The San Francisco 49ers officially listed running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) as questionable for the Week 10 game this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday's final injury report. However, head coach Kyle Shanahan said that McCaffrey will be activated from Injured Reserve on Saturday and should be good to go. Last year's rushing leader is dealing with Achilles tendinitis in both of his legs that has sidelined him all year to this point. While fantasy managers have to be ecstatic that they will finally be able to put the 28-year-old All-Pro in their starting lineups, you should also temper expectations somewhat, as it would be a surprise if the Niners didn't play it safe from a workload perspective in his 2024 debut. Still, we aren't recommending that anyone sit McCaffrey if he's active. Jordan Mason will revert to backup duties and loses most of his fantasy value.
From RotoBaller
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) was a full participant in practice on Friday, Nov. 8, after being limited the two days prior and is questionable for Week 10. Head coach Kyle Shanahan did say, however, that McCaffrey is 'good to go.'
Fantasy Spin: McCaffrey will suit up despite the questionable tag, but it remains to be seen if he'll get a full workload right off the bat or if he'll split work with Jordan Mason. Typically an RB1, temper expectations with McCaffrey to more of a flex option with elite upside until we know how much work he's going to take on.
From TheHuddle
San Francisco 49ers WR Chris Conley (hamstring), DT Kevin Givens (groin) and CB Charvarius Ward (personal) did not practice on Friday, Nov. 8, and were ruled out for Week 10. Also, DE Yetur Gross-Matos (knee) was limited but was ruled out, DE Nick Bosa (hip), OG Jon Feliciano (knee), S Malik Mustapha (calf) and WR Deebo Samuel (rib, oblique) were limited and are questionable, RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) practiced in full but is questionable and OT Trent Williams (rest), WR Jauan Jennings (hip), PK Jake Moody (ankle), P Mitch Wishnowsky (back), CB Renardo Green (ankle), RB Jordan Mason (shoulder), LB Dee Winters (concussion) and QB Brandon Allen (finger) practiced in full and carry no designation.
From TheHuddle
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is expected to be available for the Week 10 game as long as he does not suffer a setback, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Fantasy Spin: McCaffrey has not played yet this season because of the injury, so he probably will see a limited workload if he is cleared to play. He likely will be involved in both the running and passing game and should still be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.
From TheHuddle
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is expected to make his 2024 season debut on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. The 49ers are coming off their bye and McCaffrey has been pain-free after two straight limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday. Achilles tendonitis in both of his legs has kept CMC out all year to this point, so fantasy managers that likely drafted him first overall will finally be able to deploy him this weekend, albeit as a more volatile RB1 than usual with the Niners likely to be mindful of his workload in his debut. Jordan Mason (shoulder), who was a must-start RB1 in fantasy with McCaffrey sidelined the first eight weeks, will take a huge hit in value with last year's leading rusher returning to the fold for the 49ers.
From RotoBaller
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) was limited in practice on Thursday for the second straight day this week as he tries to make his 2024 debut in Week 10 this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was reported on Wednesday that McCaffrey was pain-free while putting in a limited session. CMC hasn't officially been activated from Injured Reserve, but that's expected to come later this week in order to debut this weekend. Because there's a chance the Niners ease the All-Pro RB into the fold on Sunday versus Tampa Bay, he'll be a more volatile low-end RB1 for fantasy managers that have been stashing the talented back all year. Jordan Mason (shoulder) has been practicing in full this week, so he looks more than ready to help shoulder the load for CMC if he makes his return in Week 10.
From RotoBaller
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 7.
Fantasy Spin: The 49ers have been optimistic about McCaffrey's availability for Week 10 and likely will be active for the game if he is activated from the Reserve/Injured list before the game. He may not be able to handle his normal workload right away but should still be a starting option in all leagues if he is active.
From TheHuddle
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Fantasy Spin: The 49ers are optimistic about McCaffrey's availability for Week 10, but fantasy players will know more later in the week. It is not known if he will be able to handle his normal workload but should still see enough touches to be a starting option in leagues.
From TheHuddle
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reports that running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles/calf) did not experience any pain issues or setbacks in his return to practice this week. The 49ers opened McCaffrey's 21-day practice window this week. It appears that the star running back is on track to make his season debut after suffering his injury during training camp. With McCaffrey likely back in Week 10, fantasy managers will be ecstatic to have the consensus No. 1 overall pick back in their lineups. The 49ers backup running backs stepped up admirably in McCaffrey's absence. However, neither Jordan Mason nor Isaac Guerendo has delivered much in the way of fantasy value since week four with the exception of Guerendo's 19.2-point Week 8. With McCaffrey likely to return in Week 10 in Tampa Bay, both players should be relegated to benches. However, McCaffrey is unlikely to play a full allotment of snaps in his first week back and is at risk of reinjury. As such, hold on to Mason and Guerendo for the time being.
From RotoBaller
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) was designated to return to practice Monday, Nov. 4.
