2024 RTSports Outlook

Cooks was a top red-zone target for the Cowboys in his first season with the team. He scored eight touchdowns, his highest total since 2016. Cooks was 38th overall in fantasy receiver scoring despite having 54 receptions, his lowest total since 2019. Cooks was a bit of a touchdown dependent player with his new team. It could be more of the same for Cook this year, competing with a lot of talented player for targets in this offense. Cooks has 1,000-yard seasons six of his last nine. Cooks isn't a big receiver but has great speed and moves after the catch. He also has good hands and runs pretty good routes. He remains one of the top deep threats in all of football. Fantasy Outlook:   Cooks could improve a little on last year but not a lot, making him a No. 3 or 4 receiver for fantasy teams. He can get around 60 receptions for 800 yards and six or so touchdowns. Cooks should be a little erratic for fantasy owners.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Dallas Cowboys wide receiverBrandin Cooksstarted his 2023 campaign with a new team after being traded from the Houston Texans to Dallas. Dallas didn't give up much for the now 30-year-old wideout with six seasons of 1,000 or more yards under his belt. They sent a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick to Houston in exchange for the veteran wide receiver. Cooks' 2023 season began slow, but he managed 54 receptions for 657 yards and eight touchdowns by the end. BothCeeDee LambandJake Fergusonwere quarterbackDak Prescott's favorite weapons. Lamb finished the season as the most targeted player in the NFL with a whopping 181 targets. Ferguson was second on the Cowboys with 102 targets. The 30-year-old was targeted 81 times over the season, making him the WR2 on the roster. Michael Gallup is now a Las Vegas Raider, and Dallas did not draft a wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft. This is good news for Cooks, who is looking to slip back into the WR2 role in Dallas' pass-heavy offense. His main competition for Dallas' WR2 role is Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin. Cooks is a boom-or-bust player that can be taken late in drafts. He is a viable WR3 on your fantasy roster. Don't expect him to be a long-term option, but in 2024, he should see plenty of playing time. Cooks is ranked 137th overall and 56th in RotoBaller's wide receiver rankings, making him a slight value at his current NFFC ADP of 160 and being taken as the 64th wide receiver off the board in upcoming fantasy drafts.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks (knee) worked with the rehab group off to the side during training camp practice on Monday. Cooks has been held out of practice and the team's second preseason game on Saturday since injuring his knee at practice last Thursday, but the 30-year-old veteran's injury isn't believed to be too serious. However, with CeeDee Lamb, the team's No. 1 wideout, still holding out due to a contract dispute, quarterback Dak Prescott's top receiving targets in practice are now Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Cropper and Jalen Brooks. Before Cooks' knee injury, he was developing great chemistry with Prescott, and he could bounce back in 2024 with Michael Gallup no longer around after putting up a 54-657-8 line in 16 regular-season games last year. Cooks probably isn't a 1,000-yard receiver anymore, but he could have some use as a WR4/flex in the right matchups for fantasy managers.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks (knee) was seen in the blue medical tent early Thursday during practice due to knee soreness. According to Nick Harris of the team's site, it is "not expected to be a major concern moving forward." With star wideout CeeDee Lamb missing time due to a contract holdout, the Cowboys' offense has been leaning on Cooks early and often in practice. While this does not appear to be a long-term issue, it is worth mentioning that Jalen Tolbert is the third wide receiver on Dallas' depth chart, and it's quite the falloff after that. If the eleventh-year wideout's knee does not improve quickly, expect the Cowboys to seek veteran help at the position. Cooks is Yahoo!'s WR59 in ADP and could be a nice value in an offense that should funnel targets to him, Lamb, and Jake Ferguson.

Dallas Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks was on the same page with QB Dak Prescott during OTAs and minicamp this year, according to The Athletic's Jon Machota, who noted that their connection particularly stood out on deep balls and it was clear the duo had spent a full year working together.

Fantasy Spin: Machota opined that Cooks, if healthy, was capable of an "800- to 1,000-yard season with double-digit touchdowns" as the clear No. 2 receiver in Dallas. Cooks has struggled the last two years, but prior to that he'd topped 1,000 yards in six of his previous seven seasons. Entering his age-31 season, Cooks figures to be available late in drafts where he might deliver nice value as a reclamation project.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks didn't make the impact many had hoped for in his first season with the organization. He caught just 54 passes for 657 yards, but his eight touchdowns kept him on the fantasy football radar. The six-time 1,000-yard receiver has now failed to reach 700 yards in two consecutive seasons, but he's reportedly looking like his old self offseason. "The Cowboys were 11-0 in the regular season when Cooks had at least 20 receiving yards and 0-5 when he had fewer than 20," wrote Saad Yousuf of the Athletic. "One of the most underrated players in Dallas, the 31-year-old Cooks still showed his signature speed while blowing past cornerbacks during OTAs." The former Saint, Patriot, Ram, and Texan is being selected outside the top 50 wide receivers in 2024 fantasy drafts, so he could be a steal at cost in the explosive Dallas offense. However, it's tough to ignore the statistical regression in recent seasons.
