San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (wrist) was removed from Friday's final Week 7 injury report and will play on Sunday in a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs at Levi's Stadium. Samuel suffered a minor wrist injury in last Thursday night's win over the Seattle Seahawks and was able to shed his non-contact jersey for Friday's practice, clearing the way for him to play this weekend. With Jauan Jennings (hip) missing his first game of the year, the 28-year-old Samuel should have a safer fantasy floor. In the Super Bowl loss to KC, Samuel had only three receptions on 11 targets for 33 yards while carrying the ball three times for eight yards. He should have a bigger impact on this Sunday's game, and fantasy managers should treat him as a must-start, high-end WR2 as the Niners look to give the Chiefs their first loss of 2024.

Oct 17 6:50pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (wrist) put in a second straight day with a limited practice session this week on Thursday. Samuel was seen shaking his arm during the Week 6 win over the division-rival Seattle Seahawks last Thursday night, but he played through it and didn't seek treatment during the game. It suggests that he should be just fine to play this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs in a Super Bowl rematch. The 28-year-old pass-catcher had his second 100-yard receiving game last week and caught his first receiving touchdown in the process. If running back Jordan Mason (shoulder) is limited or out, Samuel should see more work out of the backfield as well. He's tracking as a high-end WR2 for fantasy managers, especially if Jauan Jennings (hip) is unable to play.

Oct 16 10:10pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (wrist) got in a limited practice to kick off the week on Wednesday. The 28-year-old caught 3-of-5 targets for a team-leading 102 yards -- including a 76-yard touchdown -- in the 36-24 win over their division-rival Seahawks but left the contest briefly to get his hand checked out. He would return to the game, but it appears the injury has lingered. Considering he was not ruled out from Week 6, it's likely that fantasy managers have little reason to be alarmed regarding his status for a pivotal Week 7 matchup against the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs. Still, his practice participation over the remainder of the week is worth tracking.

Oct 11 4:10am ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. popped off in a 36-24 victory over the Seahawks in Seattle on Thursday night. The former South Carolina Gamecock caught three of five targets for a team-high 103 yards and a touchdown. He also took four carries for 15 yards rushing. The first touchdown of Week 7 came on a 76-yard catch-and-run when a Seattle defensive back misread the trajectory of the ball, leaving Samuel Sr. to easily outrun a linebacker to the end zone. Samuel Sr. has now exceeded projections in three of five games in 2024. He'll have some extra time to enjoy the win before a Week 7 marquee matchup at home versus the Kansas City Chiefs.

Oct 10 11:30pm ET

49ers' WR Deebo Samuel had 3 receptions for 102 yards with one touchdown in Thursday's win in Seattle.

Oct 9 11:50pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. will try to rebound from a weak performance when the team takes on the Seahawks in Seattle on Thursday night. In Week 5 Samuel Sr. was very quiet, finishing with one catch on three targets for 11 yards. He also took three carries for just nine yards. Samuel Sr. is on a bit of a cold streak. After opening the season with two strong games -- producing 16.2 and 14 half-PPR points -- he missed one game due to a calf injury. In the two games since his return, Samuel Sr. is averaging 34.5 yards per game and no touchdowns while his combined 8 targets are fewer than he garnered in either of the aforementioned productive contests. Seattle will be missing a few pieces on defense, most notably starting CB Riq Woolen (ankle), but they have given up the 10th-fewest points to opposing fantasy receivers in Yahoo default scoring. Samuel Sr. will be in the thick of the WR2 landscape when he laces up on Thursday night.

Oct 7 12:00am ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. faded into the background during a 24-23 home upset at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Samuel Sr. saw three targets and caught just one for 11 yards. He also took three carries for nine yards rushing. The receiving total was the lowest a healthy Samuel Sr. has posted since Week 4 of his rookie year. In most games, San Francisco's passing attack is more evenly distributed, but Samuel Sr. saw receiver Brandon Aiyuk and tight end George Kittle each receive 12 targets. Samuel Sr. will likely be more involved when the 49ers face the Seahawks in Seattle on Thursday Night Football.

