Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards (ankle) returned to a full practice on Friday and was removed from the final Week 11 injury report, so he will be available this Sunday night to face the visiting Cincinnati Bengals. Edwards returned in the Week 10 win over the Tennessee Titans last Sunday after missing the previous four games with his ankle injury and played only 15 offensive snaps while carrying the ball 10 times for 55 yards. The 29-year-old should have a bigger role in his second game back, but he's not relied on in the passing game and will remain the clear backup to J.K. Dobbins, making him impossible to rely on as a starter in fantasy lineups. Unless Dobbins goes down with an injury, Edwards is mostly a deep-league handcuff. After scoring a career-high 13 TDs last year in Baltimore, Edwards has 48 carries for 168 yards and no scores in five games with the Bolts.

Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards (ankle) was limited in practice on Wednesday. Edwards missed four games with the injury before returning in Week 10 so his presence on the injury report this early in the week is no surprise. Edwards was solid in his return in Week 10. He rushed 10 times for 55 yards. He only played 25% of the snaps so the Chargers were intentional with his playing time. Edwards has racked up 168 yards rushing on 3.5 yards per carry in five games this season. He was superseded by running back J.K. Dobbins before his injury earlier in the year. Additionally, Dobbins received eight more opportunities than Edwards in Week 11. As such, Edwards has been relegated to a status as a high-quality insurance running back. If anything were to happen to Dobbins, then Edwards would likely see a huge boost in volume. Unfortunately for Edwards, he will not see a significant enough role as long as Dobbins is healthy. Edwards appears on track to play on Sunday, but he should either be at the end of your bench or on waivers.

Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards (ankle) returned from Injured Reserve and played well in a Week 10 win against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Edwards spent the minimum four games on IR and returned to take 10 carries, gaining 55 yards. He ended up leading the team in rushing yards and finishing second in rushing attempts. Edwards will remain in a backup role behind J.K. Dobbins, but after a slow start to the season before landing on IR, it was good to see a slightly more efficient Edwards move the ball well.

Dynasty | Chargers running back JK Dobbins had 50 rushing yards, three catches and five receiving yards in a win against Tennessee. Dynasty Analysis: Dobbins has had a great start to the year, but he shared the load with Gus Edwards today and that's going to be a major concern moving forward. If the Chargers make this more of a committee again, this could be a major problem moving forward for dynasty managers. Dobbins is going to be a sketchy play until we see how Los Angeles is going utilize these players moving forward.

He had been listed as questionable but was expected to play after being activated from injured reserve on Saturday. Edwards spent the minimum four games on injured reserve and is now back for his first contest since Week 4. Through the first four weeks of the season, he had mustered just 38 carries for 113 yards (2.97 YPC) in the No. 2 running back role behind J.K. Dobbins. Edwards is an uninspiring handcuff option and will not have any fantasy appeal as long as Dobbins is healthy.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards was activated off the Injured Reserve list on Saturday. The 29-year-old wasn't relevant for fantasy managers before going on the shelf due to an ankle injury, amassing 38 touches for 113 yards in four games. While there's a chance he could get involved in Week 10 against the Titans, assuming he suits up, J.K. Dobbins, who has played relatively well this season, will presumably remain the top option out of the backfield. Still, with Dobbins seemingly always one wrong move away from an injury, Edwards could gain streaming potential at some point moving ahead. For now, keep him out of any fantasy lineup.

Edwards was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday before upgrading to full on Friday. The former Baltimore Ravens RB has not played since getting injured in the Week 4 loss to the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs. If Edwards is activated from IR on Saturday and plays on Sunday, he'll most likely be eased in as J.K. Dobbins' backup. In the four games that Edwards played in before his injury, he took a clear back seat to Dobbins in LA's backfield and was averaging a career-low 3.0 yards per carry on 38 rushing attempts. Edwards' impending return will mean less playing time for rookie Kimani Vidal as a change-of-pace option behind Dobbins.

While Edwards would be eligible to play in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans if he's activated from IR by Sunday's game, the Chargers now have 21 days to officially return him to their active 53-man roster. If the 29-year-old does enough in practice this week and is activated by Saturday, he'd be returning to game action for the first time since getting hurt back in Week 4. He hadn't really moved the fantasy needle this year in his first season with the Bolts after going for a career-high 13 touchdowns in 2023 with the Ravens. Edwards hasn't practiced all week and it doesn't sound like his injury is going to get better anytime soon. That being said, Edwards will head to the IR and miss the next four games. Edwards has taken a backseat to J.K. Dobbins over the last two weeks. The first two weeks Edwards saw 29 carries, but only had nine rushing attempts over the last two games. Dobbins has run away with the lead back gig, which means Edwards' absence won't make a huge impact. Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal could see a few touches, but Dobbins is going to be the primary running back going forward.