Fantasy Spin: At long last, McCaffrey will return to starting lineups at some point within the next 21 days. There's a strong chance he is activated for the Week 10 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While there is risk of re-injury, it will be difficult for fantasy managers to keep him out of lineups once he's officially acitvated.
From TheHuddle
The NFL's Adam Schefter reports that the San Francisco 49ers have opened the 21-day practice window for star running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles). Finally, some good news. McCaffrey has yet to appear in a game this season, but, per Schefter, he is tracking to play this Sunday when the team lines up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Stanford alum would not likely handle a full workload if he suits up. Still, it's excellent news for the 49ers and fantasy managers, as he'll be a boon on the field and in fantasy lineups. Keep an eye on his status over the next few days, but things are looking up for the 28-year-old heading into Week 10. If he plays, he'll get one of the better matchups of the weekend against a Buccaneers squad that's allowed the most yards per carry to their opponents in 2024 (5.2).
From RotoBaller
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is expected to hit it hard in practice this week, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. The team plans to open his 21-day return window this week, but is hopeful that McCaffrey only needs one week of practice before returning to the field. The target date is for McCaffrey to return after the bye week to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10. Although, the 49ers could hold out McCaffrey through Week 12 if they decided to do that. The first step is getting McCaffrey back on the practice field which should happen this week.
From RotoBaller
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles, calf) is expected to participate in simulated practice workouts this week, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. The team hopes McCaffrey will be able to return to practice next week and be available for the Week 10 game.
Fantasy Spin: McCaffrey appears to be making good progress in his recovery and should be on the field next week if he does not suffer any setbacks. It is not known if he will be able to handle his normal workload right away but should be a starting option in fantasy leagues when active.
From TheHuddle
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is still on track to return in Week 10, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The team plans to have a bonus practice during the bye week, and McCaffrey is expected to participate.
Fantasy Spin: Jordan Mason injured his shoulder again in Week 8, and the bye is coming at a great time for him. CMC will be an RB1 option as soon as he's activated. Mason drops back to a flex candidate that could see some red zone looks.
From TheHuddle
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is currently "ramping up" and set to take part in practice during the team's Week 9 bye. According to Ian Rapoport, McCaffrey has targeted Week 10 for his return and he is currently on track to hit that date. The superstar back hasn't played in a regular season game yet this year, and with Jordan Mason (shoulder) getting banged up, it's the perfect time to rejoin the backfield. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status through the bye week and into Week 10 before committing to him in their starting lineup.
From RotoBaller
Dynasty | 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is slated to return as early as week ten. Dynasty Analysis: Nothing is imminent here as the 49ers have still failed to open the practice window for McCaffrey. Still, things seem to be trending in the right direction. This is a delicate situation for San Francisco as McCaffrey would clearly give the team a much needed boost, but bringing him back too soon could put him at risk of rupturing his Achilles, a potentially career and franchise-altering injury. McCaffrey will return to the RB1 ranks whenever he comes back but his dynasty value is starting to sink a touch.
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) has a very good chance of suiting up Nov. 10, after the bye week, in the opinion of insider Ian Rapoport.
Fantasy Spin: It took more than half the season, but you can finally start preparing your likely No. 1 overall pick for your lineups. Jordan Mason will still have value, but it will only be as a volatile flex option. CMC is obviously a must-start when he's ready.
From TheHuddle
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles, calf) is not expected to return to practice this week but could return to the field after the Week 9 bye, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Fantasy Spin: McCaffrey was hoping to return at some point during November and appears to be on track with his timetable. Fantasy players should monitor the situation over the next few days to see if he suffers any setbacks. Jordan Mason will continue to receive most of the work at running back and can be a starting option in fantasy leagues.
From TheHuddle
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) won't be available for the Week 8 game on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys, and then the team is on bye in Week 9. McCaffrey has been ramping up for an early-November return, so Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Nov. 10 could be the target date he's shooting for to make his 2024 debut. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports CMC hasn't had any setbacks as he ramps up. San Fran could really use McCaffrey back with receiver Brandon Aiyuk (knee) going down with a potential season-ending torn ACL in the Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Fantasy managers that have been stashing McCaffrey all year could have him back just in time to make a run for a fantasy championship, although it remains to be seen how effective he'll be and how much of a workload he'll have upon his return.
From RotoBaller
It's still a mystery as to when San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) will make his 2024 debut after dealing with Achilles tendinitis, but ESPN's Jeremy Fowler says that McCaffrey should start ramping up his activities after the team's Week 9 bye. The two-time Pro Bowler and last year's leading rusher has been on Injured Reserve since Week 2 and has yet to play for the 49ers this season. Barring a setback as he ramps up his activities, the 49ers are hoping that they'll get CMC back in November. For now, fantasy managers must keep him stashed in an IR spot and hope he returns sooner than later for the second half of the season. Jordan Mason (shoulder) has been a must-start RB1 in fantasy in CMC's place. He suffered an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder in Week 6 but has been cleared to play in Week 7 on Sunday in a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs.