Oct 5 3:30am ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. will line up against the Arizona Cardinals at home on Sunday. Last week versus New England, Samuel Sr. caught three of five targets for 58 yards plus two carries for 14 yards rushing after spending some time on the injury report. His day, disappointing as it was, was somewhat saved by a single 53-yard reception. Arizona, coming into the game tied for 14th in half-PPR fantasy points allowed to wide receivers, represents a decent opportunity for Samuel Sr. Also worth noting is that the Cardinals' defense has been sixth-worst against the run and Samuel Sr. usually gets at least a couple of carries. He's averaging 13 half-PPR points in fantasy so far. Start a healthy Samuel Sr. as a back-end WR1 in Week 5.

Sep 30 1:20am ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. offered a decent performance in Week 4 during a 30-13 victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday. The sixth-year pro finished the game with three receptions on five targets for 58 yards and no touchdowns, plus two carries for 14 yards on the ground. Samuel Sr.'s day was salvaged by a 53-yard third-quarter bomb that accounted for almost all of his receiving yardage on the day. It's worth noting that wideout Jauan Jennings out-targeted Samuel Sr. in this one, as well as Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle following Jennings' coming-out party in Week 3. While it's unlikely that Jennings continues to lead the 49ers in receiving for long, Samuel Sr. managers can't be thrilled with today's muddling of San Francisco's receiving hierarchy with everyone healthy. Samuel and the 49ers get the Arizona Cardinals at home in Week 5.

Sep 29 3:00pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) is now considered active for the team's Week 4 contest against the New England Patriots. He was able to put in a couple of limited practices this week, so he may not receive the usual workload in this game. With Samuel back on the field, Jordan Mason and Jauan Jennings may not see the same amount of touches that they would have otherwise. The Patriots give up the 11th-most fantasy points per game to opposing receivers in half-PPR formats, so the 49ers receiver group could find plenty of open areas to operate. Samuel does present some risk to fantasy managers given how tricky calf issues can be though.

From RotoBaller

Sep 29 1:40am ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) is expected to play in Sunday's showdown with the Patriots. Although the wideout was expected to be out longer, it appears he is ready to roll. While there is a chance he could see fewer snaps than usual, he remains a starting fantasy option in any format. On the other hand, Jauan Jennings, coming off a three-touchdown performance in Week 3, will now go from a must-start to a borderline flex option, especially with George Kittle (hamstring) also anticipated to suit up. Kittle and Samuel's impending returns could also mean Brandon Aiyuk may continue to struggle.

From RotoBaller

Sep 27 5:10pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots, according to Tom Pelissero. The star wideout suffered a calf strain in Week 2 and was originally expected to miss multiple weeks, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. However, Samuel now has a chance to miss only one game and return to action this weekend. Through the first two weeks of the season, Samuel averaged 18.4 PPR points and tallied 164 receiving yards. If Samuel is able to suit up he should be locked into all lineups as a high-end WR2. If Samuel misses his second straight game, Jauan Jennings should slot in as the No.2 wideout behind Brandon Aiyuk.

Sep 27 1:10pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) has a chance to return in Week 4 against the New England Patriots a week earlier than expected, but a lot is riding on his practice status on Friday. Samuel did not practice on Wednesday before returning to a limited session on Thursday. "The best athletes seem to heal at a little better rate... The reason he's on the field is because he hit all the markers," general manager John Lynch said. Fantasy managers will want to check back for Samuel's official injury designation for the weekend. The 28-year-old will likely be questionable, at best, and even if he does suit up on Sunday, he could be on a pitch count. After initially injuring his calf, Samuel was expected to be out for two to three weeks. Jauan Jennings went off for 175 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams with both Samuel and tight end George Kittle (hamstring) out.

Sep 26 6:20pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) was in uniform and back on the practice field during the early portion of practice open to the media on Thursday. It's unclear exactly how much Samuel got done in practice, but our guess would be that he'll wind up limited on the final injury report. Samuel strained his right calf in the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and didn't play in last week's loss to the division-rival Los Angeles Rams. The 28-year-old didn't practice on Wednesday, but now that he has returned to practice, he could have a shot to return this Sunday when the team hosts the New England Patriots. Still, fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if Samuel misses another contest with an injury that initially was expected to keep him out multiple weeks. Jauan Jennings had over 150 receiving yards and three scores with Samuel and tight end George Kittle (hamstring) out in Week 3.