He didn't practice on Wednesday and Thursday, so fantasy managers had a feeling things were heading in this direction. However, with his absence on Friday, the door was closed regarding his availability for Week 6. The 29-year-old played nearly as many snaps as J.K. Dobbins in Weeks 1 and 2. But his workload declined in the Chargers' previous two contests. With Dobbins the clear No. 1 option on the depth chart, Edwards' potential has significantly decreased, so he wouldn't have been a viable fantasy option even if he was healthy. With that in mind, his absence will allow Dobbins to get even more work, with Hassan Haskins expected to pick up the residual scraps from the backfield.

Dobbins has taken over the Chargers backfield as is the clear starter in a run-first offense. Despite the Bolts relying on the run all season, Edwards has yet to put up more than 5.9 fantasy points in a game and is averaging just three fantasy points per game. On top of his own ineffectiveness and injury, Edwards will have to face a strong Broncos run defense if he plays. He's almost completely off the fantasy radar and can be dropped in most formats at this point.

Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards received only six touches in a Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Edwards ran the ball six times, gaining 19 yards with a long gain of five. He was not targeted in the passing game. Meanwhile, J.K. Dobbins wasn't particularly effective (14 carries for 32 yards), but he clearly remains the RB1 in the Chargers backfield while Edwards fades further and further into a backup/change of pace role. Edwards is droppable in most formats right now and likely won't have much fantasy value this season unless Dobbins is forced to miss time.

Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards is not shaping up as a Week 4 fantasy starter in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Edwards has faded well behind J.K. Dobbins in the Chargers backfield. Edwards was only in on 35% of the team's offensive snaps in Week 3, totaling just three runs for nine yards total and not drawing a single pass game target. Dobbins, meanwhile, has averaged around 16 fantasy points per game even after a slow Week 3 of his own. This is clearly Dobbins' backfield, and Edwards is only around to play a change of pace and maybe occasional short down role.

In a 20-10 loss, Edwards ran the ball just three times, gaining a total of nine yards. He was not targeted in the passing game. The Bolts ran the ball 20 times, with J.K. Dobbins getting 15 of those rushes. Dobbins has clearly taken over the RB1 role in this backfield, leaving Edwards to a backup and likely goal line role. He'll have some boom weeks if game situation gets him in the red zone, but he's no more than a dart throw FLEX play most weeks.

Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards is a touchdown-dependent fantasy option in a Week 3 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Edwards has put up two fairly similar games in terms of production so far this season, and is likely to do more of the same. He has not yet broken out for an explosive play nor has he forced a missed tackle, but the Chargers offensive line is providing him with plenty of room to run. He's played on 47% of the offensive snaps in the red zone, and he's always a threat to punch in a short touchdown at the goal line. Still, his value depends almost solely on finding the end zone, making him a risky FLEX play albeit one with some upside.

Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards led the Chargers backfield in carries in a Week 2 win over the Carolina Panthers. Edwards carried the ball 18 times, gaining 59 yards. He was not targeted in the passing game. Edwards' 18 carries led the backfield but his 59 yards were far less than the 131 put up by J.K. Dobbins. Edwards will continue to have a grinding and goal line role on this offense, but Dobbins has clearly lifted himself above Edwards in the pecking order. He will be a touchdown dependent fantasy option with mostly unpredictable boom and bust weeks going forward.

Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards will look to establish himself in his role in a Week 2 game against the Carolina Panthers. Edwards and J.K. Dobbins were expected to have an almost even share of the backfield this season, but in Week 1, Dobbins put up 139 combined yards while Edwards gained just 28. Edwards was on the field for 42% of the offensive snaps and ran just six passing routes compared to 17 for Dobbins. The way Edwards plays always makes him a threat to score a goal line touchdown, but he'll likely need to find the end zone in order to put up a decent fantasy performance. He's a risky RB3 even with an excellent matchup against a Panthers offense that was torched on the ground in Week 1.

He caught his only target for a two yard gain. Edwards led the team in carries, but saw fellow running back J.K. Dobbins pick up 135 yards on 10 carries. Edwards will always have a role in this backfield, but if Dobbins stays healthy, Edwards could be in much more of a support role than expected.
