11 6:20pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has slowed down a bit since his impressive start to the season. However, Godwin has still be one of the better fantasy options at wideout this season. Last week, Godwin hauled in five of his six targets for 64 yards in the overtime loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Godwin now has 60 yards or more in four of his first five games this season. He has also seen eight or more targets in every game, but last week's loss. The assumption is that Godwin will continue getting consistent usage especially with Mike Evans likely drawing star defensive back Marshon Lattimore. Fantasy managers should keep Godwin on the WR1 radar in PPR formats for Week 6.

From RotoBaller

Oct 4 9:40am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin continued his successful 2024 campaign during Thursday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. The veteran wideout hauled in five of his six targets for 64 yards in the overtime loss. Fellow wideout Mike Evans saw the red zone attention this week with two touchdowns. Despite that, Godwin still put together a solid performance as he's reached 60 yards or more in four of his five games. The Bucs will now head into a tougher matchup against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. Evans figures to draw star defensive back Marshon Lattimore which means Godwin should see more looks next week.

From RotoBaller

Oct 4 1:33am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin had five receptions for 64 yards versus the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, Oct. 3. He was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Spin: After a red-hot start, Godwin has gone back-to-back weeks with less than 70 yards and no touchdowns. He hasn't had a truly bad game, yet, but it feels like he's settling into more of that WR3 spot he's typically filled over the years for fantasy owners. Godwin had two of his better games of last season against the Saints (8-114-0 in Week 4, 3-81-1 in Week 17), so make sure he's in your lineup when those clubs renew acquaintances in Week 6.

From TheHuddle

Oct 2 7:50pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has been off to an extremely hot start to begin the season. Godwin has six receptions or more in every game with over 53 yards or more in each of those contests. The veteran wideout has also scored three touchdowns as the move back to the slot has done great things for his career. The biggest problem for Godwin's value is that he continues to battle with fellow wideout Mike Evans for targets. Luckily, the Bucs have gone pass-heavy early on which has given both receivers solid value most weeks. Godwin should once again be in the WR1 conversation for the upcoming matchup against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday.

From RotoBaller

Sep 29 9:20pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin surprisingly took a backseat for the first time this season. Fellow wideout Mike Evans did a majority of the damage as he saw 14 targets on the day. However, Godwin was still productive as he hauled in six of his nine targets for 69 yards in the win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Head coach Todd Bowles mentioned earlier in the week that they wanted to get Evans more involved. They've done that and it could mean a dip in value for Godwin going forward. However, Godwin should still get a steady workload as he has proven himself to be a viable option. Fantasy managers should consider Godwin a WR2 for Thursday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.
