Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz had his contract restructured his $36 million contract for salary-cap purposes Tuesday, Sept. 2. It was a simple conversion, and he'll make the same amount as his original deal, $11.508 million in 2025, but it goes into a signing bonus that lowered his salary-cap figure.
Fantasy Spin: As far as fantasy purposes, Schultz was selected as a low-end TE2 in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. He is worth a look as a TE2 or flex fantasy option in those leagues, and he should only be starting in deeper formats.

The Houston Texans restructured tight end Dalton Schultz's $36 million contract for salary cap purposes on Tuesday, a league source told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. Schultz will make the same $11.508 million this year through a simple conversion of his $11 million base salary into a signing bonus that lowers his salary cap figure. He will be due $11 million in 2026 under the three-year extension he signed in 2024. The 29-year-old had 53 catches on 85 targets for 532 yards and only two touchdowns in 17 regular-season games (13 starts) in 2024 in his second year with the team. It was a disappointing showing for fantasy managers, especially when considering the injuries to Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell. His numbers last year were his fewest since his second year in the league in 2019 with Dallas. Schultz enters Week 1 against the Rams as a low-end TE2 in fantasy.

Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (undisclosed) participated on the offseason workout Tuesday, June 3, after missing time last week.
Fantasy Spin: Schultz likely will be the starting tight end for the Texans this upcoming season, but it is not known how involved he will be in the passing game. He can be considered a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (leg) is back practicing at voluntary organized team activities this week after missing the first few sessions with an apparent leg injury, according to the Houston Chronicle's Jonathan M. Alexander. In his second year working with quarterback C.J. Stroud, Schultz disappointed in 2024 with 53 catches on 85 targets for 532 yards and only two touchdowns in 17 regular-season games (13 starts), especially when considering the season-ending injuries to receivers Stefon Diggs (knee) and Tank Dell (knee). Diggs is gone and Dell probably won't play at all in 2025, but the Texans added Christian Kirk via trade and Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel in the draft. The 28-year-old is the team's clear-cut top pass-catching tight end, but Schultz could once again struggle for consistent targets on a week-to-week basis for his fantasy managers.

Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (undisclosed) worked on a side field with trainers during practice Friday, May 30.
Fantasy Spin: Schultz will have around two months to recover from his injury and probably will be ready for training camp. He saw his numbers drop a bit in 2024 and likely will only be a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues.