From RotoBaller

Sep 25 7:10pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) was unable to practice on Wednesday, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Samuel suffered a strained right hamstring in the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and hasn't practiced since, also missing the Week 3 loss to the division-rival Los Angeles Rams. The injury was initially expected to keep him out for multiple games, so fantasy managers shouldn't plan on having him for the Week 4 tilt against the New England Patriots, especially with him not practicing on Wednesday. The 28-year-old is a must-start in fantasy lineups on a weekly basis when he's active, but he's probably going to be unavailable for a second straight week. Jauan Jennings should be rostered in all fantasy formats after catching 11 of 12 targets for 175 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 3 win with both Samuel and tight end George Kittle (hamstring) both out.

From RotoBaller

Sep 20 6:10pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) has officially been ruled out for the Week 3 game this Sunday versus the division-rival Los Angeles Rams on the road. It doesn't come as much of a surprise after Samuel was unable to practice all week after suffering a calf injury in the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The 28-year-old is expected to miss multiple weeks, so fantasy managers can't assume that he'll be back for a Week 4 matchup against the New England Patriots. Running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles, calf) is on Injured Reserve, and tight end George Kittle (hamstring) is doubtful to play this weekend, which leaves Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings as the Niners' top two pass-catchers. Without CMC, Samuel and Kittle, fantasy managers need to be downgrading quarterback Brock Purdy to QB2 territory against LA.

From RotoBaller

Sep 19 4:40pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) was not seen at Thursday's practice, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic. The wideout also did not practice on Wednesday. The 28-year-old is expected to miss some time due to a calf injury but has not been officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams. Fantasy managers should expect Samuel not to suit up this weekend but should monitor Friday's report, just in case. Samuel was once again a focal point of the San Francisco offense through the first two weeks, averaging 18.4 PPR points with 82 yards and 6.5 catches per game. Fantasy managers looking for a potential replacement should consider adding his teammate Jauan Jennings, who should serve as the No.2 wideout this weekend against a vulnerable Los Angeles defense.

From RotoBaller

Sep 18 5:10pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) will not practice Wednesday after suffering a calf strain in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. Despite the injury, Samuel had a solid Week 2 performance, recording eight catches for 110 yards. While reports suggest Samuel could miss multiple weeks, no official word has been given, and the team has yet to place him on injured reserve. All signs point to Samuel missing the Week 3 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, with his status listed as doubtful. In his absence, fantasy managers can consider 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings as a potential streaming option for Week 3.

From RotoBaller

Sep 16 6:40pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (calf) suffered a calf strain in the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and will be forced to miss a couple of weeks. It comes as a surprise after Samuel had eight catches (10 targets) for 110 receiving yards while also carrying the ball twice for 10 yards. With both Samuel and All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles, calf) out for the foreseeable future, San Fran's offense could struggle to put up points heading into a Week 3 divisional matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Jauan Jennings should step into the WR2 role behind Brandon Aiyuk, who has been slow out of the gates after a lengthy contract hold-in, while tight end George Kittle's fantasy ceiling and floor will now be raised. Samuel's injury makes running back Jordan Mason even more of a lock as a must-start in fantasy lineups going forward.

From RotoBaller

Sep 15 11:00pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. was impressive in a 23-17 loss to the Vikings in Minneapolis on Sunday. He caught eight of 10 targets for 110 yards receiving -- all team-high figures. Samuel Sr.'s hands were particularly sticky in this one, with multiple difficult receptions coming on contested passes. In a bit of a departure from his usual style, relatively few of his yards came after the catch. Although it didn't matter in the end, Samuel made a great hustle play in the 49ers' final possession near the goal line when linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel jumped a backward wide receiver screen pass intended for Samuel, who got back to secure the ball when Van Ginkel bobbled it. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, it counted as a carry for a loss of nine yards. He would finish with two carries for minus-10 yards. Samuel will look to keep it going in a road tilt against the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday.
