After being a healthy scratch in the Week 1 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins rookie running back Jaylen Wright is active in Week 2 against the division-rival Buffalo Bills on Thursday night. It comes after Raheem Mostert (chest) was ruled out on Wednesday. De'Von Achane (ankle) was also listed as questionable, but he is officially active. Achane should be Miami's lead back on Thursday with Mostert sidelined, but Miami figures to mix in Jeff Wilson Jr. and Wright as well as change-of-pace backs. It's unclear how many snaps and touches all three backs will split, but Wright is at least intriguing as a boom/bust flex play if you're already hurting at the RB position early on. The 21-year-old fourth-round speedster needs to at least be stashed in most fantasy formats, especially if you have Achane or Mostert rostered.

Miami Dolphins rookie running back Jaylen Wright was inactive in Week 1 but could make his debut in Week 2 with De'Von Achane (ankle) and Raheem Mostert (chest) banged up ahead of the Week 2 matchup with the Bills on Thursday night. Wright, the talented rookie back out of Tennessee, is likely to make his NFL debut if Achane or Mostert can't suit up. If both are out, Wright could be a fantasy sleeper as most managers might assume Jeff Wilson, Jr., would be the featured back. Wilson is a solid runner, but Wright profiles as a more versatile back who could factor heavily into the game plan without Achane and Mostert available. This all depends on the health of the top two running backs for Miami. Both were listed as DNPs on Tuesday, but it should be noted that the practice was a walkthrough for Miami which doesn't reveal much more about their availability on Thursday. Wright is worth a speculative add for managers who haven't stashed him already for his long-term upside.

Miami Dolphins rookie fourth-round running back Jaylen Wright is a healthy scratch for the Week 1 regular-season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday. To kick off the year, the Dolphins will roll with Raheem Mostert, De'Von Achane and Jeff Wilson Jr. as their three RBs. The Dolphins coaching staff really likes Wright and want to get him work in 2024, but that might be hard to do as long as the three mean ahead of him on the RB depth chart stay healthy. The biggest factor to the 21-year-old Wright not being active right off the bat is probably the fact that he hasn't contributed on special teams. Wright will become very attractive on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues if one of Mostert or Achane get hurt, but for right now, he's mostly a bench stash in dynasty/keeper leagues.

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright rushed seven times for 36 yards in Friday night's 24-14 defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He added 41 yards and four receptions on six targets. Wright saw the most touches of all Dolphins' running backs but was the second to enter the game behind Jeff Wilson Jr., who ran with Mike White and the second-team offense. He saw a few snaps with Mike White but did most of his damage after Skylar Thompson came in to finish out the game. The fourth-round pick was stuffed a few times early on but showed off his strength and athleticism on his other runs and ultimately ended the game with a strong 5.1 yards per carry. His passing-game usage is also positive news as he looked spry in the open field, regularly turning the corner and bursting up the sideline for an extra chunk of yards. The former Volunteer is vying for the RB3 job behind Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane to open 2024 with Miami, and his performance tonight did not hurt his chances. Wright is the RB52 in Yahoo!'s ADP and a nice handcuff option or flier in deep leagues late in drafts.

Miami Dolphins running backs Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane are listed as co-starters on the team's latest preseason depth chart, but rookie Jaylen Wright's strong performance in training camp and in the preseason opener should give him a role in 2024. Wright led all players with 55 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries in his NFL debut against the Atlanta Falcons, and his style fits perfectly in head coach Mike McDaniel's outside-zone running scheme. Pro Football Network's Adam Beasley says to expect Wright to see significant action as a rookie. Per TruMedia, the Dolphins led the league in carries (240), rushing yards (1,213), touchdowns (12) and rushing first downs (62) out of 21 personnel in 2023. The 21-year-old fourth-rounder appears to have a leg up on Jeff Wilson Jr. for the RB3 role in an explosive Miami offense.

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright rushed for 55 yards and scored one touchdown on 10 carries in Miami's 20-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Friday. He failed to haul in his lone target. The former Tennessee Volunteer had a long gain of 14 yards on the night and was overall efficient, as he rushed for 5.5 yards per carry. Wright showed off his agility and quickness on Friday, displaying the tools that made him such an enticing selection for head coach Mike McDaniel in this year's draft. He is decisive and explosive and fights through arm tackles with a rugged toughness. The rookie RB is comfortably third on the Dolphins' depth chart behind incumbent co-starters Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane for now. He's highly athletic, but significant volume could be tough to come by this season unless one of the two players mentioned above misses time on the field.

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright has impressed the coaching staff early in training camp. Wright has been doing all the right things and is putting himself in good position heading into the season. The fourth-round rookie appears ready to make an impact on the field, but will have to battle for snaps. Both Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane are ahead of Wright on the depth chart. However, head coach Mike McDaniel has shown he's not scared to use his rookies after seeing what Achane did last season. The Dolphins should be able to find a way to get the speedy back involved, but it probably won't be enough snaps to carry every week fantasy value.

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft following an impressive junior season at Tennessee that saw him rush for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns on a 7.4 yards-per-carry clip. Some believed Wright could have been a Day 2 selection following his 4.38 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, but the Dolphins traded up in Round 4 to add him to a dynamic running back room. While Wright's workload could be limited behind Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane in Year 1, the rookie is excited about his new offense. "Just the way that they like to create space for the running backs, space for everybody," Wright said. "They got the receivers to spread everybody out to make the defenses drop back in coverages and stuff like that. That just makes it better for the running backs. Just the system and everything we do, I feel like it's perfect for me." Miami could implement a three-headed monster in the backfield of Mike McDaniel's offense, but for now, Wright should be viewed mainly as an injury stash in the case of a Mostert or Achane injury. If either player has to miss time, Wright could be an immediate flex option.

Dynasty | The fourth round selection of RB Jaylen Wright makes a fast Dolphins offense even faster. Dynasty Analysis: An offense built for speed adds another burner at RB, which could spell doom for 32 year-old Mostert. Despite leading the team in rushes, rushing yards, and rushing TDs, Mostert figures to take a back seat to second year paragon De'Von Achane, but the addition of Wright could push Mostert even further down the depth chart. The younger, fresher set of legs would cut into Mostert's workload at the absolute minimum, driving him down even further from his RB44 DLF ranking.

Dynasty | The Miami Dolphins drafted Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Dynasty Analysis: Dynasty managers were clearly hoping Wright would land in a place like Dallas where he had a chance to start but alas, it didn't happen as he was taken by Miami in the fourth round. Wright fits the profile of a what Miami likes - crazy athletes. Unfortunately for Wright, he's going to be a gadget player early in his career as he's buried behind Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane. Still, he has some long-term potential as a player who is extremely explosive. The landing spot is going to be a problem and Wright is looking like a late second or early third round rookie pick as a result.

Apr 27 1:50pm ET

The Miami Dolphins selected Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright to help beef up their RB room in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft on Saturday at pick No. 120. Wright, who ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash at the scouting combine, adds even more blazing speed to Miami's backfield alongside Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane. The 21-year-old isn't going to have much of a role in 2024 as long as both Mostert and Achane stay healthy, but it's a good long-term fit for those in dynasty/keeper leagues. Wright will see touches in his rookie season as the Dolphins look to manage the workloads of both Mostert and Achane, but it's not going to be enough to warrant attention in single-season leagues. He stands at 5-foot-11, 210 pounds.
